I know we all have the urge to make excuses about that extra 1-2 or even 0.5 lbs which shows up on that Oh-So-Evil scale.
This morning, I stepped on the scale it said 168.6lbs. I think to myself, "Oh I haven't gone to the bathroom yet."
After breakfast, I went to the bathroom. I weighed myself again after that. Again, it is 168.6lbs. Now I am telling myself "Hey I already had breakfast. That has to weigh something." Therefore, I write notes next to my weight today that I could be 168lbs. lol 2lbs loss since I joined CC on Monday last week. Hurray!
Do you ever make excuses or deduct some to make yourself feel better?

I do the same toilet thing. Also, if my hair is wet from the shower, I chalk it up to wet hair hehehe

ive been known to take off my shoes and deduct a pound for clothing weight....:)
haha i'm so relieved I'm not the only one that does it... sometimes I blame it on the water I drank the night before ("I'm bloated, not heavy"). My scale is also a bit wacky because it's so old, so sometimes after I step off of it, it's no longer at zero. I'd just keep readjusting it until I get a satisfactory reading!
I'm ever so guilty about all of the above!! I use the one at work and chalk weight gain up to it being an old scale that needs to be replaced. (which it does:)
This is why I've decided, maybe I shouldn't go by how much I weigh. It's really about how my clothes fit. That's what I'm trying to accomplish. Not weighing less.
Maybe that's just another excuse though. I was able to fit in to a pair of my "when I'm thinner" pants, though! I was pretty excited:)

Oh... You know what else is evil for this? Those Stretch type of jeans Lol.
Oh God I refuse to try on those skinny jeans. I know I'll feel anything but if I put them on.
Typically, no, though I will write notes if there was a major jump. (5 lbs or more) For example when I switched scales, I made a note so that it could be explained. Recently my scale was sent back for a replacement (it had an electrical short) and I was without it for a month, so when I stepped on it after that month, it said I had a 10 lb gain, which was unexplainable because I had been following my food and exercise plan. Come to find out it was water gain because I had been messing up my water. Since then, all of that 10 lbs (plus 2.8 lbs more) has come off - in about a week. So yea, I did write a note that I suspected it was water weight, and it came off like it should have for water weight.
yeah! and i learned it at the docs... take off 2 lbs for clothes, 1 lb for breakfast ;)
but yanno, now I just get weighed in my same nightie barefoot every morning right after using the ladies room, and that's it. write it down.
and then try not to think about it because it's what happens week after week that's important and not just 1 day or 2 because our body bounces around because of water weight and food passing through...
sometimes easier said than done... but we need to learn to trust the process. If we're not overeating, then the upswings are just water!
cheers :)

Well, I'm sure happy to hear you have to count 2 lbs down for clothes! I usually take off just one...LOL. I discovered I do the same thing with the scale, so I decided to do something about it: I take into consideration only how much I weight in the morning, with no clothes on and AFTER I went to the bathroom and BEFORE I have breakfast. Since I do that every day, I may compare the results. I also decided to measure my waist, hips and chest every 2 days, but take into consideration only the weekly measurement (performed on Sunday). Even so I've noticed that if you measure yourself in the morning you have a lower reading then in the afternoon. So...I stick to the mornings...LOL
I have a rutine where i weigh myself at the same time every day. if its higher i tell myself its obviously water weight as i must not have drunk enough water today.. but befor i go on the scale i make sure i goto the toilet first, quickest way to loose half a pound :)
you are actually meant to weigh yourself as soon as you wake up in the morning, after going to the toliet to pee and shit, before you have breakfast.
If you ever visit an eating disorders unit that is what your subjected to as 5.00 am, in the morning so you dont cheat and drink water before hand, they wake you up early, but for regualr people, wake up pee and weigh.
after all you can only hold, 5 litres of water for so long...and espically since they subject you to go to teh toliet, before hand.

I only record my weight twice a month. It makes the weight chart easier to read and gives a better picture of progress.

That's exactly what I do. First thing go releave myself, then weigh myself stark nekkid. Every day.
Wanna know something else? I also exhale as I'm on the scale. Silly, I know, but that air in my lungs can add a good 2 to 3 pounds!! ;) ;)

lol. I take off my glasses when I weigh myself even though that means I can't see until it's done. Glasses weigh 1/2 lb? lol
As far as i'm concerned....
wet hair equals @ 6oz, jewelry 2-4oz, clothes 7oz maybe a whole pound if clunky shoes are included, and not using the bathroom yet equals 3-6 oz!

Um.. I can assure you I make a lot more than 3-6oz Lol. I am not the most regular person on earth.
NO Cheating
I weigh myself in the morning before the shower after the morning sit down everytime. I was curious about how much urine and poo weighed so I weighed b4 and after and it was about a .8 difference. Just weigh yourself at the same time every day wearing the same thing (naked is probably the most accurate).
I weigh myself after a wee first thing in the morning. When I've weighed myself before in the evening after dinner and a days worth of food and water I usually weigh about 3 lbs more! I never like the look of that...
I do that same exact thing!! LOL But, I think they are valid reasons. I have weighed myself before and after eating, or the "bathroom routine" and there is a significant difference for me!
