I'm personally starting my own boycott of restaurants that refuse to provide nutritional data for their menu. I think that's not good customer service.

However, in the interest of family harmony, I wouldn't suggest boycotting the Cheesecake Factory for lunch. ;) Plan on making lunch your main meal of the day. Their menu is online, look that over and decide what you want to order ahead of time - there are some grilled chicken options that sound yummy. Don't eat the bread, or if you do, nibble on a small portion of the dark wheat bread w/no butter while you drink water. Since their portions are so huge, ask for a to-go box to be brought out with the entree and put half in right off the bat. You can eat the leftovers for dinner. Or, maybe you and your mom could split an entree?

If you feel like you over-indulged for lunch, have a simple lo-cal dinner like minestrone soup. Throw in some extra cardio if you can, too.

You'll do fine! Remember, the great thing about this diet is that it isn't a diet, it's all about eating regular foods in proper portions. And you can do that anywhere!

Let us know how it goes! :)
Okay, I think I did pretty well!!  My mom and I split an endive, raddicio (sp?), and arugula salad (it did have glazed pecans, and I helped myself to those...) with the dressing on the side.  Then, I had their Vietamese Spring Rolls:

VIETNAMESE SHRIMP SUMMER ROLLS
Delicate Rice Paper Rolled Around Asparagus, Shiitake Mushrooms, Carrots, Rice Noodles, Green Onion, Cilantro and Shrimp.
Served Chilled and not Fried

...which were really good!  I only ate half of that appitizer, so now I have half of it left for dinner!  I'm not sure how to log it, so I tried putting everything in separately, and it seems to have worked...  We got a slice of cheescake to bring home, and I intend to have a couple forkfulls of that tonight, but if all goes well I won't go crazy like last night.  Thanks for your support :)

I'm gonna go take an extra walk though, just to be safe ;)
I also had a slice and a half of the whole wheat bread, which cost me 130 calories, but it was SO worth it!
Yum, those spring rolls sound delish!!

Good job!
Looks like you made some really good choices, Sarah - I hope you are proud of yourself!!!
first, of all, congratulations on your food choices!  one huge weakness of mine is going out to eat and breaking that 'special occasion' mentality that makes me want to splurge.  big question though....what kind of cheesecake?  ;)
i am currently boycotting TGI Friday's -- they do not give out any nutritional info even on their healthy selections
Maybe we should start a letter-writing campaign to these restaurants, letting them know we'll boycott them until they provide us with the information we need!
Mmm we took home a slice of one of the specials, which was a chocolate coconut creme pie cheesecake or something...I had a little slice after dinner, and mmmmmmm was it amazing!!

I am all for writing these letters!  After I looked up more info on the nutrition facts at Cheesecake Factory, I found some statements that their PR people had released that were particularly annoying (apparently lots of people have tried to request nutrition info from them).  This unwillingness only leads me to one conclusion: their food is horribly fattening and comes in gigantic portions.  Grr!!
I had a look at their website. I have no idea what Id eat there! Everything seems fried or loaded with cheese and sauces. Maybe I'm missing the "lighter side" menu. But even the entrees... wow! Beer-battered, deep-fried, cheese stuffed. ITs gotta be really good taste-wise then, right>?

Glad I dont have that here in Australia. It sounds good, but man, I think some of those meals would go OVER my daily intake. Haha

Yeah, i think they dont supply info cos its so bad

Cheesecake Factory now has some low-cal options on their menu--all are under 590 calories.  The hard part is resisting the cheesecake!!
TGI Friday's does give generalized info for their "healthy selections."  Their menu states that the items labeled "low-fat" are less than 500 cals and less than 10g of fat.  They give carb counts for the low-carb items, since low-carb dieters don't count calories.

I'll usually order one of the low-fat items and mark it down as 500 cals.
It kind of makes you wonder how many calories are in their regular food if they think 590 is oh so miniscule.
I was just there on Monday with my best friend and I am always overwhelmed by that menu! But I love the Thai Lettuce wraps with chicken!! Its a huge appettizer that you could totally do for an entree...the entrees are freakin huge!! I also love the Bang-Bang chicken and shrimp...just skip the rice!
we were given a gift cert so we are going this weekend...I too went online and found the menu, but with no nutruious info OR prices???  That says over priced to me...oh well...most of it is paid for anyway.  I am sure that hubby and I will split a piece of cheesecake
Stella I love the lettuce wraps too. I crave them all the time.
kae03 - it's usually around $10-12 per main dish...course there are more and less expensive things, too.

Good food...just a lot of it.  And yeah, you really can't go and not have some cheesecake...that's kinda the whole point!

haha I work there and end up nibbling on the whole wheat bread throughout my shift. Its sooo addicting. I dont use butter though...  I dont usually eat anything there because its too fattening and unhealthy... some yummy healthy options there:

the energy breakfast, the weight management salads, grilled chicken avocado club(just get it on whole wheat, with no mayo, no cheese and no bacon! subsitute for veggies or something if you like... im fine with just the chicken, avocado, lettuce, and tomato) Dont even think about getting the cheesecake though! theyre all over like 1500 calories!! just get the goblet of strawberries if you want something sweet. Its litterally a goblet filled with fresh strawberries and they give you a side of whipped cream (whipped cream may be fattening but compared to the cheesecake.... my god...)

It kind of makes you wonder how in touch you are with the real world if you think 590 is a lot for a resturant entree.
