Cheesecake Factory- Any Good, Low Cal Options?

Quote  |  Reply

Exactly as the title says folks. I have a total of 1800 throughout the day. How can I spread my calories out?

If you are going out for a special event, I wouldn't get too overly concerned.  If you have a few day notice, plan ahead and eat lower for a few days (we are going for a weeks average here more than daily)  Then order basically what you want.  The portions are HUGE...ask for a take out box to come with the order.  Put half away INSTANTLY!   Order a piece of cheesecake even and do the same thing.  Yes, you will eat a lot of calories that day, but you are planning for it and by only eating half you will still get what you want without overeating.  Remember...this is something we are doing for life.  Eating out is part of it...having special meals is part of it.  enjoy, just be smart about it.

I'm still freaking out a bit though. I mean, I'm just going to get the original cheesecake (600 calories divided by 2 = 300).  But I hear reports of pasta being 3700 calories, and that divided by two is still 1850! (+ 300 = 2150!) I mean, granted, I'll probably go over today, but I found out where we were going yesterday, and yesterday was kind of a high day for me anyway...

*Sigh* Its just not a place that I would usually pick for myself, but my friends parents are paying and everything, so I don't know where to go with this...

how about a sandwich or something? just glancing at the menu i saw a few turkey and grilled chicken options. most of them come with fries, but a lot of places will sub those out for their veggie of the day or something!

eat half the sandwich, veggies and then have plenty of room for the awesome cheesecake!

They have those "weight management" salads... but personally I am not wasting my or my dinner companion's money on a salad when we go out.  I would say just get something sensible.... I know they do grilled fish and rice and they have pasta with just marinara or things like that.  Or get two small appetizers.  Yes, you'll be high on cals, but treat it like a special occaision and you'll be fine.

Side note: I much prefer the apple crisp and ice cream to cheescake there, if you haven't tried it you should!

I never cared for Cheesecake Factory when I lived near one.  Here's their menu

http://www.thecheesecakefactory.com/menu.htm

They don't offer nutritional info or recipes so you will likely have a hard time accounting for your intake.  They have the weight managment salad, one of which actually looked like it was really a diet item, "Spicy Chicken Salad".  the others had fried stuff in them.

There are lunch specials like soup and salad combos.  The Chicken and Shrimp meal looked good.  There was a fish dish that looked decent too but you won't be able to reheat fish.

Checking out the menu...the BANG-BANG CHICKEN AND SHRIMP looks good...you can go easy on the rice, or the salmon looks really good too.  But remember...it isn't about a day.  Enjoy, be smart...you will be fine (avoid soda or wine and save some calories that way)

I always get the "weight management" Pear and Endive salad minus the cheese and minus the dressing. It sounds boring, but if the salad starts at 590 cals (I think) then modifying it brings it into line with my allowed calorie intake for the day. Since the portion is huge anyway I'm always full after eating it.

OMG This is my absolute favorite restaraunt. What are the odds my favorite cheesecake is The Carrot Cake CheeseCake. I use to go there often. Now there is no cheese cake though! I will go there for a reward when I get to my mark maybe. Just about every restaraunt has an online menu with the nutritional facts. So before you go out anywhere just check it out and already have in mind what you are eating. I do that now, I just started. I have a family full of smaller people and they always want to go out to eat! LOL

Okay, I just checked and they don't dish there nutrition. I haven't been in a while but I was hoping to find that for me too.Frown Guess I'll look for suggestions on this post also.

This site might help:

http://www.dietfacts.com/list.asp?brand=Chees ecake%5FFactory

It doesn't list everything on their menu, but if you plan on eating their Weight Management items, you can find the nutritional info here.
