ok i did not get much help on my apricots but someone just brought me a massive basket of fresh picked cherries, i would like to bake something with them, healthy, help me? can i put them in jello, with out pits of course?
Heirloom Cobbler I make this with any kind of uncooked fruit. Last year I pitted so many cherries my fingers turned black. I use a cherry pitting tool.
I also like to add cherries to savory dishes like curry. They provide a sweet element to the flavor.
You can always freeze the excess - pit, spread out on a waxed paper lined baking sheet and freeze solid, then store in labeled bags. You can use these to make this dessert
You could:
Dip them in super dark, no sugar chocolate.
Cook them down with some other juicy fruit (like peaches), without any sugar, add a little cornstarch to thicken the juice and top them with a rolled oats mixed with a small amount of brown sugar and butter, and bake.
Ok, so that one is not exactly HEALTHY, but you can do tasty baked goods in moderation, just try to keep the bad stuff in check. I got this great book called Perfect Light Desserts that has a lot of yummy stuff (a ton of it made with fresh fruit) made with real ingredients, but mindful of not overloading the fat and sugar factor. You should check it out. So far everything I've made from there has been TASTEEEE!
Sorry I don’t have any really low calorie recipes for cherries but yes you can put pitted cherries in jello and you can freeze them as suggested. You could do as I do with any 'naughty' baked goods, portion them up and freeze them as soon as they are cool. If you put baking parchment between slices nest time you can allow for a piece in your calories allowance it's easy to take just one piece out of the freezer for consumption. That way I’m not tempted to eat more than one piece at a time.
Hope that helps
Make a clafoutis! This recipe was entered for blueberries, but cherries are the traditional kind and you can use pretty much any soft fruit. (I've also used blackberries and raspberries.) http://caloriecount.about.com/blueberry-clafo uti-recipe-r136404
Or make some meringues, whip up a little cream (gently sweetened if you like) and serve with cherries. http://caloriecount.about.com/meringues-1-pie ce-recipe-r160546
I have used frozen cherries in water (for ice cubes) lol. belive it or not, they taste good with Turkey*
easy as pie mix the cherries and syrup with sugar and tappioca pour in a pic crust and bake for one hour at 350
Oh My God! I love Vareniki! My Great Grandma used to make apple, cottage cheese, strawberry and potato ones. And serve them with loads of butter and sour cream. I used to eat them until I physically hurt. Thanks for posting this. I'll have to have them at least once, this summer. With FF Sour Cream, of course. ;)
Do you recomend Hydroxycut?
