umm...well it's good for your teeth!  :)  *shiny smile*  gum is NOT a significant source of calories but if you chew it all day they do add up.  Try the sugar free kind.  I don't see how chewing gum could be horrible for you (I personally am partial to the cinnamint orbit, lol) but i'm curious as well.
I wouldn't think it would be, unless its high in calories...

I don't know though.

I've heard aspartame(aspertame?) can hinder weight loss in some people...but I also don't know enough about that to say...

I'm curious too now though, I like trident gum :D
I dont think it would hinder ur weight loss in anway unless you chew pakcs a day. Usually i gum is like 3 calories.

But there is a negative health aspevt to chewing gum. It can lead to ulcers. When you chew you stomach prepares itself for food by producing acid so it can break down the foods. When no food comes the acid just sits there and breaks down your stomache leading to ulcers. But this is only for massive amount of gum chewing, didnt mean to scare anyone out of chewing a piece of gum.
I find chewing trident curbs my appetite a little.

I guess cuz it keeps my jaw moving. :)

One piece only has 5 cals, so if you chew it a long time (the flavor in trident lasts and lasts) then you can burn 5 cals off without even thinking about it.
I find chewing gum helpful and it has not caused any problems with weight loss.  In fact, it sorta helps keep other stuff out of my mouth!
I agree with you, lori!  Gum keeps my mouth occupied so the cookies and candy stay out.  The best gum is Extra Spearmint (depite it's neon green color).  If only gum came in chocolate flavor . . . Anyone know?
cherry cola by bubble yum or whatever was the best, i think they had a chocolate one for a while...

hmm chocolate gum sounds good right now, all the taste for only 5 cals, heck id chew it for 20 cals ;)
Well I use to chew gum once in a while a long time ago, and it seemed to make me eat a little more than usual now that I think of it, but it could have been because it just made me really thirsty. I rarely chew gum now (because I like mints). But in and of itself that gum shouldn't cause weight gain :)
OH wow, I just saw the chocolate gum reply....that would be so nice right now! We should buy a huge pack of that! I had never even heard of that before now!
DUDE!! ok yeah I said Dude.

But they really do make Chocolate Chewing Gum.  You can buy it here.
I am very tempted to try it, although everything I read said that you cant use natural chocolate flavoring b/c it reacts with the gum base, so this must be artificially flavored.  Still... I think this might be the best thing ever LOL.  And sugar free too!
Oh wow!  That looks so cool!  My dentist told me to chew gum with Xylitol like that chocolate gum.  But $10 for 100 pieces?  That's a little steep.  Maybe I'll write a letter to Wrigleys.
wrigley's site says they wont make chocolate gum b/c they have to use artificial flavor.... so probably out of luck on that one.  And 10 cents a peice isnt that bad is it? for CHOCOLATE GUM??  I would have to hide it, to take it out for a special treat... tho I wonder if it tastes any good.
Sounds great to me.  Anyone going to order it?  If you do, please let use know if it taste good.  I wonder if would make a difference if we order while it is soo hot outside.
