Chicken breast with....?
Ive heard eatingchicken breast with some veggeis is a good evening meal idea, but what kind of sause or seasoning can i eat with it because it lacks flavour if you just eat plain chicken breast with veg
ALSO what other filling meals do y'all eat ffor ur main evening meal>
i don't eat chicken breast. it's way too bland (unless you coat it with breadcrumbs and dip it in curry dip, which kind-of negates the point). i prefer thighs or drumsticks; way more flavour. i roast or grill them, or cook them in a casserole.
I like baking chicken breasts with cheese and garlic on top, usually served with a garden salad. I also like salsa on top, or pesto.
l sude my george foreman to grill my chicken breast it is never dry and it is flavorful. Find a good marinade that you like, marinade in the fridge and either grill or bake.
You can add all kinds of flavor to chicken by marinating it or using a dry rub. A half hour marination in the refrigerator allows flavors to penetrate the meat, then it can be cooked. a George Foreman grill makes it easy.
Or, you could try this - heat a jar of salsa in a deep saute pan. Place chicken breasts on top and spoon some salsa over it. Turn down the heat to a simmer, cover and cook until the chicken is done. It's really fast if you use chicken tenders.
Or you can wrap it in foil with a slice of lemon and plenty of salt, pepper and herbs. Bake it at 350 F for about 20 minutes, more or less, depending on how thick the meat is.
Try having it with different whole grains like brown rice, whole wheat cous cous, quinoa or millet made into a pilaf. Or microwave a sweet potato or white potato.
Roast some vegetables such as peppers, tomato halves, carrot strips, asparagus spears, mushroom, etc, for extra flavor.
Balsamic vinegar with a bunch of seasonings (basically whatever you have int he cabinet) as a 30-60minute marinade is good. I also cook chicken, veggies, and brown rice and then put a small amount of liquid amino acid. Kind of tastes like chinese food. Really good. Especially with mushrooms if you like them.
A sprinkle of sea salt, a lot of ground pepper, some oregano and maybe a sprinkle of feta cheese can liven almost anything up!
I have really done a good job of eliminating the salt to flavor my food so I have become quite creative with seasoning. Look for season mixes without salt. Try different mixes until you find a few that you enjoy. Use a few different flavors to mix it up a bit. Also try to cook your chicken on the grill for flavor or in a frying pan with a little virgin olive oil. One of my favorite ways to flavor chicken after it is cooked is to use lemon juice w/ paprika and/or chili powder.
As you can tell chicken on it's own is a rather neutral flavor. So really just about any seasoning you can think up works.
For something different try cinnamon chicken. A little bit of butter, or butter flavored substitute, and water in the pan, add boneless, skinless chicken breasts. Coat with plain cinnamon ((no sugar)), then cover and let cook slowly on low heat about half way. Turn the breasts over and coat the other side with cinnamon. Recover and let cook. Works well with sweet peas, sugar snap peas, or carrots.
Sounds strange but cinnamon has an interesting taste when it is unsweetened. I almost refused to eat it the first time some one made it for me, but turned out to be wonderful.
Good luck!
Edited for typos.
Try this over your plain chicken and vegetables
thanks for ur replies.
i ususally eat thys or drumsticks but i am led to belive breast is lower in fat/cals
Try sprinkling the chicken breast with some chili and lime seasonings before cooking, and then top with refried/black beans and/or cheese, and pop it in the microwave to heat the beans and melt the cheese. Then top with a few dollops of salsa.
Try Mrs. Dash's seasonings. The italian is really good on pork and chicken and they make one specifically for chicken and one for beef. Lemon Pepper is always good on chicken. A good italian dressing marinade is always tasty.
I haven't tried this yet but I read about dipping chicken breast in Ranch dressing, dredging in mashed potatoes, season to taste then bake.
our chicken is frozen. We put it in a saucepan w/ water and will add in teriyaki sauce or sprinkle in soem sort of dry seasoning like a lemon garlic or whatever is around. It is sooo juicy and flavorful. the water cooks mostly down and when it's just about done, drain any extra juice and brown it a little. So easy!
chicken baked in pineapple juice and eaten with pineapples is delicious. mmmmmm.
I love herbal chicken. I am Chinese so I eat this quite often! It is tasty and very nutritious!
Recipe here.
I'm really not much of a cook, but baked chicken breast is one of my staples. To jazz it up a bit, I serve it on a bed of spring greens, top it with a slice of veggie cheese (40 calories and 4g protein!) and pour on a 1/4 cup of chunky salsa (25 calories and 1g protein). Served with steamed broccoli and baby carrots, my version of chicken parmigiana is a delicious and filling dinner!
Hmmm... it's not as exotic as some people's but - I quite like just doing an arrabiata type sauce with the chicken - tinned toms, lots and lots of garlic and chilli and some onion if I've got it kicking around. I then drizzle this over the chicken and veg - avoiding the use for butter on the veg and getting over the problem of bland chicken...
I like to stuff mine and make (healthy, non-butter) chicken kievs. I take a long sharp knife to slice a pocket that I stretch out with my fingers then I stuff it. I usually make a spinach and ricotta-type filling: I blitz spinach, ricotta (or sourcream), garlic, herbs, parmasean (if you want) then use a DIY pastry bag (ie, ziplock with the corner cut out) to squirt into the pocket. I sprinkle some bread crumbs on top, not a fat coating, just about a tbsp or so, then I bake for 25 mins at 375.
Oh yeah, the chicken needs to be fully thawed, or your hands with freeze off while trying to make the pockets...
I recently dicovered a blend of herbs called Herbes de Provence...I think I found it at Trader Joes or Whole Foods, not sure. But it has thyme, majoram, lavender, and a few other herbs in it and it seems to make chicken breasts MELT in my mouth! I swear by it for roasting, baking, and making chicken soup.
I usually use a sparing amount of olive oil and rub the chicken and sprinkle the herb mix and garlic, salt, and pepper and bake it. Gordon Ramsey always says, season more, cook less (I think he means don't OVER cook b/c I will not eat raw chicken...LOL)
I love Kale! I wash it, chop it up, sautee it in low sodium chicken broth and then when it is done, splash a bit of cider vinegar on it - flavor explosion!
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
