Chocolate, and Aunt Flow.
Okay so i am getting ready for Aunt flow to come visit, However i turn in to the biggest Chocolate eater around this time... I will lay in bed and just crave and carve, until i fall asleep or get up and find something... We have gotten rid of most of the crap food in out house, however my huband went to a case sale last weekend, and bought a case of chocolate coverd oreos.. i broke last night and had two cookies, but i know the closer i get to aust flows visiting i know it will get worse, and i do not want to go hog wild becasue of it.... I thought maybe.. Like a bananna peanut butter smoothie with 1% chocolate milk to try to curve it... does anyone experiance the same thing, and do you have any suggestions?
Reason: Moved from Weight Loss to Motivation forum, thanks
I can't help you out there. But I can tell you you aren't alone! My husband got lite ice cream (chocolate) for me for the same reason. Did you notice any weight issues with it also? I'm up a lb, when I should be loosing. Any advice?
Have you considered adding chocolate to your diet and making room for it in your calorie allowance. I mean several weeks ago my DS wanted chocolate chip cookies. I made them from a recipe and made sure that for the next week I had room for at least on in my day.

I loooove chocolate. I had a big issue with it before I finally decided to put a stop to my crappy eating and laziness. I'd eat 1000+ calories of it a NIGHT on a too-regular basis. What I've been doing is giving myself little 100-calorie(-ish) chocolate treats like...
-4 pieces of trader joe's dark chocolate
-fat-free, low sugar/sugar-free fudgesicle
-~25 or 30 Annie's chocolate bunny graham
-TEN (TEN!!) chocoalte chip meringue cookies
-A sheet of chocolate graham crackers
- 1/3 cup of this awesome banana split trail mix from Fresh Market (banana chips, dried cherries, chocolate pieces, minimini-marshmellows, little nougat pieces, peanuts, and dried pinapple)
-frozen banana cut into pieces with 1 tablespoon regular chocolate syrup (you can have more of the lower sugar version, but I think it takes like alcohol and crap :-) )
Anyway, those are how I satisfy my cravings now. Hope those help! The fact that they're only around 100 calories makes it easy to fit them into your day :)
Yay chocolate!!
I haven't had any serious monthly junk or chocolate cravings since I started Yaz birth control. I even went to a chocolate store yesterday to buy special treats and I haven't touched mine. (and Aunt Flo stopped by today for a long weekend)
But I would keep small amounts of chocolate around and definitely make allowances in your day for it.
Well, when its 'that time' you actually lose a lot of magnesium, which chocolate happens to be high in, and this is why you crave it. So maybe you should allow for it in you calorie intake because it does actually make you feel a lot better when you eat it.
Or, you could do some research and find healthy foods that are high in magnesium, I dont know any sorry!
When I crave chocolate, and it is during the same time of the month, the only way to get rid of it is to eat it. I have learned that most of the cravings I have mean I am deficient in something so I will end up giving in. It is SO hard to control though. I suppose that is what this is all about, learning to control what we eat. Good luck! You aren't alone.
Everytime I think about the binge I want to do I think to myself "You don't need that food. This will pass. You will feel so much better about yourself when you don't cave in to temptation!" So far, so good. *keeps fingers crossed*
