Chocolate cake in a mug?
I searched but didn't see this anywhere. I just got this recipe from a cousin and wonder if any of you gurus here can quickly estimate the number of cals/serving, with and without the choc. chips. I am NOT posting this as a recipe suggestion (not yet, anyway). I hope this is ok. I don't cook much and so I've never used this forum before.
DANGEROUS CHOCOLATE CAKE-IN-A-MUG
1 coffee mug
4 Tbsp. cake flour (plain, not self-rising)
4 Tbsp. sugar
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 egg
3 Tbsp. milk
3 Tbsp. oil
Small splash of vanilla
3 Tbsp. chocolate chips, optional
Add dry ingredients to mug, mix well with a fork.
Add egg, mix thoroughly.
Pour in milk and oil and vanilla, mix well.
Add chips, if using.
Put mug in microwave, and cook for three minutes on 1000 watts.
Cake will rise over top of mug--do not be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little; tip onto a plate if desired.
Eat!
(This can serve two if you want to feel slightly more virtuous.)
***And WHY is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only five minutes away from chocolate cake any time of the day or night!!!***

Why don't you use CC's own nifty feature New Recipe Analyzer?
Ha, see, I'm so new to this I didn't even think about something like that!
OK, I analyzed the recipe and it is really high cal-950 with the oil, 1/4 tsp vanilla, and the chips. Maybe try substituting applesauce for the oil (and I have no idea if that would work in the microwave) and sharing with someone, for about 305 cals. At least you don't have a whole cake calling your name with this one!
Oh my goodness!!!
I did that yesterday! Without even knowing there was a recipe for chocolate cake in a mug. I was tired of cleaning up after baking things, so I wanted to see if microwaving cake mix would work. And so I used chocolate cake mix and just poured it into a large mug and microwaved it for like 46 seconds. The cake was amazing.
I totally agree with you, it's a dangerous recipe because I did end up eating the whole box of cake mix :(
Heh, nar nar!
I make a microwaved cakish product.
1 egg or egg white
2 Tbsp flax meal
1 Tbsp cocoa powder
vanilla, Splenda & salt to taste
You can also add 1/4 oz unsweetened chocolate, a little milk, coconut, whatever.
I found this one on Hungry Girl a while back and LOVE it! It only makes one serving so you can't go overboard and it tastes really good. After you mix it, it doesn't look like there's much but it rises a lot. I've also doubled the recipe so that it'd fill a regular sized mug. And that's still only 246 calories.

Arghhhh!!
I knew this recipe was dangerous! Because I just a box and a half of chocolate cake mix, just by microwaving :/
This is such a diabolical recipe! So, anyway, to make it easier to stomach, I substituted:
1. The one egg with egg white
2. The milk with low fat milk
3. the 4 TBSPs of sugar with a quarter teaspoon of Stevia Extract in the Raw (no cal, no carb sweetener)
4. Cut out the chocolate chips and just added more cocoa powder
Just delicious!
I know this original post is old but I make this all the time! I never really measured it out though...
I think I use about 3 tablespoons of chocolate cake mix from a box, then add 1 tablespoon of diet coke. I don't know if this is exact or not. I kind of ends up looking like brownie batter. Then I microwave it for 1 minute and a half.
Once it's cooled I mix a bit of redi whip with sugar free chocolate syrup for topping. SOOOO Good!
SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE AND MAKE MY 70 CALORIE CHOCOLATE CUP CAKE! It's still a microwave recipe, and tasty beyond belief, just without all those calories! The recipe is as follows:
1 TBS designer whey protein powder, chocolate (25 calories)
1 TBS FAGE 2% greek yogurt (10 calories)
2 packets stevia (0 calories)
2 TBS egg beaters (15 calories)
1/4 TSP baking powder (0 calories)
1 TBS cocoa (20 calories)
Mix all ingredients in microwave safe bowl until a brownie-batter substance forms. Pop it into the microwave for 1 minute, 30 seconds and enjoy!
Nutritionals: 70 calories, 1.5 grams of fat, 1 gram of fiber, and 8 grams of protein.
Not to be repeditive, but THIS CAKE IS AWESOME!
this recipe is so ridiculously diabolical! i want to try it( i'm a total sucker for brownies or cake in a mug lol) but i'm too terrified by the calories...which i calculated btw...
4tbsp. flour- 100cals
4tbsp. sugar- 60 cals
2 tbsp. cocoa- 30 cal
1 egg- 70 cals
3 tbsp. 1% low fat milk- 18.75 cals
3 tbsp. oil - 288 cals (this is basically one of the killers on calories for this recipe)
vanilla- 0 cals (such a small amount it's not even a calorie in itself)
so the grand total w/ out chocolate chips is 566.75 calories
YIKES!...if only there was a way to make it with out the oil...idk mayb there is, i'm not sure tho...
but anyways, hope that helps!
