I have been doing good on diet except for the chocolates.I love them ad have one small dark chocolate (dove hearts/hershey's special dark) each day.

I wanted to know is it real bad??and in the evening when i come back from office i have lot of food like bread/crackers/nuts etc along with tea.

What can I have other than these things??

Thanks,

Planning rewards into your diet is really important for motivation!

As long as you eat a nutritious diet (whole grains, lean proteins, lots of vegetables, fruit, some dairy, good oils) and are meeting your goal for the calories in your plan, then some things like a little chocolate in your day can be really beneficial.

I have a realllllly bad sweet tooth.  I have dealt with mine in the past by having 1 chocolate a day with a nice cup of coffee.

These days, I only have a sweet once a week.  I eat a dessert of whatever I want when I go out on the weekend.  So, it's easy for me to say no to sweets, especially if someone at work brings something in (that often I wouldn't ordinarily eat anyway!) because I know I can look forward to a special treat on the weekend, and it will be a favorite.

Remember that saying "no" to a food isn't a good idea.  You might obsess about it and binge at some point.  It's better to make room in your diet for it.

Diets shouldn't be about resisting, but about seeing all the healthy food you do get to eat and how it's fueling the body you love.

I can't help you with your other questions...but I looove chocolate...and one thing that I now love is chocolately chai tea (if you drink it black then its 15 calories per serving...but I like it with half a cup skim milk (45 calories)).  It is a good way to start to kick the chocolate habit.

The tea can be found at most grocery stores (president's choice brand)!

I always have some chocolate kisses, skittles, swedish fish, or some of my sisters baked cookies daily. You need to reward yourself, its a life change, not a fad diet so you have to treat it like that.

i have always kept chocolates on my desk for myself and others to partake of throughout the day. before i started counting calories, i didn't overindulge in the candy, but i certainly ate more than i eat now that i know exactly how many calories are in ONE piece of the chocolate decadence.

so now i allow myself to have the chocolate whenever....as long as i count the calories. because i'm more conscientious now, i end up eating at most, maybe two a day. some days i don't eat any at all because i just don't desire it on those days.

but yeah, like pp said, don't feel that you have to say "no" to the foods that you enjoy. enjoy them....as always...in moderation.
