129 cholesterol?
I just got back the results to my blood tests and this number seems absurdly low...
I -did- accidently eat right before the test (I had no idea I was suppose to fast). Could that have screwed up the results? Should I be worried at all? I eat a lot of stir-fry (aka oil!) so I'm a bit confused...
Mine is 141, and I bet even lower now that I eat so much fiber every day. What is your HDL, LDL breakdown. Is this number your total cholesterol? If you are concerned talk to you doctor. Generally speaking cholesterol is not a reflection of what you eat, it's mostly genetic. However, eating before the test can absolutely change the results. Talk to you doc or nurse to be sure but I am thinking you are ok!
The good (HDL)/bad (LDL) cholesterol is more mportant than the total...as well as the triglycerides.
HDL>40 is good >60 is very good
LDL<100 is good <80 is very good
Triglycerides is when your body changes any unused calories from whatever source into fat. <150 is normal.
The report didn't come with an HDL/LDL breakdown, but thanks, these responses were very helpful. The doctor didn't say anything about my cholesterol, so I guess it's fine. I was just reading some articles online about cholesterol under 160 being too low. Stupid of me to focus more on the internet than a doctor.
