Choosing Your Ideal Size.
Just wanted to share something i came across - I think it explains all the ways you can use to choose a healthy goal. First it explains the pros and cons of the scale and why jean size is a good way to go.

Then it discusses frame size and clothing size.

It then describes body fat percentage as something to be considered as well

Finally it talks about BMi and how you should use all these areas together to set a goal

Its from : The Complete Idiot's Guide to Healthy Weight Loss © 2005 so maybe some points are a little outdated but i thought i was a really good article on how many different things need to be considered in choosing a target.
Hope it helps! ![]()
very interesting...the only thing is, sizes are different at every store :(
I agree clothing sizes will be tough goal unless you pick a particular item or even designer. Other than that there's not much to about it....we only have vanity sizing to blame ![]()
waist to hip ratio is really important i think...in conjunction with bmi
Absolutely, i think WHR can really show where the dangerous fat is. According to the article BMI and WHR are the two parameters the professionals use.
This was an interesting read. It's funny though how my waist to hip ratio falls as .78, my frame is medium, and I wear 11/12 jeans, but the BMI still says I am overweight at 28. I guess it really is about perception though, I am fine with my body the only thing I want is a flatter tummy, but hey what girl doesn't? I think the BMI registers so high because I have big boobs and muscular calves lol. Anyway thanks for the link, it's nice to see that my body isn't as far off as the scales make it out to be.
I always knew that with a large frame, size 12 is perfect for me. This link confirms that and that size 10 is not out of the realm of possibility. Lately I've been thinking that there might be hope for me eventually wearing a size 10.
