I'm planning on purchasing dumbells tomorrow but I'm not sure how heavy they should be.
How can I determine the right weight?
Thanks in advance.
how much do you weigh? actually it just depends on your strength but majority they just start at 10 lbs then slowly increase.. just buy dumbells that can be added more weights..
You can buy adujustable wiehgt sets theses are much better as you don't have to keep buying new ones, usually they come with a set of starting weights and you you can buy more as your strenght increases.

The "right" weight should vary from exercise to exercise, there isn't a one-size fits all weight for anyone.
I weigh approx. 110 lb.
Thanks everyone. I do realize that there's not a 'one-size fits all weight' as floggingsully mentioned. However, as a beginner I wasn't sure whether I should purchase weights starting at 5 lb going up or if they should be heavier.
But I've decided that I'll check out adjustable weights.
Thanks again. :]

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
