I'm just looking for opinions!

So, reading cc's definitions:

Sedentary

  • At work - you work in an office
  • At home - you're usually sitting, reading, typing or working at a computer
  • Exercise - you don't exercise regularly

Light Activity

  • At work - you walk a lot
  • At home - you keep yourself busy and move a lot
  • Exercise - you participate in light exercise or take long walks

Moderate Activity

  • At work - you are very active much of the day
  • At home - you rarely sit and do heavy housework or gardening
  • Exercise - you exercise several times a week and push yourself pretty hard

Very Active

  • At work - you hold a labor-intensive job such as construction worker or bicycle messenger
  • At home - you are very active with heavy lifting and other rigorous activities
  • Exercise - you participate in physical sports such as jogging or mountain-biking each day

I don't know what I am! I work at a computer, and only have to do physical stuff every once in a while. At home, its a mix of keeping busy (chores or guitar) and just watching tv. But I workout 6 times a week, and I push myself hard......so for each bullet point, I fall into a diff category:

  • At work - I sit at a desk, little physical
  • At home - after keeping busy, I sit and watch tv
  • Exercise - I exercise 6 times a week and push myself.

It looks like I'm a mix between 3 diff categories! Which one would you chose?

I'm also a mix depending on the day so I list myself as sedentary and then log my activity in for each day so that it's accurate. After all I need more calories the days I spin than my rest days or days that I do yoga.  I know a lot of other people here do that as well. I just keep my deficit the same amount so on tough days I eat a bit more.

I also don't count chores, for me work at my desk and cleaning my house aren't that difficult.

For me, I put myself as sedentary because I sit in an office all day and read at night, and then add in my workouts, walking to / from work, etc. as activities.  I find that more accurate than trying to decide which category I fit into.
For me, I decided to actually see how much walking I do at work in a normal day so I got a pedometer (they are not expensive). I found out that in a normal day of work (Walking 5-10 mins from my car to the office, up and down stairs, getting up from my desk and doing normal office things) I walk a estimated 3-4 miles at work alone. I work out 4-6 times per week 30mins to 1 hour. so I put myself into the light active category. My suggestion is to put your calorie intake at what you think is right for you, keep up your exercise, and look into a pedometer. Even though I knew I walked quite a bit during the work day I didnt know that it was that much. It really surprised me. Hope this helped and I wish you the best of luck.
