Chris Farley - R.I.P. 10 Years Ago Today

Ten years ago today, on December 18, 1997, Chris Farley was found dead. He was one of my favorite performers and I was shocked when I heard the news. I remember, I was out Christmas shopping and when I got home the phone was ringing and it was my best friend. He told me Chris Farley died and I said "Yeah right, shut up" and I hung up on him. I ran in and turned on the TV and saw him on the news and knew then it was sadly true. That next summer my friend and I took a road trip up to Madison, WI to visit his gravesite. That was such a great trip, I'll never forget it. I can't believe it has been an entire decade...

R.I.P. Chris Farley... my friends and I still quote his movies all the time.  There's even someone on this site with the screen name "tommywantwingy".  His legacy lives on.

I remember the day it happened.  Can't believe it's been ten years already.

Wow 10 years, I can't say I remember the day (I was 12) but when I did come to know that he had died it was really sad, I always enjoyed his movies and acts on SNL.

I was 14 =(  That's the prime age to be a Farley fan, lol!

I was a senior in high school when he died. The next day at school my friends and I did the daily announcements and afterwards we stayed on and did Farley impressions and talked about how much he meant to us. We were threatened by the principal, but ultimately we convinced him we had no choice but to pay our respects in such a Farley-esque kind of way! 

Would have been better if you would have fell on and crushed a table in the lunch room!

haha - or do the whole motivational 'in a van down by the river' speech to the students :P

"In a van down by the river!" was definitely apart of our routine that day...

That was sad.  Hard to believe it was so long ago.  They actually closed our church for the day of his funeral because that's where it was held.
