***Christian Calorie Counters (CCC) Continues***
This thread is for the purpose of lifting up our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and in doing so, encouraging and motivating one another on their weight Loss and weight maintenance journey, and encouraging each other in life itself.
So please come and share your needs, share your successes, encourage one another, and help us motivate each other, all in the love of the Lord.
There is an ongoing challenge if you would like to participate. It starts on the first of every month and ends at the first of the next month. On the first of the month, you come to this thread and post your weight and your 3 core measurements (chest, waist, hips). Then throughout the month you collect points for different categories of the challenge. Each week you post your points for that week. The points are then updated on the thread:
Christian Calorie Counters Challenge Roster & Updates. You go to that thread just to view the list, but stay on this thread for the purpose of posting stats and points, and above all - fellowship with each other. You do NOT have to take part in the challenge in order to be a part of this group.
Original Post by 4square:Bluebird272 and liosa, you are both teens which I am certain each of us remember at least in part all the things that happen during those years. Bluebird you are correct in that you do need Him now. For both of you I want to mention something that I heard once.
When you are at school and you have a test does the teacher stand there beside you to give you help? No they don't do that because they want to see if you know what you need to know to pass it, or if you can apply what you have learned. The same is with God. When we have tests and trials He may seem like He is a million miles away, yet He still watches you. He may not lean down to you during your test to whisper an answer in your ear because He needs to see if you have learned and can apply the information He has supplied for you. He never tests us unless we have been equipped with what the test is on. He has given you what it takes to pass, trust that He still loves you more than anything.
Liosa you are beautiful to Him, the hair is so important to you, but He sees the beauty of your heart, and so do I.
Bluebird "draw close to God and He will draw close to you". I have had the struggle to pray before, and all I needed to do was humble myself enough to admit it to someone, you have done that. Now when satan tries to lie and say you are a horrible person for not praying you can come back with "I have confessed that, God has forgiven me" and then let it go. God doesn't hold grudges, I am so glad He doesn't.
You both sound like amazing teens who have what it takes to change the world, thank you for allowing me to get to know you.
Thank you for that advice and for your support. I am closer to God, like I was before, but He gives such hard tests. My mom, dad, and I all have chronic fatigue, which is a fairly new disease that there isn't currently a cure for, but we take medicine that helps. It's basicly what the names says; we're don't have a lot of energy and we get sick really easily. Well about a month ago my sister had a surgery on her sinuses and she was sick afterwards, and she hasn't gotten better since. She hasn't been able to go to school, and my parents thing she now has chronic fatigue, too. I feel so upset right now. This disease has effected my life so much, but I haven't really told my parents because I know they already feel guilty about me having it because of them. I don't want my sister's life to be effected like mine was; she's only 12 and doesn't deserve it. My parents are really upset about it, and there's nothing I can do about it but pray, and hope that God will heal her.
Hello Friends!
Well, after the second course of antibiotics, I believe I'm finally over the sinus infection! And not a moment too soon, as the wedding is just 10 days away!
We have spent a lot of time planning our ceremony to be one of Unity...between us, with our families, friends, community and, our Lord and God! A traditional Christian wedding with some very special, personal messages and music. We're really looking forward to this celebration!
Our honeymoon itinerary is coming together nicely too. A stop in Akron, OH to visit a special chapel and friends who are also soon to marry. Then to Cincinnati to see the Creation Museum. Next stop, Memphis to see Graceland )always loved Elvis's Gospel stuff). Along the Natchez Trace to New Orleans, where we'll be doing some post-Katrina volunteer work. It's over 2 years, and there's still so much to be done! And a new word has been coined for this sort of thing, "voluntourism"!
I may not post often, but you always are in my thoughts & prayers!
God Bless & Keep You!
Sue

I was watching a TV preacher the other day and I heard something that I never thought about before. She was talking about faith, and about believing that God has accomplished what we have asked Him to do before we see it done.
She made the comparison that if we invited someone, an old friend, to our house on Sunday. On Monday we would be excited because they were coming. As the week rolls on we don't question whether they are coming or not,.. we know they are coming. Saturday we are just so excited because tomorrow they will be at your house.
Now as Christians how are we? We ask God to do something, maybe we actually believe that He will do it. How are we as time goes by?? Do we get excited in anticipation or do we tend to get discouraged and lose faith. I know for myself I do the second thing...in the eleventh hour I lose faith,..... not anymore.
Let's ask God to not only heal your sister but your whole family, and then let's wait with anticipation for the evidence of those healings. God is awesome and He doesn't want us to live defeated, let's believe.
Just wanted to share my devotional with you this morning. Its from "New Day New You" by Joyce Meyer. Today's title was "Dream BIG Dreams" and the Scripture was 1 Peter 4:10 (NIV) Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.
The first part that struck me was, "But whatever we do, we should not have little ideas, dreams, or visions. Little things are important, and we should never despise the day of small things. But we ought to have big ideas, dreams, and visions because we serve a big God."
The second thought that captured my attention was: "The problem comes when we try to take the gift God has given us and use it to do what someone else is doing instead of developing our own potential. We have a part of God in us. WE ARE NOT A MISTAKE. [emphasis mine] We don't have to spend our lives on the back burner."
The last one - the clencher said this, "We are not too old or too young. We have God-given dreams and visions. But the dreams and visions God gives us for the future are possibilities not "positivelies." ... With HIM, nothing is impossible; but it takes our cooperation and willingness through determination, obedience, and hard work to develop what He has put in us."
I read that this morning and thought WOW!! I used to smoke and I so desperately wanted to quit smoking. I prayed that God would take away the desire for the need to smoke. My DH and I finally found our home church in Feb. 2000, two months later the desire to smoke was completely gone. It was completely and totally a GOD-thing.
I've been praying that God would take away the desires for certain sins - gluttony, inactivity, wrong attitudes. I read this this morning and although I've dreamed "BIG" dreams I have not always done the work. I have had fleeting moments of determination and obedience, but in the past I'd given up when the road seemed too long and too bumpy. So that is my prayer today - I believe that God is a God of possibilities and strength (Phil 4:13) and with much prayer and seeking his Will and through my cooperation (exercising and eating healthy) and determination and my obedience (like Daniel refusing the King Nebuchadnezzer's food and eating healthy choices) I shall find victory and success in my weight loss journey!!
Take care everyone.
Thanks for Sharing, Tam_ee! Today I would like to share mine from Devotionals for Dieters, found on www.crosswalk.com
Psalm 85:13 Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.
Jesus fasted forty days in the wilderness, and He was sustained by His faith. The devil came to Him and tried to tempt Him with bread, but He refused to give in. This is a good image for us to remember when we are dieting. Often we feel we cannot go on when we miss just one meal. Christ proved to us that even after missing meals for forty days, there is still a source of strength other than food. That source is God, and His strength is available to everyone who will ask for it. Let us remember to follow in the steps of Jesus Christ and lean on our heavenly Father whenever we feel weak or tempted.
Today's thought: I am facing nothing that Christ did not face before me.
Any sickness with either chronic or fatigue in the title has gotta be bad. Probably believing you are sentenced to being tired all the time for the rest of your life, and dreading that, is even worse than the physical effect. Sorry Bluebird. Makes my problems seem not so bad.
4-square how is the diet going? You still aspiring to being teeny tiny some day? How is hubby doing with it?
Wow a lot of health concerns and January blahs. How are we going to make diet progress? For those feeling ok, Wake up people! My mom is a nurse at Hospice and they gave them a handout on how to increase energy. Here are a few of them.
Foods to eat to increase energy: Alaskan salmon, blueberries, walnuts, almonds.
Take a little walk every day. Smile while doing it.
Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else is.
Make peace with the past so it doesnt screw up the future.
Clear away excess clutter from house, desk, car, yard.
Spend more time with people over 70 and under 5 years old.
What do y'all do to get energy? And try to mix a few practical answers in with the Sunday School answers will ya? (Not to be cynical but a few of us aren't super Christians yet) (and may never be at the rate I am going) lol
Original Post by liosa:
its hard for me to pray, becuase i dont really 'know how' or whatever, it kind of feels like im talking and im 'hoping' hes hearing me u know?
Liosa - I've learned the best way to pray is to just talk to God the way you would your best friend using your everyday words. Prayer doesn't have to have fancy words and it doesn't have to be "churchy" either. I write a lot of my prayers down too, but whether I write or say them - I whine, I cry, I SHOUT OUT!! He knows everything before you're going to say it, so tell HIM like you're feeling it and try not to hide your emotions. Curl up in his arms in his lap and just talk to him. Plain and simple.
Lifting you up in his name!! Tammy
zeroexcuses- Me and my hubby are doing ok. Yep...he is still sticking to his diet, and he is currently having better luck at having the scale show his difference. I am in a slump but trying as hard as ever to be "teeny tiny" someday. Scale is hardly moving for me but the person in the mirror looks better and clothes aren't fitting because they are too big.
Nope,,...I am not a super Christian either, but I am still striving to be the best Christian (follower of Christ) I can be. If forks gets a cape I want one too!!
Here is something that you all might get a chuckle out of...my Senior Pastor and my hubby...preacherboy are going to race cars this year on a local dirt track. If it was anyone else wanting my hubby to get in a race car I would strongly object, but watching my Senior Pastor act like a little kid when he talks about it is contagious, and I can't tell my husband no. It won't be too dangerous because the cars can't go much faster than 40 mph on a 1/2 mile dirt track in a Cavalier, with only stock parts. The season runs from April thru Sept. and almost every Saturday night. They are collecting sponsers right now, and I am doing the artwork on the cars ( finally I am famous...lol!!)
I'm SO excited to post this morning....

Obstacles - the biggest obstacle for me generally is the weekend. I tend to eat out of boredom and not healthy items either. This weekend I really planned to be out of the house as much as possible. The other obstacle we met up with some friends and had a potluck. We brought something reasonable, but its always a question as to what the other couples would bring...but it worked out fine.
I haven't found an exercise program yet, or at least I haven't incorporated one into my schedule. So last week my goal was to get in as much extra exercise just by getting up and moving around more at the office. So I climbed the stairs every other day, had a regular glass of water on my desk rather than a big one forcing me to walk to the breakroom, took the long route to the restroom...so all the extra walking paid off. Sometime last year I had purchased a nice pedometer, so today I'm going to walk my normal extra walking to find out a base of how many steps or miles I walk by the end of the day and then set a goal of double that amount to reach daily for the rest of the week.
Tamee ... woo hoo!
=^..^= MOLLY
Hooray for tamm_ee! Awesome loss!
4Square, my Pastor participates in the annual "Faster Pastor" race at the local dirt track too! What started out as a joking challenge has turned into an annual fund raiser!
Just 4 more days till the Wedding! I am so looking forward to the Blessing of Marriage! And to having the families unified by God's Grace!
God Bless, all!
