I just found this site and am getting ready to start a new routine...AGAIN! But I am going to stick to it this time! I can do all things through Christ! I am a 31 (almost 32) year old stay at home mother of 2. I homeschool and have gotten too sedentary and need to get my butt in gear! I know my husband is getting tired of hearing about all this! It is time to JUST DO IT! Any Christian's out there looking for accountablity partners??

At the top of the page where it reads logged in as... you will see an envelope if you have mail. You have to confirm your e-mail address to get more then two IM's a day.
Oh, I think I get it..
How do I "confirm my email address" to do that?
Hi ~ Welcome to Calorie-count :)

Hi! I am a bit older than you. I homeschool my son. I need to loose about 30 pounds.
Have you read any of Jordan Rubin's books? ( I saw him on Paula White last year.)
Have you read any of Jordan Rubin's books? ( I saw him on Paula White last year.)
Just a suggestion to you homeschooling parents. Try involving your kids and make it a part of your homeschool program. Go out and do some fun physical exercise together. Then your kids will grow up with an attitude of staying healthy.
Count me in, angel75. This 'temple' is in desperate need!!
Wow!! So nice to see so many replies since I was last in here! Nice to have you all welcome me aboard! Would you all want to form a support group to keep each other accountable and pray for one another??
Thank you United2gether for helping confirm my email address! I did it! Ha! Guess I am not as slow as I thought! LOL!
Beachwalker, yes I have seen Jordan on Paula White and ALOT of other shows. Actually my Dad just got his Maker's Diet book and I borrowed it just the other day. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet. Right now in this phase I am going to focus only on excercise and plenty of it! I am going to burn at least 500 calories a day cardio and do strength training work outs 3 times a week. I need to loose around 45-50 pounds! Right now I am 170-173 and want to get down to the 120's. So join in! We can do it together!
Mickisdaddy, that is a great idea for homeschoolers! The kids would love it and it would teach them to take care of their bodies too. What things do you suggest? How about joining the YMCA too? Or a family sport off thing with other families.. that would be cool.
Hello kimalawrie! I got you counted in for sure!! Our temple makeover is about to take off!
I am going to add you all to my friends list. If you want you can add me to yours too!
I know we can do all things through Christ and we are more than conquerors! We can acheive this for a lifetime! Lets kick this weight's booty once and for all and never have to do it again, by keeping a healthy lifestyle... not a diet! Whose with me! Lets kick it out the door and never let it come back!!!

Hey angelab75! Welcome!
My family is christian. And my Mum home-schools me and my siblings.
It's nice to know that there's some other people that actually home-school their kids, lol.
Take care, and | hope you learn a lot here and reach your goals!

Hey! Thanks aio! I am sure I will! I hope you do the same! God Bless! Feel free to stop in and give me pointers anytime! I need younger input! I still feel young anyway! It's great to see young people taking care of their bodies too! Hope you set a trend and get alot of others on board with you in your journey. I know alot of people will likely notice and wonder what you did.
aio.. I just read your profile! Way to go! That is awesome!! Keep up the good work! But you sound fine to me already!! I am 5'2" and I want to weigh in the 120's! I know at your age that probably sounds huge! It did to me too! Always feel free to come in and give us advice or just to say hey! That is provided we actually start a group! IF these people don't think I am completely nuts! Ha! As you may have learned everybody... by now you should see that I am a nut! But this has to be fun right!
that would be me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another christian here **raises hand**
I started out with just an exercise program and cutting softdrinks. I was ignorant about calorie counting. Still I lost 15 pounds that way and then plateued at 220 (I'm a 6' tall guy) for months. I found out about calorie couting on April 2nd... and found this site within a day of that when looking up foods.
If you are going to do it, don't go half way like I did. Sure I lost some weight but it was pretty discouraging not knowing for so long that I was sabotaging my own hard workouts at the gym with what i was eating. Use the tools here... if you list yourself as sedentary then add to the calories it tells you for your Allowance whatever you burn through exercise.
Currently I'm in a body shaping mode. I lost 16 pounds just counting calories and exercising since April 2nd... now as the fat is dropping I'm building more muscles so the weightloss isn't looking as dramatic on the scale but it does show up in my measurements.
That's my one tip to you (beyond counting calories)... MEASUREMENTS. Get a sheet of paper, measure all the key areas relaxed. Upper arms, lower arms, upper legs, lower legs, chest, stomach (over belly button), hips & neck. I was suprised by my neck measurements. To see even 1/2 an inch drop from here is pretty interesting.
Oh yeah I got another tip... WATER. Give up everything else and get on the water train. It takes some time to get used to it but 2.5 liters of water a day will help you release a lot of water weight and help keep your weightloss steady when reading the scale.
Again, I'm a christian guy... I'm 33 and married and my wife and I have produced 3 beautiful boys :) . I'm on the forums pretty regularly... if you have any q's feel free to post em to the general forum... most everyone here is on the same train of downsizing or has been there and is happy to help out... without regards even for faith.

Thank you nightc1. I will definitely listen to your advice. Thanks for your imput. I added you to my friends list so I could find you again if I had questions! LOL! I hope that is okay! Well, I could ask you one now actually... If I want to lose 3 pounds a week and I burn 500 calories a day how many should I eat???
Hey Angelab75...i see that you have not seen the other wonderful parts of this site. Click the Tools on the top of the page, next to Account and Community. There will be a few tools that you could use to help you determine the amount of calories you need on a typical day (Expenditure) to maintain your present weight, and the amount of calories you need on a typical day to reach your goal weight (Allowance). Go through both of these parts and enter your info in, it will then give you the amount of calories you typically burn and the amount of calories to reach your goal weight, respectively. If you have any probs, I could try to write this in detail...just let me know. I've also sent you another private message, in case you dont read this...
I got your message timsmom. Thanks. I went to allowance, but I don't really know which to pick for burning 500 calories a day??? Moderately active?? I will be burning 500 calories a day on the treadmill 7 days a week and doing strength training (lifting light weights and squats and stuff) 3 times a day. So what would you call that according to the "Allowance" page??
spirit filled Christian here. So, I guess we can call ourselves the CCC's tee/hee/hee
I'm sorta new and the people here are great. I've gotten the most help from Nightc1 and to my surprise tonight I see him in the CCC's
group. P.T.L.
I'm trying to figure out something tonight.
I yo-yo'd up and down the same 30 pounds 170#-200# for 20 years.
size 14 through the whole ordeal. On the low end they are loose
the high end tight. Or really just hurrying to get down so my clothes fit.
when I had low blood sugar hit me 2 years ago. I had to eat like
every 2 hours. Sometimes 3. Very annoying actually. Not to mention I claim by his stipes I'm already healed not going to be.
it's past tense. (this is fun talking this way).
I prayed about this. I got the notion to drink water. Well, it helped
me go longer without eating. I thought gee I can finally eat less.
On a good day I was having 1800. On a bad day 2200 and
on pms days 2600. This is what I felt I was doing but I could be wrong. I didn't keep track everyday. Hit and miss. But if you had told me I was consuming 2600 every day I would have a hard time believing that but i won't say it wasn't so.
Ok are you with me? (preacher style)
Ok so I went from 200 up to 224# in two years. I gained 2 pounds
every month.
Ok so we all know that it takes 3500 calories to gain a pound.
So, that means I was consuming 7k calories too much each month.
I'm trying to figure out the math of this.
I believe you take your weight and times it by 12
So, 12 X 224# = 2688 calories. ( I feel I didn't have this many calories everyday but I'll pretend I did for the maths sake?)
If you take 7k and divide it by 30 days I was consuming 234
extra calories a day to make myself gain 2 pounds a month.
I have NO idea where I'm going with this. That's just it I'm
trying to figure out if there is anything to figure out.
So, on CC they have the TOOLS and so I put my current weight
of 217 and my goal weight of 137
It tells me that I should consume 1250 calories a day and by
next year 2008 I'd weigh 137
I'd be loosing 1.5 a week at that rate.
Of course with my exercises 6 days a week I "eat-that" which
puts me at 1500-1550 range. My elliptical machine I burn up
250-300 calories in 30 minutes. I pick (I think) the hardest level.
I will say That is my avg. calories since starting this "way of life" the 1500 calories. I have a few days I do a few hundred more. I call it my zig zag days. Or pms days.
so, what's my question?
I guess I'm trying to read between the lines about my consistant
2# gain each month so perfectly done. How did I gain 2# perfectly
every month for 2 years. Ok, I think I know. I went from 200 up to 224. I went from eating 2400 calories up to 2688 which makes sense to me if that's true. I was eating a little more with the blood sugar issue. That would be the extra 234 calories and that made me gain 2pounds faithfully each month. wow what a few hundred calories can do to you. I think there was no stopping it either.
I mean would I have contineued to climb.....that makes me think
that FAT people aren't eating as much as we think but rather putting on a little each year!!! Which adds up. What do you think about that thought?
According to my math that's 7k calories extra each month.
I divided that by 30 days. That meant I was eating an extra 234
calories a day to gain the weight
I guess this is my question.....if I had eaten 234 caloires less
each day what weight would I have been? I'll try to answer this.
I guess 200 which would be right. You guys. I'm sitting here
figuring out my life's problem WEIGHT and I guess I never knew
it could be "figured" out. In black and white. Could I call this
my epiphany?
According to CC 224# means I'm consuming 2688
If I subtract 234 calories from that I get 2454 calories a day.
I'm saying this is what I was consuming before my diet began.
According to CC a person my age/height/ consuming 2454
calories living a sedendary life would weigh 205 pounds.
Gee I guess that's right.
This is for me now: 5'5" 39 years old Female sedendary
weight: 200 equals 2400 calories
&nb sp; 190 equals 2280 calories
&nb sp; 180 equals 2160 calories
&nb sp; 170 equals 2040 calories
&nb sp; 160 equals 1920 calories
&nb sp; 150 equals 1800 calories
&nb sp; 140 equals 1680 calories
My Goal 137 equals 1644 calories
I have no idea what I'm getting at. I'm sitting here staring at this
and thinking.
This is what I think. I think I just need to chill out. Do the 1500
calories and exercise and see where I get. I really want to
know if I want to weigh 137 that eating the 1644 will get me there.
That seems impossible or to simple. Only time will tell.
And I will be an exerciser so that means I'll be adding to that
1644 an extra 250 calories for a total say about 1900 for the day.
OK if 137 and exercising requires 1900 calories a day why
then do I need to only do 1500 calories now? That's a good question isn't it?
What if I consumed 1900 calories how long would it take until
I weigh 137? Anyone figure that out?
I hesitate in posting this long thought process here....
I think I'll copy and paste this to ponder.
I just didn't know you could turn the problem of losing weight into
a math problem.
This is new to me and I thought I was a diet pro. My eyes are opened up now since stumbling across CC.
Gone are the days I thought I had to eat next to nothing to
lose weight. yet I also see that my calories were really adding
up and yet it didn't feel like I was doing anything wrong.
Infact, I felt like I was holding back from all I wanted. yikes.
What a roller coaster dieter I've been. When all along I just
needed to cut calories and exercise Journal and drink water.
I do thank the Lord for helping me. When I see my goal met
I will "know" it was the Lord helping me because I've spent
a life time trying to figure this out.
