As much as we would all love to believe that Christmas Calories don't count, they really do. Here are some of the things that I do (or will be doing) to help me keep on track.
Always keep a couple of bottles of water in the car and one in your purse. Being indoors more will dry you out, so often when you are hungry you are really just thirsty.
Have a snack before you leave the house and keep an emergency stash in the car or your purse. I am fond of certain protein, meal replacement and vitamin bars. I always have a couple on me as they don't go bad when not refrigerated and they carry me over until I can get home, keeping me away from the food court and drive through.
Take extra care on big dinner days. On the days when I know I am going to have a calorie heavy dinner I tend to eat only fruit and veggies during the day as their calorie count is really low. I also tend to drink more tea so that I eat less all around. I still watch my portions at dinner but at least I feel a more free to try a little of everything.
Don't forget to exercise. Even if it is just parking further away or doing an extra lap around the mall at a faster pace, just get up and move around. Do something you enjoy!
No matter what you will be celebrating this season I hope all of you have fun! Mazel Tov!
