Couple suggestions;
Yes lots of water helps you break the fat and IF YOU ADD LEMON( even just half no sugar) it will help more.
Lots of fiber help you DETOX your body so do not forget to add our friendly lettuce to add your diet. Here is one recepie that I love and would like to share;
Iceberg lettuce( 1 pound) bite size cuts
2 tablespoon dry parsley
1 tablespoon Ekstra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoon dill
1 medium size tomato
3 table spoon green onions
1/4 chicken breast( grilled) it is wonderful for nights. It is a lot to eat and also low in calorie
Hi. I just found this site today but I have been working really hard since June 28. I have lost 31 lbs and have done it a number of ways... walking with a 3 year old, aquasize, running, following weight watcher points and setting a goal. I wanted to lose 40 lbs before turning 40. I have 15 days left so I will get close. Since setting the goal I have decided to push through the winter and keep losing. I cannot imagine myself at 124lbs, as this site says, but who knows....

Congratulations Trudystiles! That's amazing! What a great success!!!
Hi there!
I am absolutely up for a challenge until Christmas! I would love to fit into my black suit again for our office christmas party beginning of Dec. but I am not sure if I'll make it... we'll see...
Anyway - I started with 260 lb on Aug 21. Today I am at 247lb - loss of 13 lb in my first month. I have considerably slowed down since the 2nd week, losing 1 lb per week, which is ok for me (even though of course I wish for more).
Christmas Goal: 230 lb
We have 13 weeks until Christmas...
I am working out every morning before I go to work (office). 30 min eliptical, 30 min walking on a treadmill at 3 mph. I try to eat not more than 1900 cal per day (doesnt always work as I am an emotional eater).
I still eat chocolate/sugar but much less than before... unless my boss stresses me out. Then I am eating a whole box of Godiva in no time!
:o) All the best of luck to everyone!

Starting weight: 235

Goal Weight For Christmas: 163
I have been loosing weight at a rapid rate this past couple of weeks due to the couch to 5k. I am still only eating 1200 calories and burning an extra 250 calories on top of what my body burns just in daily life. So I am burning an extra 1500 cal a week. :D The weight has just been melting away thank goodness. I don't want to jinx it but I'm very happy with the way things are going so far!!
Starting weight 9/10-09: 240
Current weight: 232
Goal Weight for Christmas: 210
I was very pleased to see the scale lose 2lbs. since last week's weighin. There were several rough spots this last week between stress, hormones and the annual settlers craft fair in town. Who can resist yummy chicken and dumplings and maple creams and ham and beans w/cornbread? Ok, I mostly did! :) I had a 6oz. serving of the chicken and dumplings--the will power that was exercised that day was monsterous! I know I've only lost 8lbs. so far this time but I still feel really confident that I'll reach my goal weight by Christmas. It actually seems doable this time! I realized when I joined this group that my past weight loss goals were totally unrealistic, that I needed smaller goals to work towards so I don't get discouraged and give up. I'm to the point where I look forward to my gym time--it's me and my MP3 player, focusing on me instead of my hubby or daughter or boss, etc. I can't say that I look forward to the working out part but I like seeing the calories burnt on my heart monitor or the distance I walked on the treadmill.
Best of luck to everyone! Keep up the hard work--you're all awesome!

Hi Mommakem!
Congrats ! 2 lb is awesome for one week! well done! You can be very proud of yourself! Just imagine how much butter that is!!
And hey - I am soooo with you! I actually start enjoying going to the gym! Done that for a month now and the truly best part is watching the numbers on the treadmill computer go up and up and up ... distance, calories burnt, time... yay! So great!!!

I can also report a little loss again:
Start weight: 260
Current weight: 245 (-2)
Goal weight xmas: 230
Total loss: -15 lb
I just joined this group and am looking for some daily support, so the christmas challenge seems great... I'm in!
I would like to lose 15 lbs. by christmas. I have been working out regularly for close to 6 weeks now, but my real issues lies with my diet. I'm a binge eater, especially at night. I work as a bartender so my hours are unconventional and I tend to graze rather than eat real balanced meals. In the past I have been able to maintain my weight, but I have noticed the older I get, the more weight I'm holding on to. To make things worse, I have been binging on really unhealthly foods, ones high in sugar and fat. I feel like I'm spinning out of control. working out has started to balance the effects of my bad eating but will never be the answer. I need to work out and eat right! So I'm joining the challenge to help me keep my focus...everyday!
I too was a binge eater.. it takes me practice and concentration not to revert back to old eating habbits. Night time was my big problem too. What i do is eat four meals... I dont do the two snacks because I know i'm going to be hungry no matter what I do in the evening. I eat 8am, 11am, 4-5pm then again around 7:30-8pm. Usually my evening meal is something like a sandwich or bowl of cereal. A small meal. WHen I eat I only eat what I say I'm going to and don't go back for seconds.. SOmetimes my mind plays trickson me and makes me believe i need more food than i actually do making me think i'm hungry but if i concentrate on what my stomach really feels i find i'm not hungry after all. Also more important than everything else I log everything i eat!!! EVERYTHING that has calories, tea, coffee and food. I plan my food for the day in the morning before I eat a thing. Then i know how many calories i'm going to have through out the day and if I need to adjust through out the day i do that but havign that guidline to follow helps me alot. I have lost 54 lbs since feb 22 2009 doing these simple things.. its only been three weeks that i've been exercising. SO good luck to you. Feel free to add me as a friend and email me
AGain GOood luck

I absolutely second that! Planning meals for at least the same day in advance is the best way for me to keep within the calorie range and not being hungry at night or "not having any calories left over"!
I sometimes adjust my plan during the day as well or change the dinner so I can have some chocolate afterwards... but usually I stick to it.
Wow - 54 lb lost in just 7 months is amazing! That's a really great and I am very happy for you Truleefrea!
Cheers to everyone

Hi there... mmmhh... I seem to be the only one who is online daily, eh?!
Well... since yesterday I am at home... staying on the sofa with a head cold. Working from here is kind of nice. At least I can stay in my sweats! :o) And the best is: this cold is making me lose weight! 4 lb in two days! And I am not even hungry! I can't taste anything anyway... :o))

OMG ... only 11 lb to go... in 12 weeks. That should work! Yeah!!!
What a great challenge! I seriously need the motivation, ladies. As the temps get colder, I go for warm, gooey carbs and hot chocolate. Ugh! Count me in, and I'll check in with my stats tomorrow!
Thanks for the great idea!

Despite a leg infection that kept me out of the gym for 3days last weekend and two not-so-healthy working lunches, I still managed to lose a pound. Yea! Im back at the gym and trying to stay motivated. Let's keep plugging along! We can do it!

Hi I would like to join your Christmas challenge. I lose slow so I don’t think I can do 30 lbs but would love to try for 20.

I think that to lose 10 POUNDS A MONTH for three consecutive months is INSANE. It's TOO fast! I am wondering why nobody else is having this reaction?! I once lost 40 pounds in 3.5 months under supervised STARVATION diet of 800 calories a day. Eating and working out the way one would need to do to lose this much is NOT a lifestyle that one can maintain one's goal weight! PLEASE, Please do NOT set yourselves up to (likely) fail at reaching this unhealthy goal of TOO FAST weight lost. There are no quick fixes. WE KNOW this (don't we??!!).
Anyway, for all of you who are excited about this site and using it to raise your awareness of how we eat and to change to a healthier lifestyle, I am excited too- but this is ONLY one part of this journey. Weight LOSS is actually the EASY part, believe it or not. MAINTAINING will be the hard part if we lose too fast and dont learn how to eat healthily in the process. Im a former binge eater and no site in the world could have 'fixed' that problem. Emotional eating is not to be taken lightly and will NOT be resolved through quick weight loss (which brings me back to 30 lbs loss in 3 months being insane!)
Anyway, I just couldn't read through all these posts without commenting. Unrealistic expectations are a HUGE drag (and why set ourselves up for inevitable disappointment when we dont reach or goal of 30lbs in 3 months and/OR end up gaining it all back (fast weight loss usually ends up in rapid weight gain!)
That's all, best of luck and may we ALL learn how to LIVE healthily and happily around food through a healthy, reasonable weight loss and this sight and support!
Samantha
Welcome Akcorina and azule08!
I can absolute feel the cold creeping up as well and dream of hot chocolate as well! Carbs... yumm!! But instead of potatoe mash I just had 2 large butternut squash, baked in the oven with a little brown sugar. Very good too and almost as tasty as gooey carbs!
So let's hear more about your regimen! What kind of exercise do you prefer and what is your favorite low cal dish? How did you lose your first 23 lb Corina? What would you say is your personal 'secret'?
Well done Mommaken! I am very happy for you to lose 1 lb! Sowly but surely we are getting to our goals! My goal is to lose 1 or 1.5 lb per week... I rather lose slowly and feel full and happy! :o)
Samanthasuerte: Relax! If you would have taken some more time to read through the posts you would find that most of us are not planning to lose 20 or 30 lb until Christmas but 14 lb like Corina or 10-15 lb like me from today on. It's still 12 weeks/3 months and 15 lb would mean a very healthy and reasonable loss. Also Truleefree started this post on Aug 31st. That was 17 weeks/4 months until Christmas. 1.5 - 2 lb loss per week is still considered healthy. It's nice to share your experiences with weight loss and maintenance but please don't lecture us in something we all know and cherish!
Mermaid,
Well, I have to be honest with you, my loss has been super, super slow. It's been almost 2 years since I began this journey. I'm having difficulty staying motivated because my losses are so hard won and so slow. I tell myself that any loss is better than none, but lately I haven't been on track at all.
That's why I thought this might be a good motivator for me. I love to do Jazzercise (though I always imagine people snickering because they think of leotards and legwarmers) because when I get there it is a whole hour of excercise that someone else has engineered to work all the right muscles in the right way.
Mmmmmm . . . I LOVE butternut squash. Great idea - I just need to watch the brown sugar and butter I like to eat with it.
Haven't done well this week . . . what do you all do to stay inspired?
Corina
Well back at 182, not surprised after the weekend I had. Bachelorette party from 5:00 pm -4:00 am, plenty of food & alcohol.
But on the bright side, I have this cute leather jacket (size XL) that I haven’t been able to close in 5 years (I needed about 4 inches to close) so I decided to try it on. Not only did it completely close without squishing my boobs it overlapped by an inch on each side! I’m already envisioning how I’m going to rock it this winter.
Well I started in April at 213 and I have lost about 1 lbs a week, slow but it adds up after time. I count calories & do the elliptical for about 35 min then I do strength training for another 30 min. But I really haven’t done much of anything this last month. I have a whole bunch of excuses so I gain 2 lbs back argh!
I seen on the Biggest Loser the other day that they were recommending mashed cauliflower in place of potatoes & I want to try that. My family loves my mashed potatoes so I probably won’t be able to get them to switch but maybe I can mix the potato & cauliflower together. I dunno we’ll see. Oh and I lettuce wrap everything, that saves alot on calories.
I’m not in any hurry to lose. It would be awesome to be a goal weight overnight but I know that isn’t going to happen, Plus I wouldn’t have learned anything. So as long as I keep losing my 1 lbs a week I’m happy.
