25-35 Pounds By Christmas? ***GROUP CLOSED***
Christmas is approximately 22 weeks away, give or take a few days. I would like to lose a minimum of 28 pounds by then...but losing 35 pounds would be even more awesome!!! I think this is a healthy and realistic goal...25-35 pounds in about, let's call it 21 weeks, is the equivalent of losing 1.19-1.66 pounds a week.
Would anyone like to join me? I would like to find a group of committed people who can support one another and celebrate together all along the way. Is anyone with me? I find it easiest to weigh in on Fridays, but we can each weigh in whenever. Just check in and support one another at least twice a week!
I currently weigh 222.4...I am trying to get to 195 by Christmas and 188 would be downright awesome!
Reason: moved to a more appropriate forum
Good Morning all. R, so happy to hear your son is doing better, I can only imagine the fright. V, I had worried about CC being a little compulsive for me also, but I feel much better after last week. I went on vacation, didn't count anything, didn't weigh anything and I was fine. It was a little weird the first day, but after that I just (cautiously) coasted. When I came home I went back to counting, exercising and weighing. That was very reassuring to me, that I can stop and then re-start. There is so much excitement going on here in this group, people hitting big numbers in the weight loss, small numbers in the pant sizes, I can't wait to see the other posts this morning. No telling what new exercise Melinda perfected this week too! Happy Friday Everyone!!

Achievement of the week: I did well staggering my calories this week, and when I lost the pound, it stayed off on the scale, so maybe I am finally getting the hang of this, and could actually lose "2" pounds in one week! Secondly, my measurements went from 45-41-50 to 44-36-48. I have an hourglass figure... a bighourglass, lol, but an hourglass nonetheless!
R4, I am glad your son is OK.
A_mc, I have no new exercises this week... while I did learn the correct way to do the squats and lunges, I hadn't practiced doing them in sets of 30 as my physical fitness colleague recommended. So Monday I went into our conference room and practiced 30 lunges and squats and did them reasonably well... that is until after I tried to get up to go to lunch, and my legs were so wobbly that I almost fell! I had to get another colleague to help me walk around a little to regain my leg strength! It was hilarious! Needless to say, I am practicing them at HOME now with my 5lb dumbbells and doing much better!
V, I think it is good to eventually wean yourself off counting when you are ready, so that your healthy eating lifestyle will seem more normal to you. Since I have so much weight to lose, I probably will count until my first anniversary with CC - that way by then I know I will have covered every holiday, birthday, vacation, wedding, and any other event where I would have to be concerned about the calories I consume. I think after a year, I will have pretty much covered what I want to eat and will have most of the calories committed to memory. Additionally, I should have the bad stuff also committed to memory and have a true sense of how to eat in moderation.
It's true that we seem to have lost some comrades on the way on this post. If you are following this thread but not posting because you fell off the wagon or somehow got distracted, please come back as we are all in this together, and falling off is a part of the process. We can still help each other reach our goal.
It's raining like crazy here in NY! Have a great weekend, and keep your money under your mattress! ![]()
Good morning!
Thank you A_mckh and Melinda for sharing your thoughts on counting... It has given me something to think about before going cold turkey! =)
I've had a great week so far ~ I kept up with my workouts and ate really well. The only thing bothering me right now is an allergic reaction I developed to a topic cream (still can't figure out if it's my new cleanser, new acne med, or new sunscreen) but otherwise things are looking good!!
I am happy to report that I am doing cartwheels as I type this (well, did them before but it's all the same!)... The 161 plateau is gone and hopefully never to be seen again! So here are the numbers...

I've not counted calories all week and it shows. It's been a real stressful week and I haven't been able to cook. We've spent most days at the hospital having tests done. Thank God my son does not have tumors and will be fine. I need to get back on track this week. I haven't walked in two weeks and really miss it. I'm really disappointed in myself, I wanted to leave the 170's behind me. I don't see me making the christmas goal. 13 weeks left and I need 15 lbs. Must work harder.
Hi - just checking in. Sorry I missed last week, I was away on vacation with no computer access. After being away for 2 weeks I really did not want to get on the scale - but I have lost...???!!! Amazing! We did do a lot of walking. I feel really positive at the moment, long may it last...!

Happy moment of the week: We booked and put the deposit down on our B&B elopement. Shhhh! Don't tell anyone! In about 70 days my bf and I will be married <3 (I can't call him my finance yet because he still has to get me the ring - ha!)
Congrats Ali! you will make a beautiful bride.. =)
Let's - Way to go on the vacation loss... that's the best kind!
Alle - Congrats! I'll keep it under my hat! Enjoy the honeymoon - it burns a lot of calories!
Ali - congratulations on your plan, how wonderful that the two of you are able to come up with a plan to make this special and "you". All your hard (diet/exercise) work will seem SO worth it when you look at pictures from your special day.
I second all the congrats to all the losers v, alle, lets to name a few. It's great to lose on vacation! Oh ladies........this week was not good! I saw 219.4 one day...but that was it. I am up 1# but I am fluctuating so much I don't know where to say I am right now! I am kinda in a motivation rut. I know what I have to do to lose the weight and I want to do it, but I still ate what I wanted and didn't exercise!( I am going to give myself a little break, I had the flu!) Help me stay on track this week! I hope to be one of the big losers next friday!
Hi everyone!
alle - congrats on your up coming marriage, lovely news! I wish you both health and happiness.
melinda - thanks!
leslie - thanks! Sorry to hear you have had a bad week. Good idea to give yourself a little break, and your body will need some good food to help it recover from the flu - lots of protein, fruit and veggies. If you eat a little extra protein this week, it will help you not to feel hungry and that will help to keep you on track. Don't forget the water! If you don't feel up to strenuous exercise, just walk. I'm back up to about 12,500 steps per day now which gives me a good 500 calorie deficit. Thinking of you - you can do this!
a-mckh- Thanks for the support with my son. We are really still reeling from it all. I'm trying to get back on track with calorie counting and walking but haven't been very successful. Hopefully by the end of Oct. things will be "normal" again.

Challenge weight loss - 11.8 lbs, 10.2 pounds to Challenge Goal. We are leaving for Christmas vacation on December 19, so I have 11 weeks to lose 10.2 pounds. I'm a little worried about Thanksgiving though, we are visiting with my Aunt for 5 days, so it could be a rough week for me diet/exercise wise.
Good week, I began the C25K program this week, I run W1D3 today. My daily burn (according to CC+) keeps dropping at an alarming rate, but I get hungry if I eat less than 1300 calories a day. At some point my only deficit will come from exercise I fear. The weather is really cooling off quickly, so hopefully I can get firmly into this running program and I am prepared when the weather gets worse. We shall see. I'm really committed to sticking it out for the 9 weeks, if at the end of the 9 weeks I don't think I want to run, I will give it up, but unless an unexpected injury pops up, I am going to give it 9 weeks.
lets - I know this probably sounds shallow, but please do not give up, are you drinking plenty of water?
r4e - very wise move on your part to give yourself until the end of the month to truly get back on track. Even though you may not need to heal from anything medically, you certainly need to heal emotionally from the fears you had.
leslie - now that you're feeling better did you see something that looked like 219.4 again?!
v_ - you did cartwheels last week, what type of skill have you picked up this week, backward handsprings or something perhaps?!
ali - how are you doing making wedding plans? I wonder how many calories are burned by dreaming about the perfect wedding??
melinda - I keep thinking about the office lunges, maybe you should start teaching a class at work? If you made a new rule that at meetings everyone has to stand and rotate through a series of lunges and other forms of exercise torture while listening, I bet those meetings would wrap up much more quickly!!
Hope everyone had an awesome week and the weekend will be even better. Keep up all the great work ladies!
Well I'm back from my extended vacation, and after plateuing for awhile finally making some progress on the scale with a 3 lb loss this week!
I'm down 8 pounds now from the beginning of the challenge. Ack! At this point I'll be happy to lose 20-25 in time for christmas!
On the plus side, I have lost about 6 inches across my chest. (why does the chest always go first? I could really use the belly to go away!)

It is very motivating to read the posts again, I haven't done that for a while. Congratulations everyone for sticking with this and for all your progress. Does anyone know what happened to Betsy?
Have a good week everyone!
Good Monday Morning!
leslie, v_ and jafzelius - you ladies are doing so awesome, keep up the hard work, we'll all be looking forward to another update on Friday.
lets - remember, if one day at a time seems too much, it's one meal at a time. Keep counting your calories, keep drinking water and keep your body moving, you're due for a great weigh-in, maybe Friday?!
Have a great week everyone.
<Betsy has not logged into CC since mid-September, I've been watching her profile for the last week or so. Hopefully she is just busy and will pop back on and surprise us!>
I seem to suck at posting my weights on time, lol! I'm keeping track, but for whatever reason, I never remember to post after I weigh. This week it was because I was so thrilled with the weight I saw, lol! I guess the one good thing that came from the hurricane weight gain was that it re-motivated me and made me get my butt in gear! Yay for the 160s! :-)
