25-35 Pounds By Christmas? ***GROUP CLOSED***

Quote  |  Reply

Christmas is approximately 22 weeks away, give or take a few days. I would like to lose a minimum of 28 pounds by then...but losing 35 pounds would be even more awesome!!! I think this is a healthy and realistic goal...25-35 pounds in about, let's call it 21 weeks, is the equivalent of losing 1.19-1.66 pounds a week.
Would anyone like to join me? I would like to find a group of committed people who can support one another and celebrate together all along the way. Is anyone with me? I find it easiest to weigh in on Fridays, but we can each weigh in whenever. Just check in and support one another at least twice a week!
I currently weigh 222.4...I am trying to get to 195 by Christmas and 188 would be downright awesome!

Achievement of the week:  Well, this weekend and week have been quite challenging for my family and me...  We just found out my mother-in-law (69)has stage III breast cancer, and had been taking chemo and going through the whole process by herself for a month (she didn't want us to worry.)  Now that she has finally opened up, we are helping her through the process.  Yesterday, my daughter woke up with her lip swollen up to her nose, and it turned out to be a spider bite!  Needless to say, I rely heavily upon God to get me through such things, so I am good!

I just realized that I did not address my achievement.  I guess it would be remembering to eat something while I've been running around like crazy. I am also down 20.2 pounds, 9 of which occurred during this challenge.

A_mckh- You know you will definitely reach your goal by vacation time - you are doing great.  Just be careful not to gain any while your on vacation... Christmas time is a great time to walk around and see the beautiful sights or lifting weights as you are carrying heavy shopping bags of goodies and gifts!

Jaf - I see your numbers are headed in the right direction!  Congrats!

Les - Congrats on the loss.  This is the only place where we can be excited about being a bunch of losers! **holds up hand to make the"L" sign**

Ally- Way to go!  It good to see you in the 160's!

Challenge weight loss - 13.4  lbs, 8.6 pounds to Challenge Goal

Nice job on your loss this week v_ - hopefully we will get some others who are running a little behind this week!

zena, alle, lets, zafzelius, leslie, allydan, jaf - hope to "see" all of you soon.  Melinda, hope things with your MIL are going better this week, I'm sure she will be more comfortable and confident with the support of her family.

 Hi everyone!

Okay, so it looks like I started celebrating too soon... For whatever reason, my weight is way up today.  I've been so good lately, too!  Le sigh.  Oh well... Maybe I'm retaining water for some reason and next week I'll be back in the 160s!  A girl can only hope!  I'm beginning to suspect that I won't make my Christmas goal, though, which is kinda a bummer.  Twenty-two pounds in 11 weeks seems a wee bit ambitious during the holiday season.  Maybe if I'm not seeing some improved numbers after TOM next week I'll revise my goals just so I have something achievable to work towards.

a_mckh - thanks for the advice about one meal at a time!  I will try to keep it in mind this week.  I have been doing a lot of walking  and remembering to drink water, but I have been eating more than I intended - I have no excuse.  I must draw a line under it and start fresh tomorrow.

melinda - so sorry to hear about your MIL.  Thank goodness she told you at last so that you can support her.

My MIL died in her sleep at home Wednesday in the presence of her sons... they say it was a pulmonary embolism.  My husband, daughter, family and church family are inconsolable...  I have remained emotionless I guess trying to be strong for my husband, daughter, and BIL and to help them take care of business.  The tears just won't come and everything is surreal right now.  I guess that is part of the process.  I told my husband that he and his brother only have to deal with missing her because they both were excellent sons to their mother.

I figured I would post to make things seem a little bit normal for me.  Please pray for us as we have to endure two services - one in NY and another in Alabama... As my pastor always says, if you live long enough, everyone will end up sitting on the first pew in the church to mourn... It looks like it's our time now...

Have a beautiful weekend, and congrats on the weight losses.

Melinda - my deepest condolences to you and your family.

Melinda - I'm so very sorry for the loss of your MIL.  I hope your family will find the peace they need.  Hopefully having your Church family with you will help also.  Remember to take care of yourself also.

Melinda, I'm so sorry for you and your family. We are staring this in the face right now too as my husbands parents are both elderly. I can imagine what you are going through. Your tears will come in time. My thoughts are with you.

I am so sorry about your MIL! You and all your family will be in my prayers.

Well ladies I can say that I have officially fallen off the wagon, and I mean really fell off! I am up 4# of well deserved weight because I ate everything in sight for the last 2 weeks. I have been through 3 birthday parties and 2 baby showers, the third baby shower is at my house on saturday for my little sister. I have eaten cake, pizza, french fries, enchiladas......it was all wonderful. I feel i have almost completely reversed my progress. Not in pounds yet but in will power and clean eating. I am so disgusted and dissappointed in myself! I have gone from 23 pounds lost back to 19....bummer!

I need help. I am not hungry but I am craving everything!

Hi Leslie, gaining 4 lbs is not the end of the world. It may be good for you in the end. I have been going back and forth with my weight for 6 weeks now. I needed to up my calories to get my metabolism kicked back in. Maybe you should think of your last few weeks in the same way. You've upped your calories and now it's time to restrict them again. Drink water, log everything you eat and eat high fiber foods that stick with you. Eat an apple when you want to much or celery etc. You must get back on the wagon. Just like I must break this plateau. It's back on track for both of us. I'm in a no excuses mindset, how about you?

r4eboxer- THank you for the advice! And I do need to be all or nothing. All of this started when I allowed myself a huge cheat day at the fair. Hooray for healthy!

CSW- 234.8  CW- 218.6 = total loss of 16.2 pounds

I am still confident that I can lose 35 pounds by christmas if I step it up!

Is everyone else rockin along this week? Hope we have alot of big losers (L to forehead like r4eboxer said!)

Have a fab weekend!!

Hi everyone - just checking in!

melinda - so sorry to read your sad news, you are in my thoughts, as a-mckh says -  do remember to take care of yourself also at this terribly sad time.

r4eboxer - keep at it, you'll soon be off your plateau!

leslie157 - congratulations!  You dusted yourself off, got right back on that wagon, and started again!  You have had a lovely break, bet the food tasted better than it ever did, but you have other priorities right now - health and wellbeing and maybe a new outfit for the holidays...?  We are rooting for you!

a_mckh - have a great Girl Scout weekend!

I wish you all a happy weekend!
