Chuck the scale or no?

Quote  |  Reply

I hear that having a scale prevents one from gaining weight.....

i dont know if it does to me or not.....
whenever i hop on our broken -7 scale, it encourages me to eat more... and i usually do eat after i hop on the scale, thinking "I WEIGHT TOO LITTLE I NEED TO GAIN"

but will this last? should i chuck it before i start reaching my 100lbs?

no?

A scale is an inanimate mechanical object - it can't prevent you from doing something or encourage you either.   How you react to the number on the display is entirely down to you.   You don't have to be Pavlov's Dog salivating every time the bell rings.... you're a human being and you have free will.  If standing on scales ruins your day or makes you behave irrationally then that would suggest you shouldn't own scales.  If you can stand on them and, whatever the number, life goes on as normal then you're fine

but people here..... lots of them either kept or threw them away and it made a significant difference to them...... bwehe... dunno...

i dont know...  :(

get a new scale

DONT GET A NEW SCALE.

get rid of the bloody thing. if u are not overweight or on a mealplan with a view to reducing weight. then thro it out. concentrate on eating well and proper training.

who needs a scale except bakers and delivery rooms in a maternity hosp

I find the scale helps me, but I just went and got my body fat tested at the gym too.  I think you have to use the two tools together over time.  That's my plan anyways....Everything came in higher than I expected, but I just started working out again after a stressful 7 months on the job working all day and night long and traveling.  So, I'm happier that my clothes fit a little better and I've dropped 3-5 lbs....Still have some work to do.  I know what you mean when you get disheartened by the number - I'm a water/sodium fluctuater of anywhere from -2 to +3 lbs., depending on alcohol, bread, salt and other factors.  I like to look at the green trend line the best.  Just my 2 cents worth.
