Ciabatta bread

Quote  |  Reply

Hi,

I just bought some ciabatta bread from my groceries store and it says on the package that they are 160 cal each (130 grams). I looked for similar items and their calorie content on this site but it varies A LOT depending on the brand. 160 cal seems to be low compared to all of them. Can I really trust what's written on the package?

Hi,

Perhaps yours are lighter than the ones listed on CC?  I've also been caught out before by the nutritional values per 100g instead of per item....

A

You can always log the food manually, that way it doesn't matter what CC says!

I would think you can trust the package, at least you can take some reassurance that it's probably illegal for them to put misleading figures on it. It can be really hard to guess the calories when it's not on the package and I'm so glad most manufacturers state the figures now. I like the Ciabatta rolls from Costco, but can only guess they have, maybe 200 calories? Anyone else who buys them, what would you guess?
