Clean Eating Challenge

Quote  |  Reply
Ok, there seems to be a mysterious condition going around that is causing sabotage to our eating. I know I'm not alone here when I admit that my eating this past little while leaves a lot to be desired, causing slight weight gain after such hard work to lose it.

I also know, that I am the same person who was practically flawless in my eating for like almost 90 days straight, so I know I can get ahold of this - who's with me??

There is no deadline for sign-ups, anyone can join at any time!!

All you have to do is check in once a week (at least) & let us know how you're doing. If/when you "cheat", simply let us know & I will restart your start date.

A cheat is defined as whatever a cheat would mean to you personally, whether it be going over your calories, bingeing, not eating enough, too many treats, etc. We all know when we've cheated, so just be honest with yourself

Let's be honest with each other & keep each other eating clean k? The PRIZE to the winner? Well that's easy - weight loss!!!!!!!!! (or maintenance for those at that stage!) Let's do this!

Dee

********************************************* ***

Here's the list of all signed up & the new rules:
(let me know if I missed you)

If you lose your mind & cheat, just let me know. Then you can re-start from the next day. I'll simply unbold your name, along with updating your new start date.

After being clean for a week after a re-start, I'll re-bold your name. So you always have a chance to feel like you are succeeding.

Also, if you just don't feel like you want to partake in the challenge anymore, can you let me know so I can remove your name from the list? Thanks!!

Anyone not checking in for one week (December 25 - December 31) will be removed from the challenge.

Good luck all! People's names in bold have been going the longest or have not restarted for at least a week - way to go!!!!!!!!

ok still going clean at twelve days. just a little bummed cause havnt been motivated to exercise as of late to many excuses. I havn't seen the scale move. I know I should be happy that it hasn't gone up but Man this stinks. I will be very busy taking tickets and seating people at a major event in our town tonite so maybe I'll burn a few extra calories there. :}
I am still doing good with the eating.
I need to restart, I ate a bunch of crap yesterday because family is in town and I always give in when there's family around.
I'm doing ok eating-wise, but I'm not getting in as much exercise as I'd like because of unidentified-as-of-yet stomach pain.

Also, I'm still staying between 1200 and 1500 calories, but for some reason my weight is skyrocketing!  Honestly, I can't figure out why, I'm taking everything into account.  It's not TTOM, I'm getting enough sleep, I'm eating enough but not too much....

Any ideas?
Been super busy for the past few days so didn't have much trouble staying clean.  Interesting though...boredom is one of my triggers too I guess.  Things slowed down and for the first time in days, thoughts of sneaking snacks snuck into my mind.

amh113--I hear your pain.  When I'm doing good, I almost dread seeing my family because I know how it usually ends up.  Let me know if you ever figure out a way to get out clean :)
Still clean...
I'm gonna restart for tomorrow cuz we stayed the night after our show & I  only packed food for yesterday & it was a 6 hr drive home. I had some fast food, etc. and went way over my 1200 cals for sure.

I'm still going strong though. Yesterday b4 we left, I had taken 7.2 of the 8.2 lbs off so I just have one to go to be back to where I was a week & a half ago. I'ms ure I'll get it off & more this week!

anxious- congrats on being down 5+ lbs since may 24!! woo hoo!

foxy- you did great. No cheat there!

anneh2003 - welcome! I'll add you. Just check in once a week, let me know if you ever need a restart &if you ever do not want to participate, let me know too, k?
Just go by your own rules, they're different for all of us. You know what would be a cheat for you, so if/when you do "that" then jsut let me know. Good luck!

monix- hey girl! Welcome. Yep, just follow your own rules. If you do something that you woudl consider a cheat, jsut let me know & I can restart you. Also, you need to check in at least once a week to stay on the list, k? Good luck!

garocks- welcome! Please check in once a week at least, and let me knw if you ever want to be removed from teh challenge. Good luck!

mabear- you go girl! I'm so proud!!!! Keep it up!

cerhiunnhn - not sure girl, what weight are you at now? cuz if you've already dropped a bunch & are close to goal, you may need to eat more. Give us some more info . . .

18lifetogo- boredom is bad for me too. If I stay busy, I'mperfect, rainy day, not so good. lol!

Dee
I'm still clean. Half of the weekend gone...hope Sunday will be also a good day:)
Apologizes up front for my looong post!

Well, I need a restart for June 10.
Went to a baseball game the other day, and my eating went way out the window!  I ate unhealthy and way too much!  Now I'm paying for my temporary instant gratification by feeling bloated, sluggish, and irritable.  Was it worth it?  Right now I'm thinking NO!  Hopefully I will remember what I feel like right now in the future.

So far I've been able to go for about 2 weeks before throwing all the work out the window.
If you will all bear with me...I think this is a good moment for me to really think about my definition of "clean eating" and to be accountable to myself, as well as to everyone here.

The definition of "clean eating" for me is to eat clean (vegetables,  fruits,  whole grains,  lean meats, fish, beans, low-fat dairy) 90% of the time.  Reality is that I cannot eat clean 100% of the time every single day for the rest of my life... and to be honest, nor do I want to!  (I like to go out and eat a good tiramisu on my birthday.)  :)

However!  If I do eat unclean (...in essence junk food - candy, cakes, doughnuts, cookies, sweet breads, ice cream, chips, French fries, other fried foods, processed foods, sugary foods, foods slathered with butter and salt, etc) it is when it is truly a special occassion (Not, "It's Saturday night; I'm eating chips and ice cream!")... or if I really, truly cannot get out of the situation (Most times, you probably can). If I eat unclean, I will eat small portions only - a taste or a serving of the food, not 3 or 4!

Clean eating also means eating within my calorie allowance; no binging.

I am going to commit to work on eating clean until July 4 - a little bit longer than my 2 week stints so far.  I would like to eventually make clean eating a lifelong habit, but while I'm "training" and to make it less overwhelming, I'm going to make short-term goals.

I'll be honest, and keep you all updated...Just with shorter posts next time!!!

Thanks for "listening" and being patient!  :)

Hah, sorry about the lack of info.

I started at about 135, my highest weight was 141, and I had just gotten down to 127 on June 1st.  My goal is 120 (I'm 5'5", smaaaall frame).  Over the past few days I've watched my weight go up to 129... then 131... then 133... then 135... and now it's leveled out at 133.

My water intake is about 70-80 oz/day,  my protein is around 40-50 g (dr recommendation), I eat tons of fruits and veggies since I'm a vegetarian, and I use virgin olive oil and other healthy oils to get a good amount of fat in my diet.  This all evens out to be about 1200-1500 cal/day (and of course, if I do aerobic exercise, I eat to make up for the calories).

But for some reason I've gained 6 lbs in the last nine days.  That doesn't sound right at all... So I'm confused, but not particularly worried.  But still very confused.
cerhiunnhn - I'm confused too, sounds like you're doing everything right to me. I mean, you're at a pretty low weight now so maybe the 130 range is where your body wants to stay as an idea weight. What is your goal weight? Sorry I can't help.
i'm doing sooo good. i feel really good too!
Hey dee, I need a restart!  Thanks!
yay i finnally got a good streak going. *knock on wood*
Yup, I'm still here and trying to hang on...  good luck this week, everyone!!!
Hello!  I would like to join this challenge too! :D  This is actually the reason I joined the site, haha.  I found that logging my meals was helping me eat healthier, and I liked the logging on this site better than the other one I was using.  But I switched to this site because I wanted to post on this thread...I felt like it would help me define my own rules for healthy eating.  I've been eating well for a couple weeks now (with some slip-ups) and it totally feels like I'm detoxing or something.  I need something to keep my focus on my goals.

SO...with that said, these are the "rules" I'm going to go by:

- Eat no more than 2000 cals/day when I'm sitting around doing nothing, max 2200 on days that I'm more active or exercising, and never less than 1700
- Must eat at least 2 meals per day, preferrably 3
- "Eating out" will be limited to sit-down meals (no fast food) for special occassions/people only, and not more than once per week.  Meals must remain in the calorie limit for the day.
- Any alcohol consumed must be within my calorie limit, no more than 3 drinks per week (this will be lower later)
- Absolutely NO "junk food" (I'm talking the really junky pre-packaged and processed stuff...not tortilla chips, a bit of ice cream, or the occassional cookie...)
- Rules can be slightly bent to be feasible while travelling, but will still go off of what "feels right/wrong" and will try to be as healthy as possible
- The weekend I go to Vegas does not exist - "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" haha.

And as I'm finishing this up, my roommate just placed a bowl of flan in front of me!  Noooo!!  haha.

Alright, time to eat healthy! ;)  Good luck everyone!

This sounds great.  I love competition, even if everyone wins, I can keep motivated.  Count me in.
welcome to the new girls/boys:) This morning I feel great. I haven't eaten anything wrong during the whole weekend:) I'm so happy! This was my first weekend without slip-ups for the last 3 months.
Hi Dee!  Please add me!  I saw your before and after photos: now I feel motivated.  I want to eat healthy.  I have just a few more pounds to lose, but if I can stay at this weight and gain muscle mass, even better.  It's Monday and I will check back in on Monday.  Thanks for doing this! Nancy
Dee, I just saw your profile. I'm so very proud of you!  I'm about 10 lbs heavier then when you started so it is a great motivation to stay on track when I see what improvements you've made.

Any secrets?  Anything that helped a lot?

I need to be restarted after this weekend.  I seem to do especially well throughout the week and then it gets to the weekend and it's like I never was on a diet to begin with.

Any tips on getting over the weeekend part?

Anne
