I'm in the last leg of my weight-loss journey, and I've fallen back into some binge-eating tendencies. I'm looking for some of you out there to join me in a "clean eating" challenge! The idea is to define your own version of eating clean, whether it be avoiding certain foods, balancing your meals, or whatever helps you lose... then, we'll post on this forum about our motivators, struggles, and even successes and failures on a day-to-day basis. Please join me and we can become stronger together!
this sounds great. i've recently fallen back into my own binge-eating (and sometimes purging) tendencies. i used to do this a lot more, but for the last year or so i really had it in check (occasional binging, but no purging for the past year). and for the last few months, i had really been "eating clean" as you call it.
for me, "clean eating" ultimately means eating mostly fruits and veggies, some protein, a lot of fiber and a lot of water. it means eating at least 3 small meals, and small, healthy snacks throughout the day when i feel hungry. it means no simple carbs or white sugars, and only healthy fats in moderation. basically, the definition of healthy eating. but i know that i need to start with one thing at a time, and right now (especially with the horrible habits i've been returning to for the past week), that means only eating when i'm hungry, and eating "real food" with nutrition and vegetables.
ah this is just what i need. im on my way home thinking about how i would really love a bottle of wine. before i went away on holidays/vacation i banned wine (well mostly) from the house. i didn't ban wine completely but just that i had to actually go out & have it if i really wanted to. i did really well with it but it was also very hard. now its just getting back to where i was.
im also trying to go back to getting some protein (& some fat) at every meal & snack like i was before. it really helped to control my appetite.
anyway off to the gym after work, after having 5 weeks off.
I'm so glad you both are interested in this kind of group!
Franny- I think we have quite a bit in common. I've really struggled lately to stop the purging aspect of my binges, but it's still immensely challenging to avoid the binges altogether. This weekend, I had two days of TERRIBLE binges and literally felt insane and out of control by the end of it. The weekdays are usually a lot easier for me and I'm definitely doing better, but still every time I think about the foods I crave it's a total struggle not to give in.
I hope that posting on this site will let some of the stress out and replace my need to binge with a need to post!! (yeah right...)
octo-luv- Good for you getting back to the gym!! I'm all about working out... It's really the one thing I have control over lately, even if my eating tends to spiral downwards. I really advocate getting into a workout routine because it helps you to remember WHY it's important to eat healthy in the first place- because your body needs good food to function well! Now, if only I could remember that when there's a huge pile of cookies in front of me.... *sigh*
I have been clean eating for coming up on seven years now - with no cheat days AT ALL (immense will power, it's nuts)...
- Basically (if you look at my profile) I follow the ABCDEF diet which means I do not eat/drink alcohol, bread, starchy carbs, dairy, extra sugar & extra bad fats & fruit!
*I beat all cravings for anything with protein! I eat a lot of protein every day which totally curbs my hunger!
