How can I cleanse the colon naturally with food?
Asked by anonymous on Oct 12, 2009 in Nutrition

Can you please inform me about the natural foods like fruits, vegetables, and oils, which work as colon cleansers?  I don't trust the products introduced to public.

Answer

The body is designed to rid itself of toxins.  Eat a high fiber diet and drink lots of water to cleanse the colon naturally.  The highest fiber foods are bran cereals, whole grains, dried beans and lentils, leafy textured greens, berries, dried fruit, and all fruits and vegetables in general.  You can count your fiber intake in grams; start with the amount you eat now, and gradually increase to 35 grams of fiber a day.  If you develop gas, try BEANO natural food enzyme.  Adjust your fiber intake over time to your personal responsiveness.  There is no need to "detox" on a clear liquid diet, which could be dangerous if followed for more than one day.  Read about detox diets at the Calorie Count Blogs.
