Can you clear things up for me??

Quote  |  Reply

I have been on CC for a few months now but I think I might still be unclear on how many calories I should eat. Here's my stats

I'm 29 years old

5'4"

135lbs

GW is 125lbs

I work out 5 days a week. I do cardio 3x for 45min-1hr (usually stationary bike and power walk 4.5mph pace) and 45 min of weights 2x with a 20 minute cardio warmup. depending on the week I might also do yoga a couple times.

I currently have my activity level set as sedentary and log my work outs because I work in an office so no activity. I go home cook supper and then usually just watch TV until it is time to work out.

My question... I don't really quite know how many calories I should be eating to lose this 10 lbs. I would like to lose it at a comfortable pace of about 1 lb a week. I currently eat around 1500 calories a day but I think that might be on the low side. Thoughts please??

How are you doing so far with your weight loss?  Any success?  I'd actually up it up to around 1750 - 1800 based on your size/activity level.  Unless you're doing quite a bit more than what is stated, you should be able to lose around a pound per week at that intake.

I'm actually not doing great right now. I kind of hover around 135, sometimes down to 134 and sometimes up to 137 which is why I thought I would ask because with all the physical activity I do I should lose some. But I also suffer from hypothyroidism, depression and have an IUD all of which can contribute to weight gain. I guess I will try upping my calories and see how it goes. Thanks for the input.

Upping your calories by 250 - 300 a day is still under your maintenance, so there should be no risk of gaining weight, but I don't know about the other stuff.  I gained a bit of weight when I went on BC last year again, and always gain weight if I'm taking any kind of depression medication, so they may be effecting you.  Though I don't know much about the IUD's and how they effect your hormones.  I'm sorry!!
