It's getting close to April...
I'm still nowhere near my goal! Any tips on how to behave on the weekends? I could use all the advice I could get, 'cause I must be 115 by April! Thanks so much, guys.
Age: 15
Height: 5' 6"
Weight: 124
Go running/walking in intervals.
Eat more protein and less carbs. (I go for things like hard-boiled or scrambled eggs, lean meats, different cheeses, and almonds.) Still try to watch your calories and don't go overboard.
Be careful of watching your scale and not paying enough attention to your body measurements. My scale has hardly budged in 2 weeks but my clothes are much looser all of a sudden.
Muscle weighs more than fat, and burns more calories even while resting. Do squats and lunges.
For toning I highly recommend a stability ball that comes with a workout video.
Hang in there! Even if you don't make it to your goal by then, you're still that much fitter! Tell yourself that you can do it, and you WILL do it.
I used to not exercise on the weekends, but now I try to get a little more active. It helps ME to remember that it's not worth stuffing myself with junk. It takes only a few moments of mouth happiness to make a lot of calories that I have to burn off later. :( The temptations get easier if you try to keep a positive outlook. Also, so I don't cave and have a huge snack attack, I allot myself so many calories of a "bad" food. It works easier if I plan it ahead of time and I've developed a stronger will to only eat, say 1 chocolate or 1/4 of an oatmeal cream pie.
Don't let other people around you mess up your eating goals. I work with people that try to sabotage mine by offering chocolates and all sorts of bad stuff.
Really it's all in how much you want this and believe in yourself.
Try low fat chocolate milk. It is a yummy, easy "meal" and it has lots of vitamins and protein which helps you feel full. Plus the chocolate taste helps you feel like you're not depriving yourself. It is great after a workout or in the morning (especially if you are not a breakfast fan).
I think its been my biggest allie so far. I've dropped 14pounds in three months and am looking to get rid of those stubborn last 4 or 5.
Since there is not a lot of time left, you might want to focus on getting rid of any excess water weight you are carrying around. Make sure to drink at least 8glasses of water a day (try filling up 2 nalgenes in the morning with the goal of finishing them off by the end of the day). Avoid salty foods and try squeezing some lemon or lime into a few of the glasses of water. I've heard it helps shed excess water weight, and even if that isn't true its a low calorie way to make the water interesting and get some extra vitamin C.
