alright..

so I started my diet and exercise over 2 weeks ago.

I started out at 200-205 lbs

Eating: whatever, whenever..literally!  Fast food, chips (even two bags in one night!), fruit punches, just plain bad stuff!

Exercise:? ha! never.  I wouldn't even leave my house!

Now..

Diet:

I am not SUPER strict with my diet..but needless to say..I am doing MUCH better.  I dont drink pop (never really did) and completely cut out fast food (which I lived on!), i cut out sweets and chips a lot! not all the way, but a lot.  I have my piece of chocolate when the time calls for it.  I am drinking loads more water, I switched to soy milks I am eating more "meals", more vegies and fruits, just...a lot better.  I still don't sit down and eat 3 meals a day, though.    STILL not perfect, but I think I have come a long way from what I was eating.

Exercise:

A lot more than..well..EVER!  I have been exercising every single day.  I took 2 days off to go to the drive in (yes I went two nights in a row..bad I know haha) but I ate even healthier that day because I didn't exercise, But besides that EVERY day.  anywhere from ATLEAT 30 minutes and at most 2 hours.  I usually hit over the 1 hour mark most days.  My routine(with my boyfriend) starts at 10:30 pm with a ten minute walk to the park, some stretching, then kicking a soccer ball back and forth and leisurly running to catch it and that for about...45 minutes?  There is a track along the outside of the park that we walk anywhere from 2-5 times (it's a good long track), then sometimes after that we kick the ball some more, then walk the track again(sometimes!), then the 10 minute walk home. we'll usually get home around midnight.

I haven't seen any results! maybe a pound..but shouldn't I see more!?

I am 17

5'5

200lbs

Medium frame

allowance of 1650 calories a day.

help?!

You seem to be on track for a slow loss.  Remember, to do this right and keep it off, your loss must be slow and steady ... about a pound a week.  You need to think of this as more of a lifestyle change than a diet.

I would suggest logging everything you eat and seeing where you come out.  Its amazing how fast it can sneak up on you.  And measure your portions.  Portion control has a lot to do with it.

Most importantly though, hang in there.  Give it some time.  You can do this.
There's an expression, which is true, and you need to hear:

Winners never quit.
And Quitters never win.

What will quitting get you? Will it make you healthier? happier? thinner?

I can understand the frustration. Most of us can, but the only way to get there is to sit down and start doing it.

By the sounds of it, you know where to start. You know you've eaten badly. So.. why not QUIT eating junk instead of quit altogether?
Wow you pretty much described me too. I've been at this healthy thing for 3 weeks already and I lost a pound, but gained 1.8. I don't UNDERSTAND why. It really frustrates me because I've been doing everything right and I haven't even lost any inches.
It's not just the number of calories... It's the types of food that you are eating as well.

I can stick to 1250 calories everyday and eat completely unhealthy and not lose a pound.  I'll even gain a pound or two.

But when I stick to mostly healthy foods and stick to 1250 calories... The pounds drop off sooo much easier.

Allow yourself 1 treat a day that is around 150 calories or so and eat healthy the rest of the day.

Also, have you taken your measurements to see if you are losing inches?

Results aren't instant... It can take a month before you see significant results.

GOOD LUCK!
It sounds like you are on the right track just keep at it, believe it or not if you cut out the junk after a week or so you won't crave it near as much, I was the biggest junk food junky and since I have cut almost all refined sugars and starches from my diet the only time I crave them is during that time of the month (dang it!!).  As loriransier said you really need to log everything you eat.  You would be surprised. I log everything.  I have been losing my weight very slowly (18 pounds since Mar. 8th) it can be very frustrating at times but just hang in there, you CAN do it!!!!  :-)

my gym has been closed off for 15 days and i know my weight would bounce back since i can't keep the regular working out routine...but i'm trying my best to at least do something when i'm at home, i do rope jumpings, i jog with mom, i may also do some weight liftings, though as not much intensive as in gym, but i'm keeping it as a habit, a part of your life.

even you are NOT losing a pound of weight, you know it's CERTAINLY the right thing to do, to keep a healthy way of living, and you know what, one great outlook on this shall be, which i learned on CC:

Keep sticking to it, as long as you are not gainning weight, you have made your way!

I am sure we can all make it, eventually...DO NOT GIVE UP!
Yes, I took my measurements.

Nothing changed.

no change,but don't give up, i know you won't

i'm mad too, i hate it, really. i am mad about myself and i even asked my mom why i look exactly like her, a pear but oh well...what else can i do?

stick to it, i'm giving my last piece of patience.
I have been told there actually is such a thing as over-exercising...perhaps this is part of it.  Also, be sure to lift weights, light ones, 2-3 times per week for 20-30 minutes on nonconsecutive days.  Muscle urns more calories than fat, so adding some will help.  I have been on a plateau for some time, but I can't and won't give up.  Hang in there, change what you are doing for exercise so your body doesn't get used to the same thing over and over and choose things you enjoy.  I am a gym rat, so I love to jump on an elliptical machine or a recumbent bike, but if I can't get to the gym, I take a brisk morning walk around the neighborhood for a half hour or so.  Also, I think exercising in the morning makes a difference too.  It boosts your metabolism and gets you moving for the day.

Check all of the foods you eat for high fructose corn syrup, which causes people to feel hungry, and try to avoid eating it.  Also try to avoid foods with partially hydrogenated oils (trans fats) and aspartame.  These are very bad for your body.  Aspartame has actually been linked to causing weight gain.
Please Dont give up.

I was overweight at age 17 and I kept giving up over and over . Did all the diets from slim fast-the grapfruit and they only lasted about three weeks.

Im now 31 . Thats 14 years of my life being overweight, and when I look back and think that If I just stuck with something I probably could be thin right now. If you keep giving up its not going to go away. It took me a long time to get where I am today, and its going to take some time to get where I want to be.

This is what your frame of mind needs to be. Even if you only lose 2 lbs a month - Hey thats 2 Lbs right? Thats 2 lbs less than you were before you started.

Just be patient with it. All of us are here for basically the same reasons. Were all here to help and support one another. Some have a lil to lose and some have a lot. But Please dont give up  because I know you can do it.
HI,  I can help you with some thoughts to ponder.

Your young so you have time to figure this out.  If you stop now you'll only become a diet statistic.  You are not the only one who seems to lose slower.

I would like to suggest a new mind set.

think about FEELING good and being healthy.  There is nothing worse than feeling bad.  When your young that doesn't cross your mind.
But 20 years from now things can pop up.  The sooner you learn to take care of yourself the better off you'll be.  No one can escape getting older.

I personally just broke a 45 day plateau.  I'm eating like a zoo animal. And exercising.  I feel so much better. I can see I look better despite my 216# number on the scale.  It's a lot better than 224# I can tell yiou that.  worlds different.

The old me could loose 50 pounds in 5mths only to regain it back
because I was on a "diet" not a way of life.   Diets don't work
take it from me.  I bet I've been on more diets than anyone on the planet.  check out my profile I have recent pictures of the past few years of my yo-yo dieting.

I hear people going on binges.  I don't have that.  I think it's because I eat so healthy I don't want bad things.  yet the good
things I'm eating are very tasty.  Feel free to ask me about
my tasty healthy diet.  I live at the health food store and also
health food section of my local Kroger.  But you still have to be
wise in reading labels because they throw in bad stuff even
in the health isles.

I don't even want to go off what I'm doing.  I'm eating and it's tasting good.  I feel good and I'm exercising.  Why would i want to stop and start eating bad food only to feel bad and look bad.
Good foods retard the aging process.  I'm turning 40 this year
and I got carded this week :)))

I've always had a good diet but I also over ate and I also did deserts.  I cut back on my calories and I gave up deserts.  I don't miss them at all.  It was just a new bad habit from my new job.
My new job requires me to offer a nightly desert and so I would
partake of it.  No more.  I don't eat it.  If I want ice-cream I measure it out and count the calories.

You neeed to eat good.  You need to think about your health.
You need to not think of this as a diet but a way of life or else
you'll never get to goal.  I know first hand!

Hope this helps.  remember if your craving bad things your probably not eating right.
DON'T GIVE IN AND DON'T GIVE UP! When I was your age, I was battling a abusive relationship that caused me to tip the sscales at 235lbs, and im 5'2. I managed to get down to my lowest weight ever which was 169lb and I gained it all back in 2005. I was so tired of being out of shape, I had to do something. I made the choice to join LA weightlos, and not only did it cost a lot of money, but It helped me to make better choices. Since November, I have dropped 42 lbs and I am struggling now with loosing more. I work at Friday's and I have food in my face all day long. Right now I am at 177lbs and I am still having body issues. But I won't give up untill I reach my goal of 150lbs. Once I reach that goal, I know that I can loose more. I am starting small to remain realistic. Just keep in mind, that you are not alone, love. I thank God for the new job that I will start tomorrow. This will give me the oppurtunity to pack my lunches and stay on track. I will have to wake up at 5 am to go to the gym, but I look foward to it (not). But I am devoted to being a healthier woman. I deserve it, my body deserves it, your do too! Do it now while your young, because it gets harder as we age. Keep your head up,lady!
Meggy:

Wow. This sounds exactly like my situation. I ate fast food everyday (sometimes twice a day) plus ice cream, cake, cookies, doughnuts, pop, candy, burgers, fries...well pretty much anything, anywhere and always bad for me. Not to mention NEVER exercising. I havent eaten fast food for 3 weeks and I have exercised more and I am eating fruits and healthy foods...and only 2lbs lost. I think I need to log my food so I know exactly what i'm eating but I HATE counting cals. Erg. I'm actully getting in shape for the National Guard to meet weight requirements. I have 6 months to drop 40lbs. I think I can do that. I hope. Stick with it. I lost a ton of weight really fast last summer. And I gained it all back plus 10 lbs. Make it a lifestyle change and be patient.

Add me as a friend and we can motivate each other!

Spend a few minutes listing all the other (non-weight) positive benefits you've gained from all that healthy living.  Do you feel more energized?  Are you sleeping better?  Is your workout any easier than it was two weeks ago?  You may not be any skinnier than you were a couple of weeks ago, but you are stronger, healthier, faster, and a fitter.  You may think that it won't make a difference if you revert to your old ways, but do you really want to be sicker, slower and weaker?

Keep it up, and give yourself some more time to lose weight.  If the needle doesn't move, then consider upping the workout intensity and altering the food a bit.  But just make sure that you concentrate on all the other great results you're getting that aren't related to the scale.
Don't give up!

The pounds are numbers on the scale.  If you're truly gaining muscle, then you will have a higher number on the scale.  Also, weigh yourself at the same time...I recommend in the morning after you've used the bathroom and before you've eaten anything.  You can get a digital scale that also does BMI and skeletal muscle to give you different comparisons and some of them track your progress over a period of time so you can actually see that the minuscle results do add up.

If you're feeling better, keep doing it.  Track your calories on everything you put in your mouth and you'll find that somethings are not always worth the calories...other things are.  Get a microwave popcorn popper for popping and you can cut out any oil.

Good luck! Hang in there.
be patient it take time for your body to believe your going to be nice to it now and it hangs on the weight for awhile give it some more time it will happen.
Don't give up...

From Nov. 06 until Jan 07  NO WEIGHTLOSS !

I ate very sparingly during the holidays...NOT A LB. gained or lost worth mentioning +/- (2)tops

Dr.appointment in November said by March appointment, LOOSE 10 lbs or be issued meds for diabetes which would likely be lifelong :((((...

Found this site Jan 1 07 and did not lose 10lbs...LOST 17 the doctor thrilled...so was I (hubby, too) the nurses were even congratulating me ! They thought that was since November!

It will happen it just takes time and  if you slip, start with a clean slate and be extra attentive...try not to go over the extra 100 calories aday too often and you should do fine.

Think of spending cash...if you charge or check, etc.,you will loose track and perhaps get reckless with your "caloric budget". Take your "budget" and subtract it regularly and a little  +/- eitherway wont break you but this will keep you on track.

Also write out your menu option the night before, leave a little wiggle room for special occasions and you WILL SUCCEED!

GOOD LUCK
