Quote  |  Reply

Over the course of 9 months I have lost close to 40 pounds. I am now down to 143 and wanting to get to 130 by july. All the rest of my weight is packed around my lower stomach, thighs, and around but. What can I do????

Well done losing so much weight.  You're actually at a healthy weight right now.  130lbs would be verging on underweight for someone 5'8".

How about trying to maintain your current weight and instead tone up with exercise?

I dont know if its that i need to lose weight or tone up to get the problem areas worked out.

I agree with everyone so far. The solution is not loosing weight but toning up. Have you tried lifting weights? If not, start a routine up and keep doing cardio. You're body will become more lean and muscular. Congrats on loosing 40 pounds!
Another thought... weight that sits around the abdomen and thighs can often be 'water weight' or fluid retention.   Sometimes changing your diet to reduce the sugar, starch and salt content and being better hydrated  can make a bigger impact on reshaping you than by reducing your calorie intake.

I drink like a bottle and a half of water a day...and like a cup of soy milk......If I drink a lot of water I feel like I am just putting on more weight...\\

Also I have been on a low sugar diet...which is how i droped 5 pounds

I'm your height and I was around your weight a couple  of months ago.  In the past couple of weeks I've been doing turbo jam and following it's suggested diet with some adjustments, and I'm already down to 132.

So basically, some cardio and some toning and some ab stuff.  I try to do at least 20 minutes on most days.  I'm shocked by how effective it is.  Especially the healthy diet.  I'm also about to try hiphop abs for the whole belly region.

I agree with gi-jane about the toning, but have to say at 5'8 and 132lb, I'm still plenty fleshy, not underweight at all.  It's still within the healthy range.

thanks.....I know I have muscle underneath those pockets of fat....It just makes me looked so disproportioned on me because I am so skinny up top.

I'd say put a lot of focus on the problem area now, but stick with some sort of healthy diet.  It's amazing how much food even 1600 calories is if it's not junk.
