My closet is empty!

Quote  |  Reply

It's been 1 year since I started my weight loss journey.  I decided it was finally time to let go of my "fat" clothes.  I've lost 83 lbs (SW 288 lbs, CW 205) and I couldn't really wear a lot of them anyways.  I filled 2 garbage bags full to take to goodwill and it felt so good!! I didn't even hold any back "just in case".  My closet is so empty with only a few transitional things left.  I can't wait to go shopping for summer clothes!

That is awesome! Go out and buy yourself some brand new clothes!

I just did that same big closet clean-out as part of my under 200 pounds celebration (whoo hoo!).  It was totally ridiculous to keep all of those big clothes around, but some things were kind of hard for me to let go of.  It's hard right now, because I had a pretty nice wardrobe when I was a size 26 or 28, but now I'm a 16 and all of my clothes are kind of crappy.  I just can't invest in anything nice when my size changes every two months.  I do most of my shopping at goodwill, but even there I'm reluctant to splurge on anything I might get attached to.  I don't want to be sad when I go down a size.  That's supposed to be a happy event!  I am planning on buying myself something really nice when I hit the 100 pounds lost milestone (19 pounds to go).  Even if I can only wear it for a little while, I want something that really shows how proud I am of what I've accomplished.

Congratulations on all of your progress and on cleaning out your closet!

First off- congrats on such monumental weightloss!!! I don't have anything that fits either- I borrow clothes, haha.

However, having started by weight loss journey 3 years ago, I will say that don't buy an entire wardrobe of new clothes. I bought a lot of new clothes when I lost 30, but then I lost 50- then 80! The point is, I wasted a lot of money on new clothes. Hit up a value village! If you maintain for a good stretch of time without losing or upping- go get yo'self some snazzy new digs!

Seriously though, congratulations. Enjoy showing off your healthy new "bod" this summer! ....let the sunshine in, leeet the sunshine in, the suuuunshine in....

Huge congrats. It feels great to let it go.

I just did a closet cleaning not too long ago, but I did keep one outfit. It was what I wore on my birthday at my highest weight of 289.5 lbs (I wore it because I thought it made me look really thin!). I don't ever plan to go back there, but it's nice to try on every once in a while. I get so bogged down in the minutia of a pound or two up or down, that I sometimes forget the big picture until I go back to where I started, you know? So I put it one and walk around in it for a little while doing the infomercial pull-the-waistband-out-really-far move in front of the mirror.

Straight up GRATS!!!! That is sooo cool, I can't wait to get there myself! You are an inspiration.

Heck yea! What a great feeling, huh?

I'm kind of in the same boat....although I'm waiting until I move (in a few months) to clear out the 'fat' clothes...if I did, I'd have an empty closet too! WOrse things in life, I tell ya!

LOL anyway, congrats on a great loss!

Congratulations on your weight loss. Cleaning out my closet was a joy after my weight loss, even tho' the cost of new clothes was high, it was my reward for achieving my goal.

I did keep one pair of trousers however ...my "worst weight trousers", 46 inch waist..I still get a kick from seeing how my <30 inch waist these days compares when I step into those trousers..I use them as a reminder of "the bad old days" and a warning not to go back there .
