Ok... I have spent WAY to much money on pants and blouses this past year. I have to dress business casual for work, and since this weight loss has started, I'm constantly changing sizes.

So I WISH someone was out there willing to send me size 6 and 8 dress pants, capris, and jeans... but there's not. So, I've decided to make this good gesture.

I have black, brown, grey dress pants in size 10/12 (one pair of browns is a 14). These are all LIKE BRAND NEW and in PERFECT SHAPE. Inseam is 32-33 inches. I have some size 32-33 jeans all in great shape too. I'd love to GIVE these to someone who has maybe gotten down and finding it hard to find the money to buy new pants. Or even someone who has gained and needs pants that fit... I've been there. I have gone from a size 16-18 to a size 6-8 in a matter of a year, so trust me these clothes are NOT worn in at all.

I'm in Winnipeg, Canada. If you want my pants (and I'll even throw in my blouses) You can have em. If you're not close enough for me to drop them off, maybe pay for the shipping? That would be fair I think.

Why is there no clothing exchange on CC? And if there is, where is it? LOL

BTW, I am a female, 34 years old, with pretty good taste. I think anyways :) Let me know folks, what do ya think?

We have tried this many times in the past and it just doesn't seem to work.

Try freecycling them.  Members will come to your house and pick up your clothing or other things that you no longer need.  Google freecycle(your city) and you just need to sign up for a free membership.
I have freecycled all of my big clothes and have received some nice clothes as well.

That's sad

I've also freecycled mine although there are some very nice suits that I'm going to donate to Transition House or a similar place.

I wish someone in the UK would give me/swap clothes! i have hundreds of clothes too small and at the moment ive got two pairs of trousers i can wear but i have to have a belt to stop them falling off lol.

I got every single piece of furniture in my house off of freecycle, and now that I am moving, I plan on getting rid of them via freecycle.  It's a great resource.

This is kinda funny.

So yeah free cycle sounds like a good idea.

But seriously, no one can use my perfectly good pants for FREE? Wow.

Do you have any idea what the postage would be or even Greyhound (they are usually more reasonable for parcels and they can be sent collect)?

Because I might be interested - I'm in Thunder Bay.  :)

The last time I sent a box, through Canada Postfrom Ontario to Manitoba, it cost me $18.00.

Yup I'd say $20 max. (If it's a bit more, I can eat it) I am a small business customer with Canada post, so that would be expedited as well. (2-3 days)

Close to the same price for GreyHound, but I can't find anything about collect shipping.

Clothes will be folded though so you'll have to do some ironing. Innocent

Send me a message if you like with your email address and we can get in touch that way privately.

 Sent.  :)

Great idea Igloogal!  I had a similar problem.  I started in size 18 and am down to 6/8.  About half way through my weight loss I wanted to get rid of the clothes in the closet that were too big.  The problem, most of them were very expensive suits.  I wanted to give them to someone who truly needed them.

Well I live in Los Angeles and there is a non-profit charity called "Clothes the Deal".  They accept donations of business attire and distribute it to needy people who are looking for jobs.  They assist in the coordination of the "first interview" outfits and subsequent clothes needed to work in a business environment.

I actually scheduled a clothing drive for my entire work and we ended up giving about four large clothing racks full of great stuff.  It was nice to see those expensive suits going to someone who really needed them.  I suggest you look into similar chairites in your location.

Good luck!

If I can't get rid of them on this forum, I will certainly give it a go.

I love to support charity... I just know when you are a working class family these days, you need help too. . . I have spent thousands of dollars on new clothes for my job and for play this past year, and I just want to help someone avoid doing the same thing along their own weight loss journey.

With that being said... look me up when you're looking to be rid of those 6/8's because that's what I am now! LOL Laughing

Lol. That would be a fantastic way to recycle clothing on this site. A lot of people aren't willing to pay for the shipping. The shipping for things can be so pricey it's amazes me. There should be a local exchange for each area. That would be pretty fantastic for members. =-P  It would also help in the maternity section for women.  Local Exchanges wouldn't be pricey at all. A section sorta like a recycle clothing bin may help people out. Since it does away with the potential shipping fee.

( Of course. There is still the trust factor in that regard. There are so many online dangers/predators. I'm not trying to make you paranoid just cautious in exchanges. It's a scary thought but seriously. Be careful.)

btw, Kudos! It's great to see people helping each other! It's awesome that you're recycling clothing like that. :)

Have you found any takers? depending on shipping, I may take them. I'm in victoria, BC

Hi everyone! Thanks for the interest.

Just letting you know that I was able to send the clothes to glinda, so I'm glad someone will get use of them.

We could really use more people doing this! LOL I'm still waiting for someone to offer me their size eights!!!

Have a good weekend all!

There must be a way to start this sure would be a good thing

Hm. Maybe you should change/edit the title of this thread to something like:

" Clothing Exchange" or " Clothing Exchange: Too big? Too Small? Want um? " Lol

Then: People can post the sizes/ what clothing they have up for grabs...and/or the sizes they're looking for, ect. We can try to keep this thread active. For the general sake of Recycling clothing and Helping people. :) They can also put their general location so potential pickup/shipping fees can be guess-timated.

It would hit two targets with one stone.

"Why is there no clothing exchange on CC? And if there is, where is it? LOL"

Answer: It's right here! Lets try to make this thread an active one!

That's great idea! Let's get it going people!

After loosing 20 lbs 5 yrs ago, I gave all my clothes to the local women's shelter.  They can certainly use them and it made me feel good to help.  I have also sold lots of stuff on Ebay...didn't make much money, tho' after their listing charges.     Is there a local church (or yours) that has a rummage sale?   How about a clothes swap with co-workers?

There are many charities I can give my clothes to. Like I said before,  I think it's is also helpful to give things to the working class people in the midst of a recession, who are needing new clothes regularly because of losing weight. Clothes are expensive. Why can't us CCers help each other out, right?
