clothes frustrations

Quote  |  Reply

This probably isn't anything new, but I can't find any pants/jeans.  I am 5'10'' and about 155-160 pounds.  I've been a size 7/8 or 9/10 for the last 7 years, but I recently bought size 11 (long) jeans, and they don't even come close to fitting.  I can barely pull them over my hips.  I like to think that I have an hourglass figure (38 1/2 chest, 28-29 in waist, and 40 in hips), and I have not too much fat on my body.  I'm vegan, and I exercise regularly (i have about 4 hrs of dance classes per week and go to the gym for 30 minutes of cardio once a week).  I am at a healthy weight, natural weight for me.  It's just really discouraging that nothing I try on fits or looks right on me.  The shirts I try on roll up, and I can't pull the jeans over my hips.  The pants that do make it over my hips are too big for my waist.  I just get so frustrated, and I want to go back to my bad eating/ over exercising habits.  Three years ago I found clothes with little to no effort, but I ate 1000 or less calories a day and I ran 2+ miles a day.  My body is still recovering from the stress I put on it trying to be a size 4 (a goal I reached unhealthily).  When I look back at the pictures from that time/ size, I realize how ridiculous I look, not at all attractive in my opinion, all bones, but everything I tried on fit perfectly.  I'm finally at a place where I love my body (sure I'd like to lose that pesky 5-10 lbs) and I want my clothes to reflect my newfound confidence.  Is that too much to ask?

Hey there,

I know what you mean with clothes frustrations.. I have had trouble in the past with jeans, sort of the opposite, though.. Bc my waist is 28-29 and my hips are about 37.5, so I end up having a baggy butt when they fit my waist, or a muffin top when they fit my butt/hips!

However, there is a denim company that has styles specifically for women who aren't stick figures.  It's called Paige Premium Denim - started by a former jeans model who noticed jeans weren't hugging women's curves properly. I think she even has a cut specifically for those of us with more "assets" :) :) that don't gap in the waist.  Hold on let me get the site... http://www.paigepremiumdenim.com/

She actually has an interactive fit guide that will help you choose the best cut for your shape. I know they carry them at Saks and maybe Neimans?  I don't know what your budget is, but it really is worth it to have one quality pair of jeans you feel like a GODDESS in!   Hope this helps :)

i hear your frustration. I am curvy also, and have trouble finding clothes. shirts always ride up unless they are a big, baggy size. i did find a brand of jeans that fits my body well, and over time I bought almost every style & colour they offered! keep trying different brands until you find one that fits u well. good luck.
