Clothes! Ugh. Wasting money.

Something I didn't think about before this weight loss thing - all the money spent in clothes. I HAD to get rid of my jeans that were size 32 because they weren't even staying on anymore. And now my size 30s are starting to get loose. I told myself no more clothes until I'm a 28 because I'm just goin gto keep spending money on clothes that aren't gonna fit me in a month. But I like to look nice so I hate to have these baggy jeans falling down my ass. :P

What have you guys done about new wardrobes in this losing weight deal?

Shirts I can deal with. Eventually I'm going to want to get new ones but at least they don't fall off of you!

I'm wearing belts and just dealing with it until I can reach my goal (5 more pounds) and buy some new pants. On the bright side, I still have a pair of slimmer jeans and lots of shorts that had been too small for a while that I can now wear and should last me through the summer.

I know how you feel. I hate how I keep pulling up my pants, but as a poor college student, I can't justify buying new ones yet. I've been able to take in some skirts a bit so I can still wear them, but doing that with pants is too tricky for me.

I joyfully and cheerfully keep buying NEW CLOTHES, Freecycling the too big stuff!!!

I've bought jeans on ebay and at the thrift store...I figure if they can be washed with bleach that I don't mind that they've been worn.

I'd rather buy clothes that fit me well than wear things that are too big because then I feel good about the weight loss, but bad because the baggy clothes just don't look good.

I try to skip a size before I buy new clothes - So when I started I was a 22, almost a 24.  I didn't buy new clothes until I got to 18.  Then 14, etc.  But I did a little of both - new clothes to celebrate and/or needed them for work and picked up  "interim pants" at the thrift stores.

Congratulations!
I'll tell you, Goodwill and Salvation Army actually do have beautiful and stylish clothes, and those are all I'm buying until I get to the weight I want (which is a ways to go).

Take it into consideration.  I'll tell you that my favorite jeans (just bought last week, so will have them for awhile) are l.e.i. and look FABULOUS on my ass.

Thought I should piont that out.

I still have skinny clothes from Back When.  I have a thing about not buying bigger than 18.  So, I was bursting out of my XLs and 18 so the weight loss now is making my biggest clothes more comfortable.  I have a long way to go to change sizes.

i have been going for cheaper bramds such as hennes+mauritz and camaieu

WHOO HOO - way to go.

I would suggest that you look for a few resale shops in your area. Here in Chicago we have them from the full range of salvation army - anything for $1; up to designer resale shops where you can get amazing deal.

You can probably go to a tailor if you have some stuff that you REALLY want to keep and have them taken in.

One thing I'm doing is I'm actually going to try and make some clothes- I sew costumes often, and I figured, hey, why not make my own skirts and tops?  hopefully it will turn out well.

After I had my son I went to goodwill and bought a bunch of clothes until I lose all the baby weight.. My goodwill sells new stuff (from target I think) that is either sized wrong or has a mistake in it and used clothing as well.  The last weekend of the month everything is half off too!!!

I get most of my clothes from Ross.  I buy jeans for 10 bucks and think that it's not too much for jeans and I won't spend more then that.  I also buy off of clerance racks.  Shirts are always nice off of the clearance rack and you can usually find them under $5.  Good luck with the rest of your weight loss.

Aren't baggy pants popular now?  LOL

I agree with everyone who's commented on resale shops!  Fun stuff!!!

i would just try a belt untill you are close to your goal weight because then your just spending money...and at least your buying cloths because your losing weight instead of gaining weight..which is always a good thing Smile
