Clothes that unexpectedly fit!!!!!

Quote  |  Reply

So I have a pair of cute beach leggings and matching top I bought a lonnnnnng time ago on sale - got it home and it didn't fit at all.  I could get the top on, but it hugged every bulge, and even though it's a long top meant to come down over the tummy and butt at the top of the leggings, it didn't hide a damned thing.

Month or so passed, I worked out, counted my calories, and it became a perfectly usable top to wear with jeans and stuff.  The leggings were still hysterically bad, and I was convinced I could never wear them.  They seemed TINY.  I could get them on, but I looked ridiculous.  I held onto them for giggles.

Fast forward a few more months.  The top is something I wear all the time.  Nice and roomy. and comfy.  My jeans are all dirty.... need something to wear while I'm doing laundry.  Hey!  How about those leggings that match?  No one's going to see me anyway, and I know I can get them on.  Held them up.  Yeah, these guys are small, but they're stretchy.

Put them on - wahoo!!!!  They fit, look cute as heck, and even have lots of room in the legs.  Not too tight in the butt or waist, but not so loose I can't wear them.  YAY!  One more thing to add to wardrobe circulation!

Congrats!!!!! I love when that happens!

I love to treat myself by trying on old clothes found in my closet. Best feeling in the world when they fit with room to spare.

Congratulations!

Such a great feeling huh??  Makes it ALL worth it!!  I love when I find a pair of jeans at the bottom of the pile that ended up there because they were slightly too small.....and VOILA....new jeans that fit without a trip to the mall!!!  Good for the soul and the wallet :)

I have some clothes like that and with motivation from everyone here, I will hopefully have the same results.

  Thanks

I havae two pair of capris that used to be 2 inches too small in the waist; now they are two inches too big. Yea!!!! I couldn't believe it when I tried them on... I was soooo happy!

How awesome for you! I bought size 14 pants two months ago (down from size 16) and now they are too loose! Yay for smaller clothes!

Greatest feeling in the world when you can fit into some old clothes that were too small.  I'm also enjoying having the problem that I have nothing to wear because my clothes are too big!

You write very well!  Are you a professional writer, if not, you should be.

Congratulations - but remember:   Staying This New Weight is HARDER than getting there, so watch those calories every day...

And enjoy your new thinness.

I just had that experience.  A good friend of mine bought a silk shirt for me when he was in China.  In 1991!!!  Although the tag says XL, it really wasn't.  I was 5'7 and about 230 when he bought it, and it wasn't close to fitting; it was much too small.  Well, I hardly ever throw anything out, and it had sentimental value to me, so I kept it, buried in the bowels of where I hang my shirts.  I've moved about 10 times since then (literally) but I never bothered to throw it out.

Fast forward to July 2009.  I have a new temporary job, where I'm business casual, and I had several days worth of shirts in the laundry.  The other shirts I had were too warm, so I started looking around the back of my hanging area.  Well, I've lost 35 pounds from my peak, so when I came across the shirt, I figured, "what the heck."  It fit!  It was a little tight, but I could, and did, wear it.  For the very first time.  Now I have 46 pounds to reach my goal, but still, it was SWEET to be able to tell him that I was finally able to wear that shirt!

Congrats to you!!! I totally know the feeling recently I'm fitting into my 'old' clothes and it's the BEST feeling in the world to know that all the hard work DOES pay off...

It is definitely a great feeling.  I have a closet full of size medium tops that had gotten too small on me.  Over the last couple of years, I've had to buy extra larges.  With 17 pounds gone, the rolls of fat that made the larges look awful are gone, and I can wear all the mediums in my closet again.  And it's such a relief to be able to avoid spending more money on clothes that will hopefully be too big on me in a few months.
