5'5" Club anyone?? Similar YCC-ers working together!! (Sorry, but we're now closed.)

Quote  |  Reply

I saw this in the Weight Loss forum and thought it'd be great for the YCC forum (I hope that's alright) :]

I know that there have been/are posts similar to this, but I haven't seen one where we actually work together to reach our goals.  We all need motivation no matter what shape, size, weight, etc. we are, and I think that if we all work together here, have an optional weigh-in day (Sunday), and tell each other about our goals and accomplishments, we'll feel even more motivated to get these pounds off than before!

If you're 5'5" (or within 1-2 inches of it), you're welcome to talk here!! Get acquainted with the other members here with similar stats and goals, and motivate each other!

Tell who you are, your stats, what you eat, your goal weight, your story, and talk to other people about all of it!!  Come here if you need to vent, need support, advice, or whatever.

hannikate - I started working out and dieting around January, and the first time I saw results was in April. It was like one day my body suddenly kicked in and realized that it wasn't eating as much as it should. So within one month or so I dropped around 6lbs. So what I'm saying is don't give up! Eventually your body will realize whats happening and then it will start to kick in.

Also I made a mistake when I first started - I built up too much muscle in my legs and butt and it made me way too heavy (and too muscular). So I changed my work out to repititions isntead of weight - that way you don't build muscle but tone instead.

I think I might be platueing right now :/ Does anyone know how zig-zagging works?

And hi Amanda! Welcome to the group :)

Heather - i think you're right, we are very close in weight and height and age. Almost twins?? :p

Hey guys :) I know I'm late for weigh in, but since I was out of town yesterday, I figured I'd just post it today!

Current Weight: 127.5lbs

Goal Weight: 125.0lbs

Goal for (7/27): 126.5lbs or better :)

I was 127.0 all week, but my weight's always a little higher on the weekends :) I'm really going to try hard to stay on track this week!!! I keep telling myself I'm soooo close, I just really need to be good to make it there! I'm going to try to work out at least 3x this week and hope that that, along with my good diet, gets me to my goal soon! I was hoping to be there by Aug. 1st, but I'll settle for any time before the 15th, since that's when I'm going back to college and I'd like to be maintaining by then! ;)

--Edit--

Lol, I keep getting confused because I'm a Heather too, so sorry if one of these days I accidentally respond to one of the messages for you, Heatherx! hehe :P

Amanda, anyone is welcome to this group at anytime! No matter how long it's been put together :D Just keep being motivated, and it will continue happening! Haha I get what you mean...PB is a separate food group for me ;] I probably should have a cleaner diet, but since it's summer for me, it's kind of hard for me to do with going to friend's houses and all :/  But, since school for me starts Aug. 5th, it will be easier then.

Theswissmiss, that was actually very, very encouraging! I keep losing hope, and I know that I can't do that!!! I just want to see some results, you know? I have gained a whole heck of a lot of muscle.  Most of it in my legs and butt, too! But, I did just start increasing my weight, and lowered my reps...but I do want to be more muscular...maybe that will have to wait, though? I don't know, but I just need to hang on longer.  I'll refuse to give up, now! Thanks :D

Hharris, YAY! You're sooo close :D It's very motivating when I hear that someone is just about to reach their goal! You can do it! Only 2.5lbs. to go!

Hannikate, I feel ya.  I don't have enough time to pack myself good lunches so I end up eating out in between jobs, and like you said- I hang out with friends as much as possible while everyone's in town for the summer and let's face it- nobody's watching a movie with veggies in tow.  My semester doesn't start up again until Aug. 20, though.  And I'm going to FL on Aug. 15 (with a very attractive male friend, at that) so I'd really like to be stricter up until then to lose some weight.  Gotta be swimsuit ready and all :)

Thanks for the welcome everyone!  Now I'm off to work!

yea, actually yesterday I was wondering if I should eat a more balanced diet...I mean I keep within my 1200 limit, give or take 100 calories or so. But its mostly yoghurt or zone bars or cereal or nuts. How important is it where your calories come from? Sure, I'll have the occasional salad but I'm not really a fan of salads unless it has cheese and nuts (which ruins the whole point I suppose).

And guys today i weighed myself...122 on the dot! hurrah! progress! however, then I was also wondering how I will know when I have really lost weight, since I keep fluctuating so much...

hharris...ah you're so close! Keep chugging along!

Yay! I love seeing people make progress! Keep up the terrific work :D

I guess you would be able to tell if you keep making progress the weeks following that week.  So, just keep us all updated!

I'm so excited you guys! I dropped a little of that weekend weight, and have been eating 1300 or so cal the last few days (100 more than my goal, but its all been nutritious stuff!) and this morning, after going to work out hard last night... I was 126.0lbs! 1 more pound!!! I can taste it, I'm so close! lol. I keep thinking maybe I should go to 124 or 123, just so that I can be a -solid- 125, and so that I don't start celebrating over a fluctuation or something XD But any way you cut it, I'm getting close!!! :))))

theSwissMiss - I think that as long as you're getting all of your food groups, you'll be getting all of your vitamins, and that's the important thing. I have been doing the 1200cal thing too, and the most important part is just keeping it balanced. If you're not big on salads, how about just regular veggies? A handful of roma tomatoes or a bowl of baby carrots? If you're still not big on those, how about some fruit? Grapes or pineapple spears maybe? Yum! :) Way to go on the 122! You can do it!! :D Just watch your "trend" numbers - they'll tell you how much of it is legit loss.

oh most definitly, i am a big fan of fruits...i love them, especially right before i go to work out. hehehe, hharris you can definitely taste it! keep going!

so today i was extremely hungry for some reason. EXTREMELY. I ate 1500 calories instead of 1200 and am heading over to the gym right now...does anyone know, is this ok? I am worried cause i finally made 122lbs and i dont wanna ruin it.

Hanni - It should be a change each month I would suppose. Since I have been walking 10,000 steps a day I have lost 1 - 1.5 inches off my thighs in only about 1 week/week & a half.

Amanda - Welcome!

Theswissmiss - Haha. I know.  And whats wrong with too much muscle? It means you can eat morrrre!

Heather - You are super close to your goal, how lucky & congrats!

Bleh - So I have beeen doing sooooo good with eating healthy, and today I blew it with one meal I had two hamburgers w/cheese & chips :( like 1200 calories in one sitting holy crap. It was a school barbeque & so I ate and then it was bad. I did walk 13,500 steps so far and its only 7:42 at night :) So that is my plus for today. I am having a very light dinner though so that I dont go over my calorie intake even though I was aiming for 1200, it will be like 1500. GAY. BUT tomorrows a new day :)

Hello fellow 5 foot 5 inch-ers.

I'm Lauren-former soccer player and rower- out of college, out of sports! Basically I let myself take a rest after years of work. All my muscle melted to fat and here I am!

Height: 5'5"- med. frame

HW: 160

LW: 130

CW: 142

Goal: 130-135

These last pounds are SO hard to lose, but I have good motivation so I'm still truckin!

Became a vegan as an experiment- dropped lbs. so fast and felt great! Am still not eating dairy, but back on meat for protein. I'd recommend becoming a vegan to anyone- it changed my life.

Thanks for this forum- it's nice to see you guys are all smaller than I am- something to aim for!

Sorry that I haven't been on for a few days, my internet has been completely dead (which has been horrible!!), so I haven't been able to be on at all.  It's really made staying in my calorie limit more difficult.  I've begun to really, really rely on CC! lol!!

Welcome, Lauren! We're all glad to have you join :D

This week, I've been decent.  My mom's had treats around the house, so I've been ripping off a piece of this, and snacking a tiny bit on a piece of that...but nothing major.  I really need to get my snacking under control.  I'll eat a few chips here, and a bite or two of chicken there, and not count it in my day.  I've also not been able to go work out these last two days because of a super bad headache...so I'll have to do that again on Saturday.  Urg.  I juust now realized that all next week I won't be able to really work out because where I work out is going to be closed all week :/  I'll just have to do something like walking or something....

So, there's just an update :]  I'm so glad to see everyone doing so well! It's so encouraging!

Hannikate - When I find myself taking bite-size snacks, I just add 10 calories for every bite. I figure it covers whatever I took a bit out of, and its not like I am biting into a slab of butter ya know?

SOOOO I have been consistently 122 over the past few days, both in the morning and the afternoon. Which is great news because it means I really did lose the weight, and it wasnt just a fluke!

Alright :)

Today is weigh in, but I aint weighing in till after I go walking BECAUSE yesterday was kind of my free day that I havent had in a while. I ate pizza & had hawaiian punch & pancakes BAD! Well so I ate WAY to many calories which means more sodium, PLUS i ate pizza which means trippppple sodium & I had no sleep last night 5 hours? Haha. So, I have decided after I go walking (after I get re-hydrated) I will weigh in. I know that I am 120- ish. NOT 121/122. LOL. I have been pulling 120's till I ate all that junk. So its a fluke. Haha.

Welcome lauren. :)

Hannikate - I hate when my internet goes completely dead thank god for my boyfriends laptop which has wireless & the people who dont lock their wireless internet ;) Hahaha. Yeah I would count every bite 5-10 calories that will really help you I think. - AND BTW! Walking is an amazing workout! I have lost 1.25 inches off my waist & 2 inches of my thighs & 2 inches off my booty! Haha. Which now makes me 34-24.75-35 I basically want to lose .75 off the waist & 1 off the booty/hips. Oh and like one more off my thighs. AND my body fat has gone wayy down too I am in the 18% now, and I use to be in the 20% before starting to walk 10,000 steps a day (or 70,000 a week) & I have only been doing this for exactly two weeks. Just check out my journals, I basically write everything - My deficit, My calorie Intake, What I eat, How many steps I walk, What I exercise. Yesterday I was super sick with a cold, runny nose, BAD headache I basically felt like **** and wasnt going to workout but I just couldnt not workout so I did and I was just going to go for 30 minutes the MIN. (I usually go for an hour) BUT I got myself to go for 45 minutes I would have gone longer but I was going to go out with my friends and my boyfriend was hurring me. LOL. Alright. Sorry for this loooooooong thing :P

Theswissmiss - So have you figured out what your going to do about your calories? I mean if you losing pretty fine then I mean I guess I wouldnt really worry about it - being that everything on the internet is just an estimation BUT i mean its still a pretty close one BUT it also may be 200 calories off and you may be just fine. So just do what works for YOU. Everyone is different in how they lose weight. But congrats on the 122 :) YOUR GETTING THERE! Whats your goal?

Ah! I tried the zig-zag calorie thing Fri and Saturday, so my weight is up (bla), but hopefully it'll jump-start my ridiculously slow metabolism.

5'5"

HW: 160

LW: 130

CW: 144

Goal:135 (for now)

Oh plus it's TTOM for me so I'm not too upset - though it is a good motivation to dive back into at least one salad per day

Hope you girls did well this week!!

Hey, all :D

Theswissmiss:  congratulations on the 122!! That's great :D Keep it up, you're doing great!

Heatherx33:  Wow, you're close :D How long do you walk for? And do you just keep a normal pace, or do you go faster?

Laurensking:  If it's TTOM don't worry about it too much.  Just go with it, and it should happen soon enough.

I wasn't able to weigh today, but I'll make sure to do it tomorrow.  I'm nervous about it (as I have been the last few weeks), because I haven't been having the best of luck with losing.  But, I'm just waiting for it...as we all have to.

Sooo...I think I have finally figured it out! I will just listen to my body.

I will aim for 1200 calories, BUT if I've worked out during the day and I am still hungry I will allow myself another 200-250. This still allows for enough of a deficit and I am not going around being super hungry.

This morning I weighed myself - 120.4! I couldn't believe it so I weighed myself again in the afternoon and it was 121.2! Which means I've lost another pound! I am very excited and I am actually starting to SEE results. My tummy is flatter and my legs look nice (i've always had seemingly floppy legs...yay lunges!)

Lauren - I've heard that if you go to maintenance level during TTOM and then back down to regular calories it can actually help you lose weight because that week will boost your metabolism. I've never tried it so I cant be sure. Keep posting about zig-zagging, I am curious about trying it out.

Heather - I've started walking too, instead of running. Last week, while I was running on the treadmill, I suddenly realized that I hate running. So I stopped and just started briskly walking uphill, and its actually really good excersize. I do that instead of running. Don't worry about eating pizza - we all need a day to relax, and anyways you were sick. Its bad for you to excersize while you're sick because you need all the energy you can get to boost your immune system.

GIRLS KEEP IT UP! We are all doing so well!Cool

Alright.

Start Weight: 140

Last Week: 121.2 (w/ 19.3% body fat)

Current Weight: 120.0 (w/ 18.2% body fat)

Goal Weight: 115/117 and/or 16% body fat.

Hannikate - I go walking usually an hour a day which gets me anywhere from 7,000 to 15,000 DEPENDING on which day and how many steps I took. Like for instance sometimes I get only 2,000 steps at school and sometimes I get up to 7 or 8 thousand steps at school and then I go walking for an hour and it gets me to where ever sometimes right at 10,000 sometimes below sometimes way above. WEEKENDS suck though hahaha, like today as of now after walking for an hour  i have only 6,559 which means I have 3941 more steps to go which I doubt I will get because its sunday, I am sick and I just want to lay in bed. LOL. Oh and sometimes I walk fast and sometimes I just walk regular. Depends. Steps is steps as long as I get 70,000 by the end of the week its all good.

Theswissmiss - I think that is a good idea thats what I do for the most part. Haha. I know I should be exercising when I am sick but walking isnt hard core exercising or anything I mean its sooo easy hahaha. It is a good exercise though, some people dont even consider walking an exercise. AND WOW on the 120.4 soon your going to be passing me up! BTW what is your goal weight? you havent told me.

goal weight - 117lbs. I figure that is very realistic considering that was my weight one month into college.

Start Weight: 130

Last Week: 122.0

Current Weight: 120.4/121

Goal Weight: 117 (115 if I'm up for it)
