5'5" Club anyone?? Similar YCC-ers working together!! (Sorry, but we're now closed.)
I saw this in the Weight Loss forum and thought it'd be great for the YCC forum (I hope that's alright) :]
I know that there have been/are posts similar to this, but I haven't seen one where we actually work together to reach our goals. We all need motivation no matter what shape, size, weight, etc. we are, and I think that if we all work together here, have an optional weigh-in day (Sunday), and tell each other about our goals and accomplishments, we'll feel even more motivated to get these pounds off than before!
If you're 5'5" (or within 1-2 inches of it), you're welcome to talk here!! Get acquainted with the other members here with similar stats and goals, and motivate each other!
Tell who you are, your stats, what you eat, your goal weight, your story, and talk to other people about all of it!! Come here if you need to vent, need support, advice, or whatever.
Yeah, that's a good thing to do :]
Hahah that's what I'm saying!! I'm tired of trying so hard and nothing happening, so I'm just hoping that about two months of this will help me get this ball rolling!!
Where ARE they, right? It's like they just vanished :/
Congrats on the body fat %age, Heather :D That's great!!! Just keep staying healthy - sounds like you're doing great!!
Hanni - I'm really sorry about the starvation mode bit :( What matters is that you really are becoming healthier, even if you have to go backwards in order to go forward. Please don't be discouraged - You can do it :D
Thank you, Heather! Yeah, I'm pretty frustrated, but if it gets things going--well--then that's what I'm going to have to do, right? It will only help me in the long run.
The only thing I'm trying to decide right now is when to start, and how to do it. Should I just go right up to 2000? Or should I make my way up? If I were to make my way up, would I do it a little bit more each day, or do it really slowly? Urgggg...I hate this :/
I think the best way to do it would be to add 100cal every day or every other day until you're up to 2000. That'll minimize weight gain and your metabolism can speed up gradually.
Alrighty, that sounds good :] So, hopefully, I'll be all the way up by this time next week.
I didn't get to weigh today, but I might do it sometime in the middle of the week. Right now wouldn't be a very smart time to weigh anyways since I still have all of the water weight from totm. Yikes, I just realized that I haven't worked out since last Monday :O B A D ! But, I was sick, so I couldn't help it. I'm going tomorrow, so it's all goooood!
Someone help :(
Help me come up with a new workout. Hanni what do you do to workout?
I am over walking, and I need to change it up because since I havent been walking for a week and a half I have gained a pound or two. I was 116.6 on sunday, and now on my spring scale I am 117! It sucks. I need motivation so bad. I mean idk. HELP.
I'd be glad to help :D
When I work out, I kind of just go with the flow. I don't exactly do everything flawlessly, because I don't follow a plan or anything, but this is what I do. I go 5x/week, and every day I go, I do both weights and cardio. I do about 30mins., of weights, and then spend the rest of my time doing cardio. For weights, even though I probably shouldn't, I do the machines. I'll use 3-5 machines that work a certain muscle group (arms, legs, abs) every day, and do about 4 sets of each. In cardio, I do the elliptical for about 10mins., the treadmill for however long, and cycle (on the indoor ones) for about 20mins. or so.
That's basically my workout. It's not much, but it gets the job done :D Tell me if you didn't get any of that, lol.
Your lucky you have a gym. I am too poor to have a gym membership, so I have to either go to a park or just walk.
I cant believe it, now I am like 118. DUDE, gaining from not walking is crazy. I been eating a little bit too much I think. Okay. I have to get down to business its just hard. I am hungry, and tired. So I eat lately more then I am use to, and then I sleep when I get home, idk why I am soooo tired. I think immediately after I get home from school. I will just leave. I think saturday and sunday I will go running and thursdays. and then walk 10,000 steps the rest of the time, and only eat 1200 on weekdays and 1500 on weekends.
Do you think that maybe you're still carrying water weight from totm? When it's that time for me, I keep my water weight for a few extra days after I'm off.
But, it sounds good! I honestly don't think I'd be able to force myself to get out of the house and go running right when I got there, as sad as that sounds :/ I go to work out after school, too, but I know that if I went home first, I would be soooo lazy. Hahha.
I've been really good this week so far. Every day my grade is in the A range, sticking to about 1450 calories a day (with 200 or so burned from exercise), and I've been exercising every day. I've been alternating between walking for 45 min. and working on that 'Learn how to run a 5k thing'. I'm definately starting to feel a little better. But I have been really tired lately. Could this be from the decrease in calories? Hopefully my body will adjust soon.
Hope everyone's having a good week!
Hello girls.
I decided I'm going to hit up an older group, because you all make me feel ancient!
hehe. Good luck with your weigh-ins and everything!

Oceangirl: Yeah, it's probably just the decrease of calories + working out. Your body is probably just thinking of all of this to being very new and not really done adjusting. I'm doing the C25K, and even though it can be tiresome occasionally, it really does make me feel great! Keep it up!
Lauren: Alright, best of luck! We hate to see you go, but do what you've got to do!
:D
Okay so its still morning, but I am pumped about getting to my goal! Wednesday I was 117.40, this morning 120.0. Eek. So I am going to try extra extra hard and when I am hungry I will drink a glass of water first!
I hope by the end of the day I reach my goals which are:
Counting my calories.
Only eating 1300.
Walking 10,000 steps.
Hey, ladies!
Ohhh man... being back at school has made it so busy! I'm walking a TON up here, and I'm having to keep adding in calories to make my weight stay the same. Its pretty much always 123-125, and my goal is to maintain between 120-125, so that's perfectly fine with me :)
I guess the carrying a backpack everywhere and walking 1/2mile to class (and then back) has made a difference. I've only been to the gym like twice, but I'm still staying pretty active from all of that! I'm hoping to go rock climb tonight (for the first time this school year!) I'm super excited :D
My nutrition grade for this month is an A-! Which is like, my all time high, lol. Not bad considering I've been back at school for 2 weeks already. I've upped my calories and have been averaging just about 1400/day. I was doing 1200/day with weekends off when I first started maintaining, but I ended up still losing from all of the walking, so I increased. I'm thinking I'll stay around 1400 as my week-long average. So maybe more some days, maybe less. If that's not enough or I go work out more often, I'll consider making it a 1500 average. :)
I bought a new bikini last weekend, and I have to say, I actually feel really good about my body now :) I'm not the skinniest girl at the pool (and I don't aim to be), but I feel so proud and confident just to have done this for myself, you know? Plus I went to old navy for their $12 jeans sale. I'm a Size 2, Long now :) Which is just about right! I don't really want to be any smaller than that. (I'd like to have a LITTLE bit of a booty ;P)
How's the metabolism doing, Hanni?
Heather, try not to be too down about it. Just do as much as you can, and your body will get used to it soon. No worries :)
Hi it's been soooo long!! I've been away over the summer working on an internship but now I'm back!
I'm at school for my last semester of college and it's really annoying, I don't know what they put in the food, the calorie counts seem inaccurate, and I can never tell what hidden ingredients they add that I may not be able to eat.... (i.e. milk)
But the good news is I lost 2 inches off my waist in the past few months AND, what's even more awesome is that although I had developed re-feeding syndrome from getting over my anorexia and upping my cals/carb intake (I was on acid inhibitors for like four months for it, bloated and in pain constantly, it was horrible), it is now GONE and i can eat WHATEVER I WANT OMGGGGG!!! it's so awesome! my cals are now consistently around 1400-1500 and I exercise three times a week with a friend, mostly spinning and a bit of pilates/toning exercise. I love it. This feels totally different from ana, the hours and hours of running I used to do, the feeling of starvation... I am SO glad that I'm healthy now and even though I still feel the nagging sensation that I want to lose about 5-8 lbs more (I weigh 125 i think? at 5'6"), I look in the mirror and am REALLY HAPPY with what I see. Warm fuzzy feelings!
OH by the way guys, since I went into recovery, the addition of nutrients has caused me to kind of go thru the puberty I never got to go thru in terms of growth spurts, and I have grown 2 inches!!! I'm 5'6" and a half now and I can't believe it. I am SO happy I am finally taking care of my body.
PS
can i still be in the 5'5" club??? idk lol
Love to all!
J
Hey well its 12:10 my time, and I am in school :)
I have been doing good.
B: 325 - Waffles w/PB&Honey
S: 90 - Fat free yogurt.
L: 250 - Odwalla bar.
Then I plan for the rest of the day
S: 80 - Grapes
S: 186 - Lucky Charms.
D: 254 - I dont know yet lol.
I have walked 2,976 steps so far today, and I dont finish school till four. I hope my four I have 6,000 steps :)
I am also hoping that some of the weight I have gained is water weight. I am so happy that today I am finally getting back on the wagon after like 2 weeks.
EDIT:
Okay so now I am home, it is over 100 degrees outside holy cow! So I am going to wait about an hour and twenty minutes before I go walking. I hit my goal for four o'clock which was 6,000, I have 6,233. So now I need 3767 - which is about 38 minute walk. :)
Heather - Thanks, I know I am glad I got my motivation back :) sounds like your doing amazing, congratulations!
Ahhh...maintenance is sweet :] Since my ED began, I haven't eaten ~2000 calories consistently since around this time last year, so it's new, but definitely nice ;] I'm making sure that I'm eating healthily still, but I do allow myself to have treats. The one thing I'm having trouble with is my sodium. It's insane how high it gets! On average, this week it's been about 3,300mg (according to this site's analysis). Wow...that's not good. But, I'll try to get it under control, even if it is supppppper hard, since these are foods I've been eating every day for eons. But, other than my sodium, I've been doing very well. I was with friends last night, and we went out to eat, and I decided that I was actually going to let myself enjoy it and have a little bit of their stuff, but still get a more healthy, lower calorie dish. It was nice ;D I ended up at about 2300, though :/
Damasknymph, don't be silly! Of course you can stay!
That's great of the inches lost, and the inches gained!! I'm so glad to hear that you are finally happy with the way your body looks, that is such a great accomplishment!
Sounnnnnds good, Heather :D Blechhh I hate hot weather, I want fall to be here...now. It's close, though. Keep up the great work! You'll have that water weight off in no time :]
Hanni - OOOooo. Maintaince is sweet :) Its okay if you go over a little bit. I think maintaince is enjoyment :)
OMG! I am super happy today, 116.6! I went from being 120.4 yesterday and the day before to being 116.6 today AHAH. Today I am super motivated now. Now I am only 1.6 away from 115, so I decided then when I get to 115 I will just maintain that there is NO need for me to lose the extra two pounds because I doubt it will change anything on my body but just the number on the scale, but who knows I always change my mind and other heather says between her goal weight 125 and 123.5 soo maybe I might but I just really want to get to 115. So I am going to eat healthy today, and going to walk 10,000 steps minimum! Hehehe.
Yesterday I ate 1200 calories (which was under my goal of 1300 - yay) and I walked 10,430 steps (which was over my goal of 10,000 - YAY) and I had no sweets and treats and resisted this mochi - hawaiian candy sitting on my counter, I think I need to shove those down my boyfriends throat they are way to tempting!
Congrats, Heather!!! :D See? Just a random fluctuation :) You can't let those get you down too much :) Just get to the 115 and then see where your body takes you. I just got back to college so all of the walking around just sent me down naturally. It's all about finding your equillibrium when you get to maintenance, and not being too hard on yourself about staying *exactly* at that number. The only difference I see from 123-125 is a little bloating, generally because I'm closer to 123 on "normal" days, and 125 on "treat" days. Last night, my boyfriend took me to this greaaat japanese steakhouse (called Wasabi). I had 7 shrimp, about 2oz of terriaki chicken (I stopped when I was full :D Yay me!) and double veggies instead of rice + miso soup/salad. I was up over 1800cal 0_o so I weighed 126.0 when I got back last night. This morning, he and I went to work out for an hour and a half, laid out by the pool and swam, and when I got back, bam. 123.5. So take maintenance with a grain of salt :)
(And ugh, its been 95+ here too! Crazzzzzzzy heat. Loads of fun to walk to class in -with a 30lb backpack-)
Hanni - Maintenance is wonnnnderful :D Just adding the extra 200 cal for me seems like a lot ^_^ Really, its just an extra snack, but I love knowing that I can go a little over and be ok :D
EDIT: Oh! And I added a few new pics :) Another stomach one, though I don't see much difference. Just time to tone up ^_^
ok so crazy happy dance needed.
I decided that in order to get as much as I could out of CC while I was abroad, I needed to buy a scale. So I found one really cheap at the nearby shopping center. I walked there and back (about 4.6 miles) in the lovely Australian heat just to buy a scale. Best idea EVER. Because when I got back, I finally weighed myself since I left the US about a month and a half ago. I was about 172 when I left, but now the scale says 160! Woohoo! How awesome is that? I was NOT expecting to see that. Now I'm so much more excited to keep up with everything!
