Hi!! and thanks to everyone for the encourgement. I go back to work tomorrow and that will make it easier to NOT eat all day long.
I know what you mean about the seats. I don't go anyplace because of the fitting into seats. I would love to fly to my sisters in Las Vegas, but Southwest Airlines makes you buy TWO seats if you cannot fit comfortably in one with the arms down. The same thing with seats in a movie theater. I feel better about going by myself and then I can be assured that no one will sit on either side of me.![]()

I did not know about the original group for 2008. I may not have been in the group, but I too was over 300 pounds and lost during 2008.
Started July 14, 2008 at 336.4
- 08/01/08 = 320.0
- 09/01/08 = 313.2
- 10/01/08 = 302.6
- 11/01/08 = 296.8
- 12/01/08 = 293.4
- 01/01/09 = 291.4
- Today = 287.6
Total weight loss to date = 48.8
Goal Weight = 135.0
My Story:
In my early teens, I broke 100lb. In my early twenties, I broke 200lb. In my early thirties, I broke 300lb. Well, with 40 around the corner I definately did not want to break 400lb.
Just think - When I started this, I carried the weight of two 168.2 lb women. With that, even my two women are overweight. This site gives me the number of 135.0 to shoot for.
I would like to be counted in the 2009 group to continue on with the rest of my weight loss journey and lifestyle change.
Let's get motivated to finish this!!!!

I'm Tonya. While I'm not new to this website, I HAVE been gone for quite some time. I began last year with so much enthusiasm, but I didn't hold onto it. I won't provide any excuses - and I could probably come up with many. Bottom line - I'm ready to truly commit to this.
When I began last year, I was around 343 pounds. I'm currently 338 (as of 01/01/2009). I would love to be a member - Lord knows I need the motivation and support! And I promise to also make contributions.

Been back on my plan now for 2 days, discovered something so good to snack on .. baby carrots + 1tbsp Natural Almond Butter .. omg delish !!
Been doing pretty well, although I havent done any formal exercise, I did rearrage all my kitchen today, as well as cleaned out all my cabinets and had to put all the food back in etc, + laundry .. Im so tired !! So i guess I did get some type of a work out !!

It is great to see all the new people! I was on the thread last year but I didn't lose much last year so I will be starting anew as well. As I say all the time, but for some reason it just never snapped back in last year.
But, last year did bring some challenges with taking classes full time and keeping up with a demanding work schedule. I definitely let my health and well-being take the fall, but I kept up just enough that at least I did not have a net gain after my 70-lb loss in 2007, and that itself is an accomplishment (so I keep telling myself!).
I am really into walking and hiking, and this year I have set a goal for myself to hike a 60-mile stretch in the Sierras. This will need to be done in about a week, so hiking 10 miles/day on steep trails with a 30+ pound pack is my motivation for losing at least 50 lbs by August! To do this I really need to get control of my food intake in a serious way again as well as do a lot of practice hikes. I want to enjoy the hike and not suffer through it.
So here are my resolutions for 2009!
I have a nice route around my very hilly neighborhood that is almost exactly 1 mile. I am going to try to walk it twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening, in addition to extra cardio (4-5x/week) & weight training (2-3x/week) in the evenings and longer hikes on the weekends.
AND, more importantly because I am so bad at it, I am going to restrict sweets and be more in control of my food intake. I am going to maintain a 1,000 calorie deficit per day on a weekly average, and increase my protein intake.
I hope everyone is settling back into non-holiday mode and starting to get into those healthy routines again! Good to see you all!
