PLATEAUS? SETBACKS?
- WE are committed.
- THEY are temporary.
- WE will persevere.
- THEY are wasting their time.
PLATEAUS? SETBACKS?
They may annoy us.
They wont deter us.
We beat them in 2008.
We'll beat them 2009.
Just watch and see...
Reason: Updated stats
Welcome to all the new people!
Wow almost 1,000 lbs lost that is GREAT!
mstclark - My name is Tonya also, not many people spell it the way we do!
First week back to school done and starting to get busy but it is a good busy. I am just glad this term I dont have to go right by the food court where they have the BIGGEST rice krispie treats I have ever seen, I mean they have to be at least the size of 4 or 6 of the regular ones together.
Hope you all have a good weekend!
Jerry,
Welcome to the group. I see we have very similar stats, I'm 24 years old, just over 6' tall, started at 362 lbs and am currently 358 lbs.

Hey everyone!
My name is Jerry and I'm a 25 year old man, 6'1 ... My friends look at me different now and women don't look at me ... A close friend whom I haven't seen in 2 years came into town for a visit over New Years and asked what happened and why I was the biggest she had ever seen. That really let me know how bad this thing is...
First, I have to say you have magnificent blue eyes! Second, I would not call someone a "close" friend who could not look beyond your weight gain. It is so sad people judge us right away because of our outward appearance. Of course you knew how bad things have got ... but you are back on the journey to a healthy new you! May all of us be an encouragement to you! Also, for someone who is going to med school, you will really be an asset to those who struggle with weight. Best wishes to you and welcome to the group! Norma Jean
Hi Jerry - youre on the list and welcome, welcome! Im still a bit shell shocked at the outpouring of participants (in a good way, of course). The potential we have for 2009 to make such significant changes in our weight and therefore our lives - Im so excited for everybody!
Almost 5 lbs ?! You sure know how to kick off a new years, Koralli! I know your fiance is supportive but sounds like a sweetie romantic too :D. Gotta love free stuff but is that personal training also free? I know they can be pricey but what a cool idea.
NJ, I know what you mean about friends and weight. Granted, I managed to isolate myself quite well but there were two friends who never let me really break off, touching base with me and bringing me in on holidays. Of course, my sis in law Alice who intervened with me and she really is my ex (divorced my brother many yrs ago).
Velvet - giant krispie treats? Satan, get behind me! Ive always had a 'thing' for them. Hope schools off to a good start and that 'busy' isnt stressing you.
Nah the personal training is 25$ for 30 mins .. but i think it might help me to make sure im on the right track, I will need to get more info first tho =)

Hello, My name is Meagan Im 27, 5'10" and this is my first attempt at serious dieting.
SW: 321 Jan 1st: 315 CW:311
I hope I can join you all. 300 was my magic number or if you will my wake up call, I hadnt weighed myself in months and it was after a very frustrating trip shopping for a dress for christmas parties that I decided I needed to face it and get in gear for 2009! When I faced the scale that weekend I was 321... when I saw that it just clicked!
I have been comfortable with my self in the past, although still overweight I am currently shooting to get back to that place which was usually in the 220 range. Really I just want to be able to NOT shop in the plus size departmetn anymore :)
Ultimately I wold like to get down to 150ish.
Wow, we're busy in here! As I was reading, I clicked to respond and had a couple new posts! Ok, then got super busy and there were even more posts.
Punk, awesome new lowest! Can't wait for numbers like that. GL hitting 250s by the 20th, you can totally do it! And I do rewards too, but only big ones. So highlights for hitting my under 300 mark.
Welcome Pamm, pixie, wish, song, jerry, and Meagan! And welcome to this thread moogie and victoria!
Pam, ah nuts. I realized I don't do so well when they come in a jar or can. And a few extra there is not so good, you'd think I know that by now. But, sounds like you've been pretty much on track, so good job!
Sun, wow, pics are looking awesome! I love how the dress keeps shrinking and the neckline keeps going lower.
Denise, glad to hear that you're feeling better. It does stink when we are in pain or just plain sick and can't do what we want.
Dreamer, I know I do much better on days that I work. Once you start school up, it will probably be tons easier to stay on track with your foods. And all the walking will help tons!
Korali, great job on the 292! And congrats on the 3 years!
velvet, I actually love rice krispy treats! Even the big ones aren't that bad on calories, you'd be surprised. Welll, at least compared to other sweet things. I love the ones I get at Sam's club...100 cals each!
Today's been alright. I was so much hungrier, as I always am the day after lifting weights. So ate over my calorie aim. Still under maintenance, but frustrating that I'm craving salt lately. I don't know why.
I don't know if it's just the people I've come in contact with or what I'm watching, or something else. But it seems that so many people are focused on health and losing weight than before. I don't mean since the new year since I expected that, but even before then. Maybe I'm just more aware of it now than I was before. Who knows. Anyone else notice this?
Silly me I was still on the old thread 300 club for 2008. I was wondering why no one was writing anymore.
I just got back doing real good a little over a week ago and I've just got off what I had gained over my first holidays. I didn't do to good through them, but I'm ready to get back to work. So glad to see so many new members.
Im so impressed with how big the list is getting ... its great !!!
Anthony has invited me out for dinner and a movie tonight, as our anniversary was yesterday, and I spent 12 hours at school. I dont know what to do, I really want to go hang out and have a good time, BUT I dont know how i can possibly pass on the popcorn ( I suppose I could make my own and sneak it in. I got an Air popper for christmas) but i must have something to munch on if at the movies. And i know that if I have theater popcorn, It will suck, cuz its so salty !! Not to mention all that butter! So anyway thats out of the picture, Im not sabotaging my self this time. This was a problem I had in the past few months, making progress losing 3-4lbs, then celebration with a free day or meal, and it takes me another 3 days to get back on track, and back to the weight i was when I had the free day/meal. Ok so Mongolain Grill ( my fave) and my own popcorn that I will smuggle into the theater ! hahaha Sounds like a plan.
Oh for those of you who dont have a Mongolain grill in your area, its basically a stirfry buffet place, so i basically load up on veggies, with some meat and noodles ( or rice). I dont pour the sauce over my meal, i get it stirfried with lots of garlic, ginger, and hot peppers, and then get the sauce in a little pot, so i can dip only some bites. I usually end up using less than half a pot, thus saving cals and sodium !!!!!!!!
Have ye all notices how much I hate/love salt !
This mornings low .. 290.5 Only 5.5 more to go to be back to my lowest weight, I think im still retaining water since my fingers are swollen =(
Hope everyone has a great day, I will be spending the afternoon trying to track down cheap books for school, usually with a little leg work, i can find some half price books ( so cross your fingers for me), I think its insane that BOOK costs students ( who are poor) 100 bucks .. and thats just for one !!
Then off to dinner and a movie with my boy =)
~K
Good morning everybody! Well, since this is a weigh in for another group I am in, I went ahead and weighed in. My current weight is now 320, which is an 8 pound loss since January 1st. YAY! Sun, you need to change the OP, because you show that I have only lost 6 pounds. So since you need to change it anyway, you can make it show a 34 pound loss. YAY again!
Pam, what a wonderful start for 2009!
Hello, Hello! Looks like everyone is having a good week! I always need motivation after the first week though, because the water weight comes off so easy, then I get discouraged if I don't lose that much every week lol.. But this week has went well...good eating and down 4.3 lbs.
Hope everyone has a great Friday! And smile cause it's the weekend!
Good Day Everyone.
Tomorrow is the official weekly weigh in for me. Wondering how I am going to do.
Noticed a typo in the above list. I mean it HAS to be a typo.....
SW: 321.0 JAN 1ST: 3156.0 LOST: 7.0 scrletbgnias
Hi everyone! I think that I'd like to join this! My name is Sarah, I'm 31 years old (that's the first time I typed that...it just happened at the end of December-yikes!).
I've been overweight for as long as I remember. I think I've only ever tried to lose weight once before when I was in high school, but different things in the family life took over and it didn't take.
I've been at this since July/August, but didn't have a scale until September so that's what I count my start weight to be. I started my lifestyle change because there are many health issues in my family and my younger brother started having some issues and that scared me enough to want to change my life. I did slip a little during the months of November and December, partly because of my own laziness and partly because I choose to let those months go, but the end of December I knew I was turning back around and I did.
My starting weight was 401.4
January 1st weight was 385-ish...
Current weight is 379.0
Total lost to date: 22.4 lbs
Welcome everyone.
My weight loss has slowed down quite a bit recently...the one downside to not eating planets anymore...er, being quite as fat anymore. I went to the gym for the first time today. I feel that I didn't do enough, but it was quite an experience. I was nervous, but luckily I had my brother and my iPhone to keep me company. I also used the ellipitical trainer for the the first time...man, that's a rough piece of equipment. I was ready to take a nap within 5 minutes.
Anyway, I felt like sharing...I hope that's okay. ![]()
Welcome to all the new members, glad your on-board have a good week-end.
Bryank, well done for tackling the gym, I could not manage one minute on any gym machine, keep it up the weight does slow down and sometimes plateaux's just hang in there it will come off. Focus on eating well (healthy) each day and you will see results.
Have a good week-end everyone, I will its my birthday! YAY 21 again,again,again,again..... joke ![]()
Happy birthday Christine! (Wobbly)
Happy Birthday Wobbly !!! Have a peice of cake for me .. hmmmm cake ... drooool LOL
Welcome everyone! I'm so glad to see all the new faces around here. If we keep this up, we are sure to break the 1,000lbs mark this year. Sun, I think we need to set that as a goal and keep a talley with the total amount lost in the year (calculated after each monthly weight-in). But only if that isn't too much on your plate...you really are wonderful for keeping up with all of us! :)
topeze - I know extactly what you mean when you said you are starting to notice that more people around you are talking about living a healthier lifestyle. I have a couple of good friends that have been working on living healthy for a while. More for a lifestyle as opposed to any weightloss. Their knowledge and support has been great for us since they are so encouraging. They were just here last week and kept making comments about how great we looked and how proud they were of us for making the changes we have. Now, another friend of ours has expressed interest in doing what we have done for the past year to lose weight and get in shape. I hope he's up for the challenge!
Maegan - I adore your glasses. I must know where you got them. Also, we have similar stats with height, age, and beginning weight. I'm excited to keep up with you and bend your ear on your healthier life process.
Edit: Happy 21st Bithday Wobbly! ;)
