160 Club
I left the 170 club as of yesterday after a week stay. After finding no 160 club I decided to start one myself.
As of today (Sunday Jan 7, 2007) I am at 167.
I'm looking forward to meeting anyone else in this range and motivating each other onto the 150 club. Let the journey begin! WE CAN DO IT!!

Well, it seems like my scale is broken. I got a name brand for cheap at Big Lots, and it has never worked right consistantly. It will work great for about 4 days, and then freak out. (The battery is new, its on a level tile floor, I weight myself at the same time every day in the same state of undress) It told me that I weighed 199 lbs yesterday! UHM, no. I didn't gain 33 (edited... i can't do math!) pounds this week! So I weighed myself on my bf's scale first thing this morning, like I would do at home, and I'm at 159.2. I don't necessarily trust his either... so I'm going to hang out for another week or so here and monitor my weight with his to see if it stays under 160. I'm going to ask the birthday fairy for a "good" scale for my birthday (2/5).... any suggestions?
Ah!! Finally a half pound break-through!!! :) :) :) I'll take anything at this point.
Thanks for all the encouragement, guys....that's why I love this site!!

This morning I was down to 159lbs. but I don't want to leave. Six pounds in eleven days, but the weight always comes off easy at first for me. I think I'll hang around awhile longer, you know one day the scale will say 159 the next it will say 160, maybe I'm actually still in the 160's.
Hey All:
waterphoenix -- I do have a large water bottle with a straw that I drink from continuously. It's just been crazy busy here and I haven't been at my desk for more then 5 mins at a time so thats what the problem is.
Don't worry everyone. I haven't given up!
I'm having problems with my cousin, best friend and roommate (ie: in order to save our relationship we might have to stop being roommates. Unfortunatley, I'm the one putting this option forward.) I hate confrontation so I felt like crap yesterday and while I was waiting for my car to get repaired, I walked over to McDonalds for dinner. Surprisingly, becasue of the lack of food I had consumed over the day it still fit in my calorie intake limit for the day. Not the healthiest, I know.
So, got up this morning, jumped on the scale and voila: 165lbs!!!It's slowly coming down! YEAH

Hey all!
I just found this site this morning. Reading your posts are both entertaining and motivational!
Here's a little bit about me. I'm a 22-year-old 3rd grade teacher and Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant. I just got married last June and did a year-long student teaching last school year. With all of the stress of finishing school, planning a wedding, finding a job, etc. I lost some of my muscle mass, gained fat and overall just looked chunkier. This made me really sad when I almost didn't fit into my wedding dress! Not a good thing.
I have a super disciplined husband who has lost (and kept off) over 30 pounds since last year. His only words to me (out of love and support because he knows I'm self-conscious) were, "Do what you need to do to be comfortable in a swimsuit this summer because I want to go swimming with you and I want you to feel good about it."
I was ALWAYS athletic. I played soccer for 12 years, softball for 6 years, and a few years of basketball, volleyball and track in there too. Since my senior year of high school though, my activity rapidly declined because of joint pain (I have early signs of arthritis--both of my parents have had arthritis since their 40's). Anyway, I have been trying to get back on track.
As a result, I had been weighing myself at home for the last 5 months (I didn't have a scale before then) and it kept saying that I was in the 170's range. I got sick with a sinus infection last week and went to the doctor. I got weighed there, and much to my excitement, the scale there said 160 pounds!!! That made me feel tons better, even though I'm still sick. I'm getting pumped up for losing this extra weight (My goal is somewhere between 135-140, so I have more work to do).
Both of my parents are obese, my dad is morbidly so, and I am scared to death to end up like them. Please help me to not get discouraged because to me 20-25 pounds seems insurmountable!

This is my first post on the site. I am right on the line at 170, hoping by next week to be 169...lowest weight in a LONG time.
Hello everyone... I have been lurking around for a few weeks now and this is my first post.
I am 5'7" and I have a large frame (broad shoulders & upper body, large legs), and I turn 34 on Monday. I'm not married and have no children. I am currently at 164 lbs. My goal weight is eventually 145. In the next 8 weeks I would like to lose at least 10 lbs. For me the 140's is a good weight, I am a size 6 if I am ~148 lbs. I would be thrilled to get back there!! I am an 8/10 now depending on the brand of the clothes.
I haven't exercised at all really since September 2006. I'm starting to train for long distance running with two friends, we start on Sunday. So I am looking forward to getting back into shape and more so just feeling good about myself again!! I have been very, very off track the past few months. I lose about 35 lbs in the past year and am trying to keep it off!! In the past 4 months I have gained about 13 lbs.
Look forward to getting to know everyone!

Hi, I just signed up unto this site yesterday. I have been married now for 1 and a half years. Gained weight as soon as the wedding occurred. I am currently 168 pounds. I am hoping to be 130 and I am 27 years old. I am pregnant so I am trying to eat healthy. The very minimum of junk food. I have been gaining what i am supposed to be gaining for pregnancy. I just don't want to lose control. The baby will be born in two months, then I really want to focus on getting into shape. Right now is hard to exercise so I do minimum. So the healthy eating right now, then the real dieting in two months. I finally convinced my husband to watch his calories. He has gained 15 pounds since my pregnancy :). He usually eats whatever he wants and then trys to feed it to me too. So nice of him but he is a very bad weight partner. :)
Welcome new post-ers!
I'm still sitting at 165 lbs today, but that calculates into a total loss of 13 lbs since the New Year!!! YEAH
I took this week "off", because work was hell, my personal life seemed to mirror that, and its 'that time of the month'. I start back up again next week ... but I am kick starting it today by getting back on track with my workouts, etc.
I have good news though. My cousin has decided to join me in my weight loss quest! YEAH. I introduced her to Calorie Count and she is loving it. I'm not sure if she had joined yet, but she is using the listing of foods, etc. Not only is this good news for it, but it means that I have no excuse not to stick to my goal!!!

Although I just requested to be part of the journey, I weighed in this am and ound I am down to 156.4 lbs! I am ecstatic because that is an great indication that I am doing some things right (this time!). I started watching my diet and exercising on 1/8 and weighed 161. I stayed at 160 for nearly two weeks and was feeling really badly about it. Girlfriends losing 4 lbs/week, I was thinking, what is going on!
Well, to my revelation, I am doing what is right for me. I have reduced my sugar intake and may have a sweet 1-2 times/wk - which means A LOT of green tea!! That seems to block the craving and if I put it in a pretty cup, it's more "fashionable" to drink! (Whatever helps, right?) I have decreased my calories to 1500-1650 cal/day and increased my exercise from nothin' to 5X/wk - including spin, kick boxing and weight training. I have to admit that this time I eating way more veggies than I ever have on previous diet attempts and I feel a lot better! Not an easy thing to do when you're known to eat a 5 lb container of brownie bites for dinner! (Sick, wasn't it?!)
At any rate, I wish you all well. Don't forget that a lb/wk can be a healthy way to lose and be patient with yourself. Be sure to monitor (as we have been!) and see what gets YOU the best results. Not only in the weight loss, but in your attitude and the way you feel. Try not to compare and don't forget that the little steps DO count.

I think I should join at 161lbs. I am actually recovering from weight gained during the holidays. I was very bad and got back into the 160s.

I'm new to this site, and I'm really eager to get rid of this baby weight! I'm 164 right now, and pre-pregnancy, I was 150. My goal throughout my pregnancy was to look better after than I ever did before. I hope to be able to get down to 130, but I'm probably mostly going to be measuring my success by the way my old clothes fit. Man, would I love to be into single digit pant size?! I look forward to getting motivation from these forums. More to come.....
Well... a slight weight gain over the weekend... but I had dinner at my parents' on Saturday and just went nuts!!! Yummy, full calorie dinner! I know I could have controlled it a little better, but I decided to just enjoy it. And then I went to a party Saturday night and probably consumed half of my daily calories in cocktails.
Sunday I was good though, and I'm back at it today.... Looking forward to dipping under 160 for good very soon!

Jumped on the scale this morning and it read 170 again ... I was 165 last night. I think my scale is broken or something.
Anyway, I starting this 'new life style' thing again with a vengence. My goal of 130 ... here I come!!

Hi everyone! I stumbled upon this string of posts today and it seems to be exactly what I need... here's my story, since everyone else has shared:
I'm officially 25 and realize that if I'm going to lose weight and stay healthy, I need to start immediately. I'm 5'4" and 168 (down from a shocking 173 in early January) and have yo-yoed ever since my first diet when I was twelve. I feel so stupid looking back - why did I think I was obese when I was 120? And the 500-calorie diet when I was 135 and "disgustingly jiggly"? Yeah, that pretty much just messed up my metabolism for life. High school I was 140-155, but wore it well (I've always weighed a lot more than I look, due to high muscle mass from sports and a thick bone structure), and got in great shape when I was 18 due to a relationship with a fitness junkie. I was working out close to seven days a week - intense weight training and cardio - and got down to a rock-hard 145. When I got out of the relationship, I gave up the gym completely, lay around the house all day, and sprang up to around 165. Then I got pregnant, which shot me all the way up to (what I hope is a lifetime max of) 192. I didn't have too much trouble losing that weight, but have remained slightly pudgy ever since.
After years of battling with week-long fad diets and no long-term results, I gave up completely and adopted a "as long as I'm happy, I don't need to worry about it" approach, frequenting Taco Bell daily and basically eating and drinking whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. That's what landed me at the new year at 173. Now I need to make a change. (My goal: 145 with a passably-flat belly by May, 2007.)
I've been keeping a detailed record of calorie intake (thanks to this incredible site!), keeping it down to my recommended 1279 fairly consistently, and slowly incorporating cardio and ab-centered yoga into my routine. I was doing great until yesterday when brunch, booze, and binging brought me to almost 5000 calories! I'm having a lot of trouble not throwing in the towel... I'm very bad at not seeing things as black and white issues, so right now I'm wavering between "eat NOTHING!" and "eat EVERYTHING!" ...but putting this into words and getting it out there has helped, so hopefully I'll be able to stay strong today and eat without going overboard.
Thanks for reading that whole rant - I really appreciate having this forum and watching everyone's progress together! Good luck!

it's really nice to read that there are others who go through the same things i do. (above) sounds like you're doing an awesome job.
as far as my weight goes. i joined this group at 161 a few days ago. after a hard weekend (being around family/friends that don't eat very healthy) i managed to jump on the scale today at 160.
I think i'll be in the 150's soon but as a rule i should maybe wait 3 days or so before leaving this group.

Well, they say a pound a week is good, right? Then at this pace, I should plan to move to the 150s club in oh....say.....seven weeks...so by March 5 I hope to move it up...or DOWN, I guess!! Anyway...glad to see that you are back, Liney....hello to everyone that just joined us this last week...now back to Monday and back to the grind~!!
The closest i've ever been to leaving 160 club is 161.2... I'm almost there !!!! >:D Gotta step my game up. I'm feeling the pressure.
HI! I finally feel like it's safe to be in the 160's club. I'm at 167.5 as of today. I love this site! It gives me a place to go where everyone is basically in the same boat as I am. Hope everyone stays on track and God bless...

I'm at 167 and I started on calorie count 12 days ago at 169.5. I thought when I hit one 160 it would motivate me to get back to 150 and 144 when I was on weight watchers but it never stopped my chocolate and snack cravings. All my work pants and jeans have become so tight and I was reluctant to buy new clothes but finally caved this winter. I needed clothes that still looked flattering on me despite my weight gain.
I still have issues w/ chocolate and good snacks but i'm really trying this time. It was great to see I lost a 1.5lbs this past week because the first week was a bit frustrating. My biggest obstacle is actually tracking everything every day. I need to make that my daily goal no matter how much I eat. The weekends are really tough but I'm trying to monitor my portions.
If anyone is good at morning workouts please tell me your secret to getting up in the morning. I have massive issues with that but I would love to do the ellyptical to have energy throughout my day.
I'm going to Miami this Thursday and I know I'm gonna feel extra fat in my tankini but my wonderful boyfriend isn't bothered by my weight gain at all. That is a good and bad, I know I won't lose him but he acts like its no big deal that I'm letting myself go. My plan is to make frequent visits to my favorite salad place that they have all over Miami. I wish my boyfriend would work out with me but he isn't health conscious at all so I can't force him to be. Its just frustrating he pays for a membership he never uses.
I really want to get back to 150 and I hope I can get there soon. I wear that curves sauna wrap that helps you lose inches in your stomach. It's actually great for the winter and keeps you warm. Please add me as a friend so we can continue to motivate each other.
