liz - just wondering how your doing on not eating after dinner?  I'm doing much better this week.  I had to up my calories because I found out I was not eating enough with all the exercise I was doing.  I'm doing better and the weight is dropping a little.  Hope it continues though the weekend.  Good luck this weekend.  I know that's the hardest for me. 
clp: Wed after dinner, I splurged, but I am back on track.  The only thing that keeps me going is that it works.  Have a nice weekend and stay with it now, that  you are losing!

Thank you, Liz!  I just wanted to warn you that I am going out of town next week (and also out of email range, can you believe that?) so I won't be able to weigh in next week.  But I'll be back the week after, most likely much fatter after my week off!

I have been doing so good the past couple of weeks, I may totally lose my mojo while on vacation.  I may need all of your encouragement to get back on track! 
Hi. Im 138lbs, desperately trying to loose a 14lbs. I want to drop from 10st to the magic 9st. Ive been this weight forever, im 5'6 so not over weight but absolutely hate my bum and thighs and have been in constant battle with them for 10 years, so this time im committed im going to do it. Do you find that as its only a little weight you want to shift and because your not heavy people dismiss your dieting and tell you its not necessary and so you give up?


yes yes yes! I totally feel like i cant be excited about losing 9 pounds because most of the people around me could lose that and then some. then i feel like a jerk. thats why i come here though...
Hey everyone,

so i've officially decided I'm not going to weigh in for at least 2 weeks, maybe even a month. Ive become VERY frustrated with my scale, fluctuating a lot even with consistent times and circumstances of weigh-ins. The other day it told me I gained 4 pounds in the past few days, however I know that's not possible. I've been eating at the most 1700 cals a day and working out every day.

So this is my plan: I will continue to go to the gym every day, burning at most 500 cals a visit. I will eat 1700 calories a day. I've started to take my green tea extract pills again, which I havent used in the past 4 months (and these months I have seen veryyy little loss) although I dont know how much it will help, and I'm also on the one-a-day weight smart multivitamin, to ensure that I get the right amount of iron and other nutrients I think I may have been lacking these past few months.

I'm hoping I'll see some results from this, and I'll weigh-in maybe in 2-4 weeks.
Alex, that's fine.  Whatever you are comfortable with.  Keep on plugging.  Sometimes a plateau persists for weeks.  Personally, I think that 1700 cals is too much.  I gain when I eat that many cals, never mind the workout.  See you in a few weeks.  Liz
liz - the reason i've forced myself up to 1700 is because many people have told me that if I eat less, my net intake will be less than 1200 calories, and that it will put my body into starvation mode. I dont want to put myself in that mode, but I still personally feel wierd eating this much. However, again, many many people on this site have told me that when I was eating 1400 and working out 800 cal a day that I was 'starving' myself - I think this might be why I hit a plateau?

Hi Liz... I would love to join your weight loss group. I am not over weight but could def. afford to lose a few lbs. Since I've gotten to college I've put on about 15 lbs and haven't been able to lose it. Because I'm not overweight everyone dismisses my weight loss goals. I don't want to be super skinny just healthy and toned. I have already lost 4lbs so far and have hit a plateau at 131. I am 5'6 and work out about 5-6 days a week, mixing cardio and strength training. I really need some positive responses and support from others, since I'm not getting any for the people around me I thought maybe joining this group would help me keep on track. ~In desperate need of some positive feed back~
ys324: You are in the right place.  We are all in the same boat and are all struggling.  Sometimes it helps to be accountable.  Weigh in is every Wednesday (I don't record in-between posts  on my chart). If you can even lose 0.1 lb every week,  you are ahead of the game.  And by the way, just not gaining is also an accomplishment, with temptations all arouind you. I am so glad to have found this group!  I am currently 134 pounds (having lost 6 already) and my goal is 125.  Like a lot of you, I am in college too and it is so hard to eat healthy when your roommates are binging around you... and the weekends are a killer!  If anyone has any advice, or wants to chat or whatever just let me know!
I'm currently 5'1, weigh 130.6 but one of my mini goals is to reach 120 :)

I've decided to only get on the scale once a week (on Wednesdays) now that the scale has started to jump wildly. Hopefully that will pay off in increased motivation and determination.

Gained half a pound but I consider that an accomplishment because I've been very disciplined all week and I'm retaining water.  Good thing the weigh-in's in the morning, cause I'm going out for dinner tonight!

I am going on vacation next week, so I am sure I will gain weight then.  Also, I will not have access to a computer.  Therefore, I cannot post a chart next week.  But I will update the chart when I get back and then post on the following Wednesday, so you all have a complete update.  Keep up the good work!  Liz
