130/120 Club?
If anyone knows of the proper topic, would you mind letting me know?
Thank you :)
Cris - tell me about it. I have TWO bras. That's it. I have five sports bras but four of those have to be doubled up ;) So really... three. I have a skin color plain-o bra and then I have porn star sexy bra :) I can't justify spending so much money on something.. well.. I can't justify spending money on many things :) So look at you little miss I don't have to wear a bra and you have more than me?! Crazyness.
Oh my gosh everyone is posting at the same time, funny how boobs can make us want to get everything off our chest! sorry for the pun*.... anywhoo my name is Soraya, so I understand Rennai --- :) And I will take everyones advice and NOT weigh myself until next week...whew! thank you ladies ;)
Carrie - I was born in Kabul, Afghanistan and lived there until the Russians invaded. My country was a beautiful hippie town, in the early 60's/70's... women wore whatever was in style, and yes mod mini's! ;) It was westernized and more of a resort town for the British who would come and live off the land and be hippies. I remember when I was younger, how many flowers and mountains and trees were everywhere, music used to play constantly in the background, mostly Bollywood films. And fresh bread would be baking everywhere. After the russians were ousted the country went to civil war and chaos broke loose, people were terrified and fled. The people who stayed behind were unfortunately taken advantage of by the Taliban extremists, who are mostly from the Arabian countries, they came in, took advantage of a weak and empty country and threatened to murder, rape anyone who did not follow their order. Unfortunately, no matter how much people screamed Human Rights laws were being violated, no one listened. And we know what happened next. It breaks my heart and tears my soul apart when I think of the women, who were forced to wear the Burqa's - that is a Arabian cultural thing, not religious but the Taliban enforced it on Afghan people, and even killed women for showing an ankle! Sometimes I cry, out of nowhere when I think about it, which is alot. And I know it comes from watching such a beautiful place turn to rubble. What happened to my country Afghanistan is pretty much what happened to beirut. Beirut used to be called the 'Paris of the middle east' and afghanistan was, before the russians, the same. I just wanted to let you know about my country since, you said your friend is in one of those countries.
xo...Soraya
Carrie--I think it is the same shirt! But mine is black. I love it. I love that it's not totally fitted to your body--but also not too roomy.
Well, I've got some nice low-cut blouses which I don't dare wear wt/out a bra. So that's the reason I've got so "many". I should probably get a white one though but i can get away wt the skin color one.
At least they aren't that expensive. 36B is quite easy to find. So i pay abt $20 for a brand one (Jolidon is my fav one).
oh wow Soraya! what a beautiful name and what a touching story.
Soraya - I agree with Cris, what a beautiful name! Thank you so much for sharing your story. I was shocked to find out that Afghanistan used to be so liberal. My husband showed me videos a while back of what it looked like in the 70's and I agree whole heartedly with you, such a shame, espcially for you personally. Burqa's are the extreme opposite of what that country used to be like I hardly believed that the video I was watching was real. So, I totally understand the Paris of the middle east name for Beirut. I'm very sad to see what is happening happen. My old college roommate is not in Afghanistan but close to it (I'm not allowed to say for security reasons; not that someone would look up my CC info or anything but still). She doesn't have to wear a Burqa but a Corta (I don't know the spelling) and I am not sure if she has to have her head covered but her face can be seen as well as her ankles :) She once shared with me the aray of neck lines they are allowed to have.. so.. stylish ;) I think it's really awesome that she has such a loving heart to completely change her lifestyle for these people. So far the people there have been very warm and welcoming, I hear she eats lots of homemade food and dances at lots of weddings. Soraya, it's good to hear you are safe and that you remember the better days. Hopefully someday you'll be able to see it again.
Greta - TWIN!
Soraya- Thanks for sharing all of that, it's so nice to learn about the women on this forum outside of their goals with their bodies. At what point did you leave? Are you in the US now?
Oh Rennai...you and your egg babies and breast pumps! I'm telling you, the yogurt pump (or yopo, as the natives call it :) ) is the place to go. I had a delicious strawberry/chocolate/cold on a hot, humid day treat for only 65 calories (and $1.25!) Can't beat it ;)
Thank you Cris and Carrie ;) that is so wonderful that your friend has had warm and lovely experiences wherever she is ;) Rebekkah your welcome ;) I agree I love learning about people outside of just body issues and what have you... We arrived in the states, NY in 1980, I was about 6 years old so I remember it all, the riots that are going on right now in Iran, was very similiar to what happened there in the 70's after the Shaw of iran was assisinated, we lived in tehran when we fled kabul, and I also saw tehran go from a parisian town, of guys and girls in cool aviator glasses, smoking cigs at street cafe's to everyone wearing all black! it's a long long story, all my friends want me to write about it, but it's too emotional for me still. i saw a lot of death, that's probably why... but one day soon, very soon ;) I'll get it all off my chest...
p.s. I want frozen yogurt now Rebekkah! yum!!!
Soraya--Wow! You should write about it...when you are ready, that is. Where are you living now?
Rebekkah--I missed the convo about the frozen yogurt, but it sounds good. Where is this frozen yogurt place? Is it a chain?
Hmm, I should make my own frozen yogurt. I usually put plain yogurt in the blender and add fruits. Then put it in containers and freeze it.
Making another batch of Greek Beans Soup today.
Hopefully it will be sunny on Sat to go to the BBQ. I could use some fresh air and sun, TBH.
Welcome Soraya! :) I agree with the rest of the ladies - beautiful name and touching stories! Amazing! Agree too that when you are ready to do so, I think it would be an awesome book..in many different ways. :) Are you in NY now?
I too missed the convo. about the frozen yogurt, but agree and wonder, like Greta, sounds good, is it a chain or independent store? :)
I've missed a lot of chances to comment, just been browsing/reading lately. The convo. about boobs/sports bras..hehe...
Anyway, ladies, hope have a great day! Hope the weather is better where you are. It's been pouring here all day! Whhhaa! I am soo hoping the weather people are right this time that we'll have a decent weekend! I need the sun and a good 4th celebration. haha. My spirits aren't as high for the gym, so I need to get my spirits up somehow! :D
Well, take care..and ttyl.
~Margo
Sorry- I didn't mean to start up a whole confusing convo about this frozen yogurt place! I just googled it and the only one to come up was the one in chapel hill, so it doesn't look like it's a chain. if any of you ever make it over here, though...that's the place to go! I'm a major ice cream addict- worked at Dairy Queen for five years! I could take or leave most sweets, but ice cream I'll take any day. And it seems like such a social thing to "go out for ice cream." So this frozen yogurt place has saved me- now, we can go out for delicious frozen yogurt instead!
Chris- great idea about making your own!
As far as the boob convo, as Margo put it, I'm with Chris on the smaller side, but I've learned to embrace it! I mean, at least I don't have to buy new bras when my weight fluctuates! There's not much there to change! ;)
Leaving tomorrow for MA...another long day in a car, and then a weekend with a family that eats plates of pasta like that's all there is to eat. Oh well...they also grow fresh rasberries and blackberries in their backyard, so I'm just gearing up for that! Maybe we'll get some plain yogurt and try Chris' idea...
Margo, I'm coming to MA for the weekend and I sure hope it's sunny! You're right, though- there's a ridiculous amount of rain predicted for the next week! Saturday looks like isolated thunder storms- which could just mean a quick one, right??- but then Sunday and Monday look sunny! So there's some sun!
It's beautiful here...going to lay by the pool...I'll try to bring some of it with me, Margo!!
Margo - so sorry about the weather. What a downer! Alabama is.. well, really pretty. But VERY hot. and VERY humid. Bleh.
We're spending the 4th with Jaime's family in Nauvoo Alabama.. I don't even know if it's on a map it's so small. But they do have one restaurant called 'The Slick Lizard'. Maybe we'll visit it. But maybe I don't want to. I wanted to make potato salad and some salsa dip with tons of veggies in it and Jaime is pitching a fit about not liking either. Maybe I'll just make some for me. It's just not the 4th of July without potato salad.
Rebekkah - I LOVE ice cream. I think I ate it like three times last week. I try to stick with a small cup somewhere like chic-fil-a or sonic but I did crumble last week and got a blizard at Dairy Queen. Delicious.
Um.. ladies? I love almonds now. I bought a can of smoked almonds at walmart and I am obsessed. Now I can see why you can't just eat a serving. I want to keep snacking they are so good!
Rebekkah - Yay for coming to MA...though for both ours sakes, I do hope the weather gets nicer this weekend! :D Yes, pllleasee, bring sun with you! :)
Enjoy your visit here just the same! :D Where will you be...on the Cape?
EDIT: Got your email Rebekkah...:D I replied to it. :)
Boob convo. - haha, yeah, I'm on the 'smaller' side too. Nice way to think about it, Rebekkah, not having to fluctuate in weight....I'm trying to embrace my 'smaller size' too. :)
Carrie - have a great time on your 4th too! :) The Slick Lizard...hmm...interesting name, I think. ;)
Yes, I say, if nothing else, make a bit of the foods like the potato salad, veggies/salsa, for you :)
Yeah, Rebekkah/Carrie, I love ice cream too! :) I love sweets all around, as I'm sure you all know..haha..
Carrie, also, YAY for enjoying almonds now! :D So great to hear!
Cris - making your own frozen yogurt...cool. :)
Take care ladies.
~Margo
Margo - thank you for the warm welcome ;) I hope you get better weather ;)
I moved from NYC to LA four years ago, it's always sunny here but I sure do miss some of the seasons, oh who am I kidding, I've been spoiled with the sunny weather, I definitely don't miss east coast blizzards! BUT there is nothing, I am mean NOTHING like the East Coast ;)
Cris, I think I want to try that! it sounds soo healthy and yummy! Rebekkah I wish I was laying by the pool right now! with a frozen drink! Carrie, youre right 4th of July is nothing w/o Potatoe Salad, I gotta throw watermelon and corn on the cob in there ;)
I ran outside yesterday, it was nice but my stamina is not what it used to be when I would run everyday. I'm still addicted to my kickboxing, sometimes the songs in the DVD stay stuck in my head! Okay, have a healthy and happy day ladies....
xo...soraya
Oh man...so TOTM is officially here, but now I'm cramping so bad that the gym sounds terrible! I would think about skipping, but I leave for MA tomorrow and won't have the gym again until Tuesday, so I want to make it there. Maybe I'll go change into my gym clothes before eating lunch so that I'm already part way there...Ug...but hey- at least no worries on NO TOTM!
Soraya- NY and LA- what great places to live! And I imagine it's hard to run outside in LA right now- I guess it's hot to run outside most places right now! Ug! And corn on the cob is my favorite! And watermellon too! Good chocies :)
Carrie- I wish I liked almonds- every other food magazine I'm reading is on how good they are for you! So great job eating them! Do you know- are all nuts (or most nuts) that good for you, or is there something special about almonds? I LOVE cashews, but am not sure if they're as awesome health wise. So what did you end up deciding to make? And what is that salsa with veggies thing? that sounds great!
:) Thanks, Soraya. :)
Oh, LA, that's very awesome...I was gonna say cool, but in the context of weather it's not..it's more like warm and sunny! :D YAY! :)
I was in LA for Father's Day weekend....it was so lovely to be there! The weather was still nice (in the 70's) though there were some boughts w/ overcast/sprinkling of rain at times.
I would much rather handle hot/warm weather than N.E. blizzards for sure! haha. I'm SO hoping, as I said, this summer actually becomes a summer and soon...b/c before I know it, Fall will be here and then (shutter) the winter. :( I don't want the entire year to be full of rain, wind, and snow! GRRR! :( So...thanks for all the well wishes w/ the weather here. haha.
Sorry for my rant...it's just been depressing here lately.
Yes, 4th of July is potato salad, watermelon, corn on the cob...and hmmm..non food item, Fireworks! :D hehe.
Great to hear that you enjoy kickboxing as well, Soraya. :) It's a form of exercise I enjoy as well. :) Though my gym does the cardio kickboxing...it can certainly be a stress reliever...knock out that invisible opponet! :D haha.
Rebekkah - err...I hear ya w/ the TOTM...
Great now I feel guilty..hahahaha! I actually was telling my b/f Chris at lunch that I didn't want to do the gym today b/c of my 'friend' and suggested we catch the new Transformers movie instead...haha. He didn't want to hear that I was using my totm as an excuse to not do the gym...haha...but agreed to the movie anyway. :)
Hope you get to the gym before you head up here to MA. :) Good for you! :)
Yes, ladies, almonds can be yummy....as Carrie has learned, right? :) I personally love them....and I think that other nuts are healthy too, like walnuts and cashews are very yummy as well, just not sure of the healthy value?!
As for veggies salsa thing...Carrie, are you just having cut up veggies and using the salsa as a dip instead of something else (like ranch or hummus for instance?) Do tell! :)
I have a big jar of salsa at my apt....and need ideas to use it up! :D (Other than chips, which is one of my FAV. 'bad/cheating' snacks. :D hehe)
Ttyl. :)
~Margo
Salsa - I don't know exactly what it is int but it's super awesome. Each chipfull is like pure HEALTH! You know? It's got onions, tomatoes, black beans, corn, and something else... some spices I think. It's a balancing act to keep it on the chip but it's so worth it. As soon as I call my mom and get the ingredients I'll write it up!
Almonds, smoked is way better than plain I can tell you that. I was super scared to try them because I usually don't like new stuff but that first almondy bite was like... 'woah!'.
TOTM started for me too today. I didn't realize until last night that I had already taken three sugar pills.. I was starting to think.. uh oh. I'm relieved but still a tiny bit sad.
I'm teaching one make up lesson for a student who literally has 'selective mutisim' so she just won't talk to me or anyone who isn't her best friend or parents for that matter. It's getting better though, it's just a really quiet lesson minus the piano playing which she is getting better at.
Then! We have the 12 week old puppy appointment! Ya'll I'm so happy I have a puppy. I'm also so happy that I have two doggies now. I call them "The Boys".
Oh and I put it in my journal but I started another blog at www.herewegogogo.blogspot.com if you want to check it out. I just have one post so far but I put a picture up and I'm going to try to update it often with pictures of my life. I don't take nearly enough pictures so this will force me to do it.
Yes, Margo, I still have my other wordpress blog too but I needed to save the serious stuff for a privater blog :) which you are always welcome, all of you, to read.
Salsa - sound great! :)
TOTM - Yeah, me too..and I'm so feelin' BLECK! :( Cramps SUCK if I may say it! :(
WHHAAAA! haha...I'm still at work and have an hr. to go....:( Though I'm happy that Chris (my b.f.) and I are going to see Transformers II tonight. :)
Yay for puppy appt! :D Hope all is well! :)
Yeah, my Mom has 2 boy dogs too and I refer to them as 'the boys' sometimes. :)
Hope things continue to progress with your piano student. 'Selective mutisim'.....oh wow! Never heard of that before. :/ Aww..hope all gets better...and from what you said, it sounds like it is (even if it's slowly). :)
Well, ladies, have a fabulous 4th of July weekend ~ whereever you are and whatever you are doing! :D
~Margo
Oh Carrie..I'm so jealous of you and Your Boys!! I seriously think about how wonderful it will be to have a dog at least once a day. Gabe's family dog just died about a month ago, and they've been thinking about getting a puppy for a while now...I have my hopes up WAY too high that either his parents will already have a puppy when we get there or that they'll take us with them to go pick one out while we're there!! I know there only about a 1% chance, but still! And they're thinking about a Golden Retriever- one of my absolute favs- so my hopes are beyond lowering now!
Just back from the gym- wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. And Margo- don't feel guilty at all, I'm just trying to make up for the fact that I will literally be sitting stationary, not moving at all, for two of the next four days! So trying to at least be mobile while I can!! I've been listening to the 4th Harry Potter book on tape (reviewing #4 and #5 before reading 6 and 7 for the first time- I know, I can't believe I haven't read them either!) and I'm nearing the end...only a few chapters left! I don't know what I'm going to do at the gym once I finish it- running to plain old music will seem so boring now!
Carrie- checked out your blog! Looks great! Excited to read more!
You guys know how when you spend lots of time living with other women your cycles syncronize? While, I wonder if it can happen online...!

it's a fact if you are not using the Pill for BCP. So what we experience is pure coincidence. For 7 yrs I start the active pills on Sundays and I get TTOM after 24-25 days (on Tue or Wed).
SO much chit chat here and I didn't even get an email abt the updates. Ugh
My colleagues are off today but since I switched to the Romanian holidays I'm working on most US holidays. No problem since both me & hubby have the weekend off :)
Waxing appointment later...cannot wait LOL I need to get the Brazilian Wax again but I'm skipping the manicure today.
