130/120 Club?
If anyone knows of the proper topic, would you mind letting me know?
Thank you :)
Hello everyone I'm back! I had a super rainy vacation because i stayed in Maine (gah Margo at least its nice today huh?) My vacation was still fun as some of you facebookers may know...I got engaged!! i'll have to put a picture of my ring up for everyone to see.
Soraya, Welcome! I'm Danni, I've been on this site for about a year and a half and have been a member of this group for almost that long. I'm from Maine, but originally Albany, NY. What part of NY did you live in? I have to repeat what the other girls said and thank you for sharing your story!! I'm glad to have you on the forum now!
Like i said my vaca was rainy so it seemed like all there was to do was eat, which i did, but i jumped right back on board when i got home friday. I went to group power and had a 15 minute run. I also went running this morning. Only 2 miles but that is a lot for not running in a long time lol
I will comment more on everyone elses convo. I'm off to church right now, bye ladies
p.s i missed you all and couldnt wait to come back and tell you about my engagement haha
I missed the news abt your engagement ... soooo CONGRATS!
i just tried to upload some photos on FB but it gave me an error so i'll try some other time. We walked to my parents today and took some photos meantime.
I am trying to book a week in Vienna again. It's just 8 h by train and very affordable . So guess we are switching the plans a bit :)
Yesterday was fun but it rained in the evening.
I was going to get on and vent about my stupid reoccuring hip problem that won't go away, but running out of time before we have to head out...was going to just read the posts and write later, but wanted to say CONGRATS Danni before I go! That's so so exciting! I hope there's more of the story coming than what you posted already... ;) How did it happen? Were you expecting it at all? Details! Soon! Can't wait to hear more!
Hope everyone is having a good weekend! We drive 13 hours back from MA to NC tomorrow, so I'll write on Tuesday when I'm back!
Mornin' ladies!
Quick post for now...
1st off...Danni! Congrats on your engagement! How awesome! Yes, I agree, details, details! hehe. :) I'll have to check Facebook when I get home tonight and see more pics. and info. from there. :)
As for the weather, sorry to know it rained so much. :/
Rebekkah - Despite Maine's rain.....hope that MA was at least somewhat sunny for you on Sat. Then Sunday and today we have sun too, I'm soo excited! Though, as far as I know we're in for rain later in the week, though you'll be back home by then.
Again, despite the varied weather...hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend! :D
Take care ladies! Ttyl. :)
~Margo
Congratulations Dani!! that's awesome.. what a GREAT weekend for you. please tell us details... I recommend eloping!! jk. it's a lot of work to plan, but I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end. 4 months from tomorrow for me!! Anyway, so exciting.. now you have a huge motivation to get to the gym!! Believe me, I’m getting a little obsessed, it’s hard to take rest days.
I had some good news on the scale last Friday.. 137.4!! down two lbs finally! I guess being persistent is paying off. I've been working so hard the last few months and hopefully I'm finally seeing the results and lbs will start falling off. It's about time anyway.
The weather on the 4th was rainy here as well, I just stayed in and cleaned the house, then we went out to eat and rented a movie. I watched another movie yesterday and went grocery shopping.. relaxing weekend at home I guess. Back to work today.. I hope everyone had a good weekend!!
Oh and welcome Soraya, I’m Tracy from Indianapolis. My brother is actually in Afghanistan now, like Carrie, I don’t know where since he can’t really tell us anything, but I hope someday he can tell us about it. Anyway, welcome to the group.
Back to the "real world" for me today. Both me & hubby had the weekend off so it was nice.
Managed to get things done today and I'm still waiting for info both from Greece and Vienna. My hunch says we'll be going to Vienna though.
My weight is still in the 130.5 -130.9 lbs range so bumping the cals up to 1500-1600 per day resulted in maintaining. So, I'm lowering them slightly, in the 1300-1400 range this week. I'm moving ST tomorrow and on Thu.
I need to make manicure and eyebrows trimming appointments for Sat since we'll go to a baptism on Sun. Oh how lovely LOL I have NO IDEA what to wear and my paycheck arrives on Fri. Ugh. I'm seeing some stress by the end of the week.
Soo proud of you Tracy! ![]()
Congrats Danni! Yeah! Yes details and pictures :) And Tracy...yours is so close!
Yay Danni!!! I'm sooo excited!! :) I can't wait to hear all about and I'm going to get on Facebook pronto!
Fourth of July was very anticlimatic despite the good weather. We set off fireworks on Friday but not on Saturday and spent the night in.. kinda sad. Anyways!
I woke up early this morning and went running which was very spur of the moment but I'm extremely glad. 2.5 miles when I really wanted 3 but I'm not complaining. Then I found out I didn't have to work today since I'm filling in for someone on Saturday :) Got some cleaning done, and speaking of weddings, our 2 year anniversary is coming up so I got some work done on Jaime's present. The traditional gift is cotton and I'm super excited.
Yay Danni!
ok time for details!
We went camping like i said to a place next to the ocean. After we got done setting up he pulls a bottle of champagne out of his car (which was a surprise) I immediatly thought..oh my is he going to propose or something?...He also brought the champagne flutes from his parents wedding, but I didn't think much of that cause they had been at our apartment for a long time.
So we drank a glass and he didn't do anything, jut said that he thought it would be nice to have something special since we were just camping. So at this point i'm thinking I was overreacting because everyone has been talking about weddings lately.
After we finished the first glass he asked me to fill him up so i went inside. When i came out i was tyring to get him to hang some lights up with me, but he insisted that i come around the back of the camper. When i came around he was kneeling on the ground and in the sand he had written "will you marry me?" It was so cute
I didn't even cry though?! i was shaking though i was so happy!
soooooo cute Dani!! I got goose bumps when I read he wrote it in the sand.. what a great proposal. I did the same thing.. no tears but was shaking like crazy for at least an hour! So can you not stop staring at it?? Especially dangerous when driving. Ha. so happy for you.. he had to be so nervous while you were setting up camp.
Oh my God!!! Dani! That is the sweetest story ever! What a sweet way to propose... Congratulations, oh and Thank you so much for the warm welcome ;) I lived in Park Slope, Brooklyn before moving to Los Angeles. I'm glad I'm in the club now too, it took me 2 years to get to the 120/130 club! ;) SOOO happy I'm finally here
Tracy, thank you for the welcom as well, and I hope that your brother get's home safe and sound. I constantly pray for peace to all the people walking my homeland especically the ones that have pure hearts and pure spirits... so he is in my prayers along with the rest of the people there. So you have a wedding coming up as well?...You girls are gonna have to rub some of your mojo on me...I've not been dating for a while now and want to get back in the saddle, especially now that I feel that I'm getting back to my 'normal self' and weight ;)
Carrie, I'm with you the 4th was uneventful for me, I was pretty much chillin' and didn't feel like going out to parties and being around a bunch of people for some reason... so it was good for my diet! I didn't over indulge in drinks or food ;) Congrats on the running!
Cris, I would love to go to Vienna or Greece one day! Wow, sounds amazing!!! Your job sounds like so much fun! You must have an adventerous spirit about you.
Rebekkah, You run to the Harry Potter Audio Books? First off, I think that's genuis! but how do you keep the momentum up? is it really better than music? I"m sooo curious???
Margo, How has your Kickboxing worked out for you? I do Cardio Kickboxing as well, I'm on a budget and do an advanced DVD, since I've been doign Amy Bento; In the Ring (2months) I went from my 1 year pleateau of 140-145 into the 130s!!! plus I'm noticing my arms have muscles defining themselves better than when I was using the weights... Has this worked for you? Your body is amazing btw!!! ;)
OH okay so everyone was right!!! I should have never weighed myself while on tom, I am back down to 136 today and hoping to be at 134 by the end of the week, I hope that by wednesday weigh in with you guys I can be down atleast a pound... I didn't work out today but kept up with my workouts all wknd and ate pretty healthy and didn't drink much, but I always forsee a couple cocktails coming my way ;) I just got back from the Vitamin Shoppe (that place is dangerous! I spent way too much and will basically be eating ramen noodles for a week!) BUT I got much needed Herbs, Super Thistlene (for my liver/kidneys/detox...too much wine) and some Holy Basil which, since I started taking a month ago has helped me with my Cortisol levels and with my Blood sugar, plus got some Banaba herb which helps alleviate my sugar levels, I had Gestational Diabetes when I was pregnant an Diabetes runs in my family so I have to be very very careful... HOpefully the Banaba will help with my cravings as well, we'll see how it works this month... July is the Month! I feel it girls, I will break into the 120's by the end of the month!!! that's 7 pounds in 4 weeks! Gotta stay focused and keep my eyes on the prize - a healthier, slimmer, sexier me!
lots of hugs... everyone have a healthy and happy day!
xo..soraya ![]()
Dang Soraya! You're going to be in and out of this club in like no time! I'm amazed by your weight loss. And check out all the herbs and stuff you get, very interesting, I'd love to hear more about it!
Danni - What a wonderful wonderful story. Chamagne, writing in the sand, sooo romantic. Plus I finally checked out your facebook and check out your ring!!! I'm so excited and happy for you.
Ok, so I'm watching Dance your Ass Off and I'm having such a hard time between being very impressed with these people and then laughing my ass off because... I mean.. they are fat people... dancing. Is that horrible? I mean, I'm not going to lie.
Grocery shopping brought home turnip greens, squash, asparagus, and lots of fruit. Yay!
Dani
how cute and romantic!
hubby proposed...over the phone (first time he asked) and over SMS (right b4 he moved in wt me). He was doing his military service at that time.
Well gal, ENJOY being engaged!
AWWW...Dani, that IS so sweet and romantic! How awesome! Sooo happy for you! :)
I agree with Cris - enjoy being engaged. :)
Soraya - As for the kickboxing, it has worked out pretty good in the past. Though it's been a while since I've taken it. You're progress is awesome! :) Keep it up. :) Thanks for the compliments...though that 'back' pic. was taken about a month ago....and I haven't been to the gym in that time. Err... Yeah, vacation, holiday, totm...all awful times for me to keep up w/ my fitness. :/ Hmmm...though tonight I'm heading to the gym! :) Hope it all goes well..hehe.
Wow...about all those herbs...very interesting I agree.
Very awesome that you are going back 'out there'..:) Keep up that confidence! :) I wish I was more confident...it comes in bouts with me. haha.
Carrie - I haven't seen that show, but guess it kinda lives up to it's name then?? ;D
Yay for your good groceries. :) I have yet to do that...still waiting for the rest of bills to be paid. :/
Aww....ladies...all this talk about weddings coming up (Tracy), Engagments (Dani) and those already married (Carrie, Cris...)...sheesh...it makes me wonder when is it going to be my turn! haha. It's awesome to hear about though! Love love the details and am sooo happy for you all. :)
Where's Heather?
(huge hugs!!)
~Margo
Margo
you'll know when the right time is. trust me on that. 7 yrs ago when hubby moved in wt me i never thought we'd end up married (or together for so long). it just happened naturally.
Good news from my side: I've got the reservation confirmation from Vienna so looks like that's where we are going (Aug 17-Aug 21). WeeHee.
Stuff at work changed some -- I got some new European expert articles to do , which is awesome b/c I'm supposed to focus on Vienna and Budapest, two cities I adore.
Thanks, Cris. :)
As for your news, congrats! :) Sounds awesome! :)
I visited Innsbruck when I was a kid with my family for about a week for our 'family vaca' when I lived in Germany. :) It was one of the best vacas. :)
Hope all goes well! :) Congrats on your work too.
I've been to Vienna last summer for 5 days but haven't seen the entire city. Plus there were 8 of us in a group (4 couples) so it wasn't much of a romantic getaway. which we plan to have now :) I also hope to visit Salzburg (you know: Mozart and the Sound of music)
Just wanted to stop in and say hey to you all. I don't have much of an update though :) Today is going to be a long day and I'm trying not to focus on it.
Yesterday I went shopping and got two really cute tops for $14. I think if I treat myself to something like that every month I'll have a pretty good wardrobe :) I find myself recycling some things that I've worn just the week before so I'm running out of options.
All this vacation talk is getting me a little bit jealous! I wish that I could zip around the country like that. Looks like we're going to spend a few days in NC though *Rebekkah!* in a cabin and spend time on Lake Keowee. Should be relaxing if I can find a cabin that allows pets.
Hey there! Feels SO nice to be back and be able to check in. Yesterday was our drive back from MA to NC- made terrible time due to some traffic- on the road from 9 AM - 11:30 PM. WAY too long, but had some fun talks with Gabe.
Danni- what a great story! Thanks for the details! So did you start calling people that night, or did you wait until getting back from camping? Remind me how long you and your bf have been together? Had you guys talked much about getting married soon or did it come as a suprise? It's funny how you expected it when he brought out the champagne but then talked yourself out of it. That sounds wonderful!!
Traci- So exciting about your two pounds!! You've been so persistant and haven't given up- and it's really paying off! Remind me what your goal is?
Carrie- OK- educate my non-married self...what do you mean the traditional gift is cotton?? And what are you working on for Jaime? Are you guys doing something special for your anniversary? My anniversary with Gabe is coming up- 4 years (of dating, not marriage!) so I'm trying to think of something fun to do. We've never made a big deal of our anniversary before, but I think we're both ready to get excited over this one. I need to be brainstorming...
Margo- Glad you got some sun! Finally! We had totally beautiful weather in MA so I kept thinking that I hoped it was reaching you, too! It was a little cool- but such a nice change froim NC heat!! And great job getting to the gym tonight! :)
Soraya- Wow- those are great goals! 2 pounds/week was my general goal when I started trying to lose weight, and it worked for a while, but then slowed down as I got closer to my ideal weight. I hope it keeps sliding off for you, but if it does slow down, just kinow that you're still doing awesome!! And as far as book on tape, it was unintentional...I wanted to reread books 4 and 5 before finally reading 6 and 7, so my bf downloaded#4 for us to listen to in the car from MN to NC. We only got part way through, so I'd been listening to it at the gym ever since. I really liked it! I just got into a swing with momentum, and it just kept me really well entertained! It was also good motivation to keep going...I wanted to know what happened!! Back to music now, though...I'll let you know how it goes!
I was feeling SO good about weight at the end of last week before MA. Hadn't weighed myself in a while, but really felt like I'd seen progress. When I first got to MA, I was in a sweatshift and sweatpants...but within an hour of being there, Gabe's mom had commented that it looked like I was in great shape and had been working out a lot. So nice to hear! Then the next morning I went running, and while my hip was bothering me a little, I did 2.6 miles and felt pretty good. The next day I tried to run again, but my hip was bothering me more, and I ended up tripping because I wasn't brining my right foot up far enough with each stip (cuz of my hip) and when I tripped I totally messed it up. Tried to keep running, but it hurt to even put weight on it. Walked home and iced, but felt super discouraged. It's not badly injured or anything, I just hate that whatever is wrong is stopping me from running outside!! It's fine when I have the gym to go to, but when I don't, I hate that I can't do anything!
OK, sorry this is getting so long, but I would love if anyone has any ideas on this. The pain I'm feeling seems to start around my hip flexer on the right side and sometimes goes all the way into the middle of that side of my butt. (Sorry if tmi..) It started a few months ago when I started trying to vary my workouts, and I think I may have been doing the stairstepper too vigorously and too quickly and tweaked my hip flexer then, but I'm totally guessing. Anyway, does this sound familiar to anyone? Any ideas on what to do? I don't have health insurance for another few weeks, but I'm thinking I should try a doctor after that, because it's just not going away. But is just a regular practitioner going to know what to do about a muscle/tendon/ligiment/ thing? I feel like what I really need is to see a sports trainer, I just don't know where to find one...
OK, thanks for the venting space. Going to get back into the gym hard core today (the elliptical at the gym doesn't hurt my hip, it's just the impact of running) so I'm hoping that will bring up my spirits a little! Hope everyone is having a great day.
