130/120 Club?
If anyone knows of the proper topic, would you mind letting me know?
Thank you :)
i'm 5'5" and I am 130 after the holidays and I would like to get down to the lower 120's, but i am dreading the holiday season. what keeps all of you motivated?
rock on greta!!
in answer to jdoll:
i think clothes keep me motivated. i love fashion but was v. disinterested and bought almost zero new clothes in the past couple years. but now that i'm closer to the body i'm supposed to have, i'm excited about fashion again!! loving browsing for my new year's dress.
i also keep motivated by attaching goal dates to holidays, events, and birthdays, where i know i'll want to look good.
was at 130 sev. days in a row before i left for vacation. now that i'm back, i've been fluctuating between 133 & 131, so i didn't do too much damage! but i NEED to throw out the Christmas leftovers, get into te gym, and stop the "special occasion" celebrating!! (i've got an angagement party tomorrow, tonight i'm going out for my anniversary, then next week is New Year's...)
Check out January Slimming Minis to stay accountable with water and exercise and also do some fun challenges and make friends along the way.
Hope to see some of your there!
Hi guys,
I'm just joining this club. I was previously participating in the 130/140 club, but since I'm hovering around 130's (very high 120's) I figure it's time I switched clubs. Dont get me wrong, I LOVE the 130/140 club and there are some great people that are still in it, even though they should probably be in this one. But I thought, it's time for a change. I recently got back into CC after a 3 week break during the holidays. I haven't weighed msyelf in a couple days, but believe that I may have gained 3-5 pounds over the holidays. Ugh. But I'm back with a vengence today and will get back down. More about me? -- check out my profile. Nice to join you ladies! (Hi Heather, Hi Burnyh!)
I'm 17 years old, 5'8 or 5'9 and I weigh around 126 to 128. Some websites say I'm in my healthy BMI range but others say I'm underweight... I don't know which to believe!
Hi! I'm new here. 41 years old, currently 135lbs 134 (i lost one! yay!) and 5'7". I've put on about eight pounds over the past year, and I'm working really hard to get back to my "fighting" weight. I've started weight training and cardio again, and am really watching my daily calories. I'd love to see 125, but 128 will do!
I'm sure the holidays didn't wreak as much havoc as you think. I didn't tell myself no too much, and continued to lose--not gain. I even went on a week's vacation!
I'm checking in today somewhere around 125 pounds. On Saturday I was 124.8 and today I was 126.0. I almost don't believe the scale. I started at 137 in June. I only have about 5 pounds to go before I'm definitely done.
Welcome to the 120/130 club :)
Thanks for the welcome gretamarie. Unfortunately, I just weighed myself and my suspected gain was correct. I went into the holidays around 129ish and now I'm at 132.6 today. it's ok though, I'm sure I can make up the difference. It is that time of the month. I'd love to get to where some of these ladies are -- 125...that has always been my goal. I went to the gym yesterday, and am planning to go again today. I dont think working out is my problem, it's more eating unhealthy foods and drinking.
Stephanie, I think you and I are in the same boat. I'm about 5'6"-5'7" on a good day. I'm currently at 132, but want to get to 125. However, I'm a bit younger, so you'd think this should be easier for me. Hah, unfortunately its not. What's your fighting weight? Did you used to fight before?
yeah bri, i was not able to keep track over the holidays to the extent i would have liked to! gained about 3-4 lbs, but i'm shaving them down! greta on the other hand has been losing like a champ! shout out to greta, you're inspiring.
i'm thinking of changing my goal weight to 120. i'll really have to see what i look like when i'm there. and i'm not afraid of muscle weight if ineed to weigh more to be toned. but as of right now, i'm shooting for 120.
new goalpost- NYC in june with my girls!! i want to be tiny for all that shopping...and dancing :)
Brianneo-don't let those couple of pounds get you down. We've all had our ups and major plateaus...and we find our way out of them some how. I find myself giving in to some temptations that are silly--I ate a candy bar yesterday. Why? I have no idea! And, I drank a coke this week. Talk about 150 empty calories!
greta - yeah soda will do that to ya. Have you ever tried diet? That's what I drink to get my carbinated soda fix. It's generally calorie-less. =) I love that!!! It also helps to make me feel full or satiated if I'm craving something but dont want extra calories.
You guys are all aiming to be soooo thin!!!!! I love the extra motivation. =) For now, I'll keep my goal at 125 (my first goal was 130 so that's changed now). Once I get there and am able to maintain, I may move it. For now, I'd be happy to be at 125. I haven't been 125 since my senior year in higschool 10 years ago!!!! I did get close to it around my wedding though, 127 ish. But that's because I was soo stressed out about planning that I lost my appetite. My mom had to force me to eat. She was really cute. It was a big day for her, just as it was for me. =)
Here's to hoping that we have a good weekend! I have monday off too! =)
131.6
wow, i did not do well this weekend! moody pms-ing, "starving," working hard on the floors... ended up eating tons of greasy, not even tasty pizza saturday night (which gave me severe stomach cramps!!) then sunday, constant snacking plus mexican takeout for dinner. no gym. then no gym monday! ok, the bleak picture i'm painting isn't that much of a failure in real life, it was 2 days, and i had stuff going on that i'm proud of- laying floor, cleaning house, goodwill donation roundup. monday night i did better- the boys helping with the floor ordered italian, i chose to cook light italian for nick and myself.
so now it's tuesday ladies. i've already done abs this morning. will go straight to the gym after work, plus i have pilates tonight.
hope those who had monday off enjoyed it and that your (work)week goes swiflty!
I will re-introduce myself: 5'7" 138.2 today. Goal 130# by April 1 then I will re-assess. Last time i was on(summer) I was 129# give or take.
I have just completed my very first "bulking" phase in my quest for the perfect physique. For my bulk I was purposely eating over my calorie needs (but healthy), 120 grams of protein a day (at least) and lifting heavy weights religiously. Now I am ready to start my "cutting" phase for summer.
BTW I was a bit skeptical about doing a bulk but I think it has really paid off. I weigh 10# more than I did last summer but am looking almost as lean. I can not wait to see all that hard-earned muscle really pop as I continue cutting.
I am shooting for losing 1# (or less a week), eating 5-6 clean meals a day, still 120 grams of protein, lifting 3 days a week and continuing to bike to work 5 days a week. So I am eating around 1600 clean calories a day with one cheat meal a week.
for those that say they are stuck in a rut, check out my post on BMR and how much you should eat. I think that may be some peoples problem.
When i first joined this site I started eating 1200 cal/day and burning at least 1900/day and actually gained 15lbs in 4 months, I actually wasn't eating enough, my BMR is 1440 (this is the amount of cals i need if i slept 24 hrs) because i was eatting 240 less than that each day my body started eatting away at my lean muscle tissue for energy, in turn dropping my metabolism and causing my body to store everything I ate. Once I figured this out I upped my cals ot 1500/day. In three months i was back to 134 (and I didn't even have time to workout, i just ate more!)
Anyway finding out the min. you need and going from there is really important, you may be surprised how much you actually need to eat.
BMR x 1.2 (activity level) + (calories from excercise) - 500(deficit) = how much you should eat to lose 1lb/wk
me for example:
1440 x 1.2 + 300(exercise) - 500 = 1528. To lose 1lb per week I can eat 1528 a day (on excercise days)
on non excercise days i burn 1728 (bmr x sedentary factor) I cannot have a 500 deficit
1728-500=1228, this number is way below my BMR and will cause my body to start eating lean tissue (this was my problem before)
your bmr will change with weight loss/gain and can be affected by extreme muscle, extreme weight etc.
read this post I wrote to get a full explanation as well as a few really good sites.
