Thank you :)

Glasperu - Again...super cute puppy. :D yay! :D
Good job on the mulit and the hair/skin/nail vitamins...sounds like they work for you. :D My nails aren't so great either...hmm...
Heather (broadbent) - Thanks for the article...good read. :D
-Margo
Hey Heather, I actually have a subscription to Women's Health and I was reading that very article this morning on the metro. It was good motivation.
broadbent -- thanks for the article, so true. I always do better when my husband "mock spots" me. When he does this he pretends to help me lift the weights, he touch my hands or elbows with a feathers touch (or not at all just coems close). This reasurance is usually all I need to crank out another 2 reps when I thought i was previously done.
Hang in there ladies, the scale does not tell everything. Once again I encourage progress pics (you do not have to show them to anyone)
Note: If your lower back hurts (or pops) when doing abs (esp. weighted ones) make sure that you remain flexed through the WHOLE motion do not relax at all when you reach the bottom, this will result in lower back strain when you suddenly tighten back up and change directions (down to up or side-to-side). If it still hurts than by all means do not do weighted abs. Afterall the bests ab exercise is the "dinenrplate pushaways.'
I'm 4'9" and I weigh in at 132lbs now (down from 140)I work out on average 4 days a week for 60mins. When I started I was eating 900 calories a day and I felt full. Now 900 calories isn't enough. I know 900 doesn't sound like a lot but keep in mind that I am 4'9" in height so for me that was plenty of food until now.
My first goal weight is 120lbs My ultimate goal weight is 110-115lb My doctor said for my height I should be between 85lb and 118lbs
I'm getting ready to increase my calorie intake to 1100 and I was concerned that if I do that I will not continue to lose weight but I'm tired of being hungry and I need food. I think my metabolism has sped up and that is why I'm starting to get hungry all the time.I plan on adding more fruits, nuts, and veggies to stay healthy.
What do you ladies think? Will I be okay if I eat more?
I finally got to weigh-in today! it wasn't pretty but it's what I was expected.

I've had a rough road due to wisdom teeth extraction, but I have a new found passion for living healthy since I started my new massage job at the cutest little spa:-)
morisht- You will defiinitly be ok if you increase you cal intake. Your body sounds like it is begging for it. Since you really aren't increasing much you could do it in one day. if you were doing a big jump I would suggest completing it in increments of 100. Congrats on the weight loss so far! Good Luck
heather - interesting article, thanks for sharing!
Hi everybody! Just stopped by to say hello!
This is actually my fourth time on the forum today, just poking around, lurking...
I'm starting to get the impression that this place is my new procrastination device. It's almost as if I've convinced myself on some level that the more time I spend on the Weight Loss forum, the more weight I will lose.
Ridiculous, I know. *sheepish grin*
morisht - I see no problem in increasing your calories to 1100, infact, if sounds very healthy. I'm 5'7'' (almost a full foot taller than you!) and I eat anywhere from 1200-1600 depending on the day etc. I think that we all have those low calorie days when you just aren't that hungry or are too busy to eat much, but I'm finding out that I am safe to splurge some on my cheat days.
At first I was pretty strickt about what I was eating and now, like.. today for instance, I had a hot dog for lunch (a suprise visit from my husband.. I was going to have brocolli and some yogurt and soup) and now it's almost 11 but we are just getting ready to have dinner (late night) but since it's my splurge day I'm just deciding to not even worry about it. Is this making sense? I guess the gist of what I'm saying is that I think it's actually more healthy (in a way) to eat the bad stuff every once in a while, your body starts thinking... oh I am normal. Huh.
I'm happy to say that even if my weight has been angry with me by a few pounds these past two weeks, blasted TOTM, that my tummy has never been so rock hard before, I mean... ROCK HARD. Isn't that nice to say? AND the back of my thighs are starting to show that little lump that will someday become a nicely defined muscle. This is big news to the girl who always had stick thin legs.
One more thing and I'll shut up. I never liked my legs because my knees stick out, like there is fat around them, so they don't look shapley if you know what I mean, and my mother's legs are the same way and I thought.. oh man that is one of those things that I am going to just have to deal with (like the turkey neck
) but I've noticed that it has began to tone down some as well! So I'm pretty excited. Jen I really need to take pictures, I hope I'm not too late to start charting it. Here's to that bikini!
Thanks for all thee advice ladies.
I do feel better about my intake. My body is not use to this kind of work out routine and now that I am burning calories I see its time to increase my calories.
I am a little strict with what I eat and I try to eat healthy all the time. I find it difficult to splurge sometimes because I end up feeling like crap afterwards and that is no fun.
I totally understand your love/hate relationship with your legs (simignonne). I have the opposite relationship with my legs. I've always had muscular calfs and no matter how hard I worked out I could never lose enough inches in my calfs to wear those stylish knee high boots that everyone is wearing. I so would like to have a pair but it seems like the harder I work the more muscle I develop. My mom has had the same problem her entire life and she said I should just learn to live with it. I'm adjusting but it is so not fair! I want to wear the mini skirts and the skinny pants with a pair of knee highs too!
But I'm adjusting to that misfortune and learning other ways to splurge on foot wear. Any how after my weekly weigh in, I'm going to get me some chocolate. I don't know what kind but I know its gonna taste good in my mouth....
Thanks again ladies
I think I'm begining to find that splurging sometimes is also ok. I think I've said it before, but, a diet has to be one you can live with, or you'll gain it all back. I just cant live without applebees and sweets on ocassion!
I think I'm also feeling up because I weighed myself at the gym today and I'm down to 130.6!!! I've been stuck at 132.6 for at least a month, if not more. So this was extremely exciting for me. 5 more pounds to my goal weight, but honestly, If i just stay at 130, I think I can be content. =)
I say that now but, wait till I'm having a really bad day, and i may feel differently. ;-)
I'd love to join this group.
I'm currently 132 pounds. I keep going between 129 and 132. It's driving me mad. I also have a hypothyroid which makes losing weight that much more difficult. My UGW would be for me to get down to 126 to 122 pounds. I'd prefer 122 pounds but we'll see what happens. I just want to get out of the 130s for now. I just changed my thyroid medication so I may lose a few pounds but we'll have to see. It takes about a month for the medication to kick in or at least to see a change. I've also started working out again so I'm hoping that will help.
morisht - I am in the same boat with you with the calves. My mom has very big, muscular calves and I inherited them from her. I am not complaining though, I have learned to embrace them and the guys seem to love them. I get tons of compliments, but I do wish I could wear the knee-high boots as well!
blackned_wings - congrats on your loss! It is such an exhilarating feeling to see the numbers go down on the scale and see that your hard work is paying off.
Holy Cow! I wish I had this problem you guys are talking about! I can't buy those knee high boots because they won't stay up! My legs have absolutley no shape to them unless you count my knees sticking out :) You learn to deal though. Hey at least it makes progress look good when I can see some shape :)
Blackened Wings - Great job on losing! Can't wait to see if this sticks around for Wednesday Weigh-In. Good to hear you splurge too, I don't know what I would do if I couldn't have cookies and fritos (my ultimate desire in food). Yay food!
Joining the leg rant! I have long thighs and stumpy calves! They are neither thin nor muscular -- just big!! If I see them from the right angle when sitting on the floor I'd swear they were the same diameter as my thighs! Yuk! Thanks, Mom. I inherited all my bulky limbs from her. The good news is that it seems our DNA does have some potential for cute, tiny little ankles....when you're over 50. I'm hoping some of the fat in my cheeks will start dissolving then too. I just pray it doesn't slide down to form jowls! hahahaha. Cheers to all my chipmunk-cheeked buddies!
alysha24 - welcome to the group! keep us updated! ![]()
Chipmunk cheeks? Yes I have them! :) I don't have a calf problem, but instead have no butt to speak about....anyone know of any butt-plumping exercises? Ate way too much bread/pasta last night....UGH. Spaghetti and french bread...Ted made a fabulous green chile spread to put on the bread, and I just couldn't get enough of it. It is so hard to be good on the weekends!
Tell me about it! I was at a birthday party with drinks, cake, and cookies. It's a good thing those things are usually only on the weekends. Come to think about it, we're having hamburgers tonight... I'll be extra good this week then!
Alysha24 - I'm with you about the thyroid. I was on Synthroid for over 3 years and my doctor just took me off of it two months ago. I'm starting to think some of my symptoms are blood sugar related but I'll find out in May. I'm hoping my crazy two pound gain these past two weeks doesn't have anything to do with that, but I'm here with ya girl. Thyroids are well.. you know :)
I was laughing reading the last few posts, isn't it funny how the grass is always greener on the other side. I'm always saying how I wish I was a couple inches taller, but then you always hear people that wish they were a little shorter. but like you said simignonne I guess you just have to embrace what your momma gave you. :) I also have the chipmunk-cheeks!!
I hope everyone has a great week!! I started off bad this morning by hitting the snooze and missing the gym.. I guess I'll go tonight.
Joined this site today. Kept looking at the information for a couple of months and decided to join for the motivation from others to keep on track of my goals.
I am 21 years old. My job requires LOTS of sitting. I try to stand and work on things as much as possible to keep me moving. Sitting for such long periods puts me in a slow motion mode and for some reason after 1030 it won't wear off. So standing keeps me going.
I am 5'6'' and my weight changes like everyone else’s from day to day. 124-126. Two months ago I was at 119 before I started working out. I gain muscle weight fast I guess. Which is good and all but I need to lose that fat that hanging on to my thighs and tummy.
With this site I hope to keep myself focused off of eating unhealthy foods, snacking, and portion control, and most of all working out. I have always been an active person in sports since High School. Once I started college I found myself eating out and not keeping up with exercise.
I joined a gym 3 months ago and find myself there 4 times or more a week. But sometimes things get busy at home.
I have enjoyed reading the past couple of days entries and hope to benefit from everyone’s insight into a healthy living.
hi guys,
I've been a stranger to this forum as of late b/c i've been guilty of weight gain. I'm scared to step on the scale, but this AM, I weighed myself after the gym workout (and water consumption) and saw that I was in the 135.something range. Yuck. My goal is to get to 125 like many of you. anyways, I just wanted to share that I'm here, and still logging my calories in (mostly) and am working hard at getting back to where I was before.
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
