130/120 Club?
If anyone knows of the proper topic, would you mind letting me know?
Thank you :)
Hi Everyone! I just got on calorie count and would love to join this club. I'm somewhere between 5'5" and 5'6" and currently weigh 139.6. My goal weight right now is 132 but that's really a reassessment point. I'm hoping to drop my body fat by about 5 points and really tone up.
My major problem at the moment is that I hurt my hip doing Tae Bo and now can't run or walk stairs without it bothering me. I'm scheduled to see the doctor in a couple of weeks (the earliest I could get in) but in the mean time I need to find a replacement exercise that burns calories but that's not so high impact. I've thought about Yoga or Pilates, but I sort of feel like they don't burn enough calories. I've always been a high impact girl - played volleyball and fastpitch in high school and in college always ran or took aerobics for cardio. Any thoughts?
mhaskell - I too am a Tae Bo fan....I've found Turbo Jam to have less impact on the body... not so hard on the hips and knees, but can still give you great cardio, as long as you can stand the high energy "cheerleader" like attitude of ...I forgot her name. Anyway, I enjoy the videos, and she even has a strength training one that is great as far as lunges and squats with hand weights go.

Ok so I am not very upset with the scale this morning. In fact I'm rather suprised!
Here we go :) yay
Starting weight 132 in January
Last Week: 129.5
This Week: 128.5
I finished totm this weekend so I'm glad to see that some of that weight that I was up with was water weight. I was really nervous because I have come down with a cold or something like that and I have been eating my share of comfort food. Let's face it there isn't anything better tasting when you are home sick than comfort food. But I have to brag because the lunch I took for myself at work today was banana, strawberries, and brocoli. I'm sure I misspelled that but who cares?! I was healthy and sick today... now to chow down on the comfort for dinner
;)
For me:
SW: 143
Last week: 135
Today: 135
must.change.something.
eat.more.protein... in the am :)
Started (Jan 08): 131
Last week: 126.3
This week: 127.3(a little bit of a gain, but I know it is due to poor diet choses over past two weeks). I was soooo close to my goal and I know I can get right back to it, just need to control my cravings - damn cherry poptarts (love those frickin things)
wonderswhy - I don't own a scale at my home, I only weigh myself at the gym. This is good motivation for me to get to the gym and see how I am doing. I would be too obsessed with having a scale at home.
simi- i hope you start feeling better. I work in an office and colds/flus float around non-stop there, so with the first sign of a cold I load up on vitamin C and emergen-c - seems to work for me
morisht - i do feel crappy on my cheat days, I try to remember that I do not need to get crazy with the junk food on my these days, but just allow myself a little something special. I also like to work out a little harder on these days too, so I can still feel good about my progress. Also, congrats on the 2 inch loss - it is always so motivating to see progress, makes you want to work that much harder!
kathleen - wow! congrats on the weight loss!
ok so, GREAT NEWS!!! i know this is so silly, but this morning I weighed myself and the scale said........129.8. I totally realize that is incredibly close to 130, but just seeing the 129 made me happy. is that crazy?
Not crazy at all! I can't wait to get below 130, even if it is only by a hair!
Congrats to all of this week's losers!
I don't think that calzone I ate today will help me get there any faster.....must.stop.overeating ![]()
So I woke up this morning feeling much better but I still have the frog voice and am coughing up nasty yellow stuff, I'm sure we've all been there. At least there are no body aches to go along with it.
Mrseric17 - I remember when I got below 130, it was like I had won the lottery! It's crazy how that little jump to 129 can make you feel like you are already ten pounds lighter isn't it :)
Collins - I don't know about those pop-tarts, I've never been a fan, but man... you give me fritos and we are eating the whole bag!!
Wonder - I often will not finish an entire serving of something if it's really big. Like last night I made mac and cheese, my favorite comfort food, but I only ate a little more than half of it. Just because it's there doesn't mean you should eat it. I struggle with that big time.
Good to see you ladies posted... where are the other women in the club?! Jen, Heather, Margo? Did I miss their posts already? I hope to hear from you all soon. I have a hard time updating at work, for some reason the computer there won't let me reply post, but I read all you guys say alllll day long, you are all such a motivation to me.
Speaking of which I need a new goal. It was 125 by April 1st, I got close to 127 but I need to rework it. I'll go super short term. My new goal is to be 128 or less by weigh in next week. My weight moves so slowly surely we can do this half a pound thing.
simi
I know weigh in was yesterday.
SW:134
LW: 131.8
CW:129.8
GW:117
:]
so definitely up this week. but i will overcome. 128.2. work's been a bear, plus family parties last weekend, plus period, plus cold.
simignonne- i've got the cold too, blech, for some reason it said, "feed me potato rolls and oatmeal cookies!" and "let's lay down, not go to the gym!" i hope you feel better soon and good job on the fresh fruits & veggies, i bet that will help you recover quicker too!
wonderswhy- if you think you may become obsessed w/ it, maybe you should stay away from buying a scale and just guage by your clothes. i love that you are being watchful of keeping yourself mentally healthy b/c it is too easy to let dieting thoughts take over one's life. in my case, i've gained when i didn't have a scale to keep me in check and let me know, ok, 5 lbs over median weight, maybe this isn't fluctuation, maybe you should step it up at the gym or cut out some treats. (i didn't have a gym membership anymore and that was where i weighed). w/out a scale i didn't notice how out of control things had gotten until i woke up 20lbs heavier! but that was the case before i tossed out my looser jeans. so maybe instead of buying a scale, toss out your roomier jeans so you will notice gain in your clothes.
you guys being here are really helping me not be terribly worried about this gain. i can get back on track. even though i'm discouraged, how can diet and exercise fall by the wayside when i know you guys are all here doing the same healthy stuff, i want to stay a part of the group and keep it up too!
SW-134
CW-132.4:)
BTW, why is it that so many of the DVD ladies are WAY too hyper and "cheerleader" like as you put it? Maybe I'm a little sadistic or something, but I want someone to yell at me through the TV to do just one more rep/set or pick up a heavier weight or something. At least just show me how to do the exercise and not add commentary like "ooh, that feels nice" or "wow, that was tough" as though they, who aren't sweating and have probably taken 20 editing breaks, are tired.
mhaskell - it's funny you mention the sweating business...the people on the Tae-bo videos are sweating like crazy, but the Turbo Jam crew looks pretty fresh....even if Chalene (I remembered her name) claims that her video will make you sweat buckets. hahaha. I have a appointment with Chalene in about an hour btw...doing the 40 min body sculpting video with 10#rs....I know 10#s seems minimal, but I've worked my way up from 2#rs....10s still kick my butt...I push myself by thinking damn...these 20 #s are what I used to carry around everyday! CRAZY!
We cleaned out our garage yesterday, and found my wedding dress (2001)...and to my surprise, it fit!!! AND it was even a bit roomy! YAHOO! I was ecstatic....couldn't believe my eyes....almost fainted! :)
Hope all you sickies get better soon. Oh, congrats, burnyh! Sounds like a great moment.
I just want to share a moment of triumph from last night. After a month of stationary bicycling (because you get to sit while you exercise lol how lazy, I know), I finally jumped on the treadmill last night. It felt great! I powered through a mile and was still able to do some weights and a bicycle cool-down after. Sure, it wasn't a <8 min. mile, but it rekindled a umm, well I wouldn't say love, but maybe general tolerance bordering liking of running. I sort of wish I had gone for the second mile, but at least today I'm looking forward to running tonight (maybe even outside, in public). Anyway thanks for reading :D
That's actually one of the reasons that I like Tae-bo! They SWEAT!! And they're not always perfect. On the fat-blasting workout with the resistance bands, there's one girl in the back who almost falls over on a balancing move.
The other video that I really like (and is actually what I did this morning because there's not really any kicking) is the Women's Health total body workout. I forget the exact name. But they sweat too and the leader is kind of funny but really motivating for me. She doesn't yell, but she doesn't spit out platitudes either. And 10#s doesn't seem all that minimal. I haven't done the body sculpting workout, but if it's anything like the resistance band workout, those 10#s really will kick your butt. They do so many reps and in combination with so many other moves that it doesn't take a whole lot of weight to get a great workout and really make your muscles sore the next day. I use between 8 and 15 on a couple of circuit training videos (weight depends on the muscle group and the number of reps) and I always feel it the next day.
Congrats on the wedding dress!! I actually got married about a year ago, but I already can't fit into my dress anymore. Which is a major part of the reason that I'm on this site now. I had gotten down to 127 for the wedding, but with all of the celebrations, honeymoon, and then ultimately the holidays, I seem to have put it back on pretty quickly.
Hi Ladies!!! *hugs*
Simi - I know I've been away for a couple weeks or so it seems to me....so much going on...:/ Though thanks for the concern. :D
I know I missed the weigh in....
I am not sure if I should post b/c I haven't been watching too much of my eating and I haven't gotten to the gym at ALL this past weekend or this week. Tonight is the 1st time I will have gone for this week....sheesh! Pilates tonight! :D
I weighed in on Mon. and it said 136.2 (down just under 1/2 lb. from last week) and then I weighed in on Wed. morn. and scale read 133.8 I know that isn't right...it has be my nerves and stuff....cuz over 2 lbs. w/in 2 days is not happening w/ me not earning it w/ eating right/exercise...which as I said, I haven't been doing. Though at least the scale didn't go up on Wed.
I'm in the stressing time of figuring out what to do about moving out of my Mom's and into a place w/ my boyfriend....though b/c things are so crazy right now we are having difficulties making decisions of buying a house...renting a place..etc. Though the mrkt. is good to buy...we really need time to just be on our own (rent I say) b/c though I spend just about every day w/ him (at his parents house...) it's not the same b/c we aren't truly on our own. So, it's ready for that next step...
All in all, stressful lately and I know what I have to do to get back on track and honestly, know I don't need to be chided for lack of exercising, etc. Plus my t.o.t.m. is pretty much here, so that doesn't help.
Anyway....I just got to scan some of the previous posts to catch up...but haven't gotten to read them all yet. Just to say...welcome to the new ladies! :D
Keep it up and take care.
Hope to post again soon! :D

Hi guys! I'm reading to start participating in the weigh ins and becoming a regular participant in this forum again. =) I know weigh ins was yesterday, but here's where I'm at for yesterday: 133.2. Today I'm already at 132.7. =) On Tuesday I was at 133.5. So I'm slowing losing weight. I fell off the band wagon a bit (since my wedding last November) but I've given myself a new goal to get to 125 (or at least maintain a trend line below 130) by June 1. I'm excited, motivated and ready to lose that weight (again --- I got down to 127 for my wedding). =) I'm feeling good about things. Now the real challenge is tonight - our neighbors are bit of partiers and they're going away on a trip, so they want to have a party. There's lotsa snacking and alcohol at these occasions (which tend to happen every weekend), and I think these things are my downfalls. So tonight, I need to attend armed with resolve. I know I can do it. =)
