I'm looking for a 130/120 club, but I don't see any topics started.

If anyone knows of the proper topic, would you mind letting me know?

Thank you :)

chin up hbbroadbent!  I bet the gain is mostly water weight. I had a bad food weekend as well, but boy was it a great weekend! So this morning i was up 3#s once again.  I'll be snuggling my water bottle all day....

mrseric - I agree with hbbroadbent...if you say no to all your favorite goodies all the time just to lose a few, it's not a happy place.

welcome arose and pantaloons!

pantaloons- my hubby and I have been dreaming of visiting Italy in the next couple years....mostly to sample all of those pizzas and pastas.  mmmmmm....

Anyhow, back to the grind.  Lots and lots of water, and back to counting those calories!  Have a great week everyone!

Let's see where to start... Right now I am 5'6" 135lbs. I would really like to drop some weight, but more importantly just tone up. I have always been insecure about my arms because they are a little bit bigger, so thats one of my problem areas. The others are my tummy... Recently, it feels like all my weight just appeared in my middle area - not so much looking like a pot belly but its just all over. That's my focus right now. I have a gym membership and I have a been doing about a half hour in cardio about 3-5 days a week. I also have lowered my calories to about 1500 a day, but that seems to be a struggle. I have a thing for sweets so I am really try to limit myself. I am not sure if what I am doing is helping or what I should do, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Summer is coming soon and I really want to feel good!

Sorry forgot to post what I would eat on a typical day:

Today:

7:15 woke up (usually when I wake up, I am craving something sweet)

7:45 bowl of Honey nut cheerios with 2% milk

10:30 Fiber one bar (I usually need some kind of snack)

12:30 McDonald's Asian grilled chicken salad (I am not quite sure what I should be eating for lunch)

3:30 I am usually starving at this time. Usually have some fruit. Today I brought a bag of strawberries.

will probably be starving before dinner

5:30 - 6 dinner... tonight is Raviolis with sour dour bread.

Before I go to sleep I am usually craving sweets so I have been eating those Skinny Cow icecream sandwiches.

Okay now for the comments on what I am doing wrong or food suggestions! Thanks so much ladies!

arose - I'm sure I'll get fussed at for recommending this but it's what I do sometimes.  Every now and then (esp. this past week, you can look at my ranting the last few entries!) I have crazy sugar cravings. I want everything sweet and in my body as soon as I lay eyes on it!  To help myself not go too far over board I bought a bag of sweetarts, those individually wrapped ones.  That way I could stick one or two in my purse in case I start craving something.  Hey, it may cause cavities if I don't brush often enough but it's a whole lot  better on the calorie/fat side than a piece of cake or m&ms.  That is my suggestion but be careful because those little things can get addictive!

Also for average eating there is a really good saying (it's kinda dated but...).  Eat like a king in the morning, a queen at lunch and a pauper in the evening.  In other words... gobble up in the am!  and really cut back at night.  My fav. snack to curb cravings past 7pm is hot herbal tea without the added sugar.  I've been experimenting with REALLY herbal teas... some of mine look like they have little chunks of wood in them!  Well I hope this helps!

arose: it looks like a lot of processed carbs, the only reason i'm mentioning is I think you could swap some (not all! don't worry!)of that out (for lean protein & veggies) and eat a lot more food, which should help w/ the struggle to be satisfied on 1500. i'll offer some more specific suggestions later, but right now, Gossip Girl is starting!!!

p.s. i posted 3 bikini pics ladies. for some reason they are spread throughout my gallery pictures.

Pantaloon-  welcome!  I hear you about marriage, gained 8# of fat my first year and my hubby gained even more (we have both since lost it and some) but there is something about that first year.  Bad bad eating, lots of homemade cookies was our vice.

Mrseric – enjoy your cheat.  Nothing wrong with cheating (diet wise) as long as it is just that and not a lifestyle.  So eat up!

Hbbroadbent --  the scale does not know all.  So if you are still eating right and exercises I wouldn’t get too sad about a gain, it may very well be muscles.  I am actually up a pound since mid-march but down 2% bodyfat.  So f&#k the scale.  You bikini pics look great.  And I love your suit!

I actually did not get around to making my cauliflower mashed potatoes this weekend.  By the time I cooked for a BBQ and made my protein bars for the week I lost my motivation to cook.  It was so pretty outside and I wanted to work in the yard ( I am trying to get my garden in).  I still plan to do them and will be sure to say what I think of ‘em when I do.

Arose-  BTW:  You are crazy, your arms do not look big. Your cals and cardio looks good.  But lifting heavy weights and eating more protein is what I would recommend (as Simi said I would).  I love the McDonalds Asian chicken salad, very yummy and pretty good for you, lots of protein.

Personally I think your diet is high on the carbs, (low on good fats but possibly high on Saturated fats) being low on protein but high on carbs will make you hungry and hard to make your calorie deficit for the day.  I would recommend entering everything into cc for a few weeks and see what your macros are (protein/carb/fat ratio).  This will help you change things accordingly.

I also recommend carb tapering in the evenings… So if you are going to do sweets they should be before a workout or first thing in the morning, so they do the least damage.  If you really want something sweet before bed a protein shake an often take off the edge.  (and they come in chocolate)  I am also a big fan of tea in the evening like simi to help curb the midnight snacking beast.  I also have one or two sugar free mints during the day.  They are sweet and help signify to me the end of a meal, so I do not keep eating.

Thanks for all your thoughts and advice.

I definitely agree with Jredig on eating more protein and lifting! I am going to try that out... What kind of things do you guys eat for lunch? Do you prepare this the night before?

And I have been keeping track of my calories for the past week. What exactly am I look for on the macros? What are good numbers?

Heather - wow on the binkini pics!  First of all.. your hair is short!  I guess I was so used to looking at the little picture that comes up next to everyone's posts as how they must look in real life.  Now that I think of it... my hair looks very dark in my picture but I'm blonde!  Your arms are starting to look very defined and what I find similar is that both of our tummies are starting to have those up and down definitions and (like Jen said earlier) what we need to work on are the side to side ones!  Maybe when we are five pounds lighter eh?

arose - for lunch during the week I pack something and take it to work.  Usually I buy a baked chicken at the supermarket (around 7 bucks) and I cut it up on Sunday evening or so and take about a breast's worth or half for lunch (leave the rest in the fridge at home for the next day) along with a tupperwear container (1 cup or more) of veggies.  I heat these up in the mic at work and voila!  (That is second lunch) First lunch is a peanut butter sandwich or a banana or apple or some other easily packed non refridged stuff :)  I'm totally like you, I want to eat all the time!  But if I pack enough chicken and fruits and veggies it means I get to eat double for the same amount of calories as something else.  Weekends are a much different story, I'm not even going to go there!

I boil up a bunch of chicken and pack in in tuperware with some sort of veggie and use a vriety of sauces, herbs  (Mrs Dash, terriyaki etc).  I then add a little water to the container and   I then microwave it at work, 3 minutes makes perfectly steamed veggies and  the chicken warm.   So I eat chicken and veggie severyday but with different flavors and different veggies.  I also eat an apple, protein bar, .5 cup oatbran and a protein shake while at work too.  P bar when I arrive (after my bike in) and oatbran before I bike home.  The apple and p shake are when I am hungry.

I posted a bikini pic.  I am flexed and can almost imagine that there is definition on the front of my thighs.  *sigh* Maybe in 5 more #s.  stupid flash washed everthing out though.
BTW I have my bikini pic set to private, so if you want to view it you have to add me.  (I think most of the regulars are added already, so this should not be a problem).

Welcome arose and pantaloons!

Hello everyone, I have been MIA, sorry! I am still working hard at my goals and  have been reading the posts, just havent been responding much.Sealed It seems like everyone is doing awesome!

Hbbroadbent and jredig your pics look awesome, you can look at mine, but now i'm kind of embarrased at how bad they are compared to yours lol. I still have a lot of fat to lose around the belly.

This morning i went to a chamber of commerce meeting on wellness in the workplace because I am on the committee at my work. We heard about all kinds of success stories and techniques for promoting wellness in the workplace, it was awesome! I was curious as to whether or not anyone here is on a wellness o rhealth committee at their jobs and if you have any interesting stories.

The business I work at is having a biggest loser competition. It is great that people are becoming more aware of weight loss, however I have become concerned that people are only paying attention to pounds lost and not HEALTHY LIVING...so, i submitted some articles to our monthly newsletter in an attempt to educate. I have to admit that I used a lot of advice and strategies I've picked up from this forum and the CC site. Thanks everyone, you've all taught me alot!!

Jen you can totally see definition above your knees, way better than mine, it's one of the things I'm working on, making my stick legs not look so sticky!

Danielle - Everyone has a hard time losing somewhere, and everyone has parts of their bodies that are more frustrating to them :)  Personally your tummy doesn't look that bad at all, you are even getting ab definition :)

Way to go everyone!

Check out all the hotties of the 130/120 club! hehehe. We have some seriously attractive women around here... and some pretty cute bikinis too! Cool

Looks like I'm going to be the last person to put up my pictures (pressure! haha)...which I still haven't taken. I promise I'll get my act together tonight or tomorrow. BTW, after dropping four lbs of water weight in a 24 hour period, I'm down to 131 this week.

You all look truly amazing!!!

everyone's pics look awesome. dmartineau1- i definitely see deep vertical ab definition lines, especially in your side pic! just remember, noone on the beach is staring simply at your belly button (like i know i do in the mirror!) they're seeing the whole sexy package. simignonne: regarding the hair, i'm actually getting a touch-up today and was thinking, do i want to post w/ my hair looking shaggy and brassy? what the hell, why not ;)

congratulations to me, i have triumphed over the draw of the pretzel jar at work! for some reason i was craving it today. i think food calls to food, and the more unhealthy stuff i eat, the more i crave, but i need to put my foot down and get my body back to feeling satisfied on my diet. (after my week vaca, plus additional week of bad eating/drinking)

dmartin: v. interesting about the wellness wkplace committee & ch. of com. mtg. anything of note to share? please tell! we don't have a wellness committee, my office is v. small, but fortunately i work with a fitness nut, plus his dad, the pres. is diabetic, so the nut can be militant about unhealthy snacks around. the pretzels are a lingering vestige of the grandma who recently passed. she kept 2 jars stocked w/ cheetos & pretzels. sometimes i think at lunch it would be nice to walk our yard, but i feel a little silly having them watch me, plus i'm often the only one here at lunch and need to man the phones. i've also considered buying one of those under desk bike pedal-ers.

wonderswhy- don't worry, I'm not ready to show the world (or our club) my bikini body yet...way too much flab still.  At least you're planning on it!  And I agree, everyone here is gorgeous and already have hot bods!

I am happy to report that my scale read 130 yesterday morning and this morning.  (This is my lowest weight probably in 5 years...)  I did weigh myself both times after working out and before replacing the water I lost--I sweat a TON during workouts--but I'm still pleased.

The thing is, I'm not feeling or looking much smaller, which leads me to believe it is mostly water weight and probably muscle too.  I still look really flabby.  I know I need to start doing weights (I do some but not a lot) for me to see the results I want.

P.S. Whoever it was that doesn't like her belly button, it's probably not as bad as mine.  Mine's been this weird, squishy hole for as long as I can remember.  I hate it.

You girls look great! Jen, you have really great definition. I wish my abs looked like yours. I don't think that's your imagination seeing definition at the thigs either :] dmartineau1, I think your abs look pretty good too. You can tell from the side pic that you're toning up too. And hbroadbent, you look so thin! (it is kind of funny that your pics went all over the place lol)

Ahh to be tall and 130/120...

Ok, ladies, the pics are up! But I did make them private, so feel free to friend me...

Yikes. Even in black my rear looks big. I ended up with boy shorts, because most bikini bottoms are cut really wrong for me. Who ever thought drawing a perfect diagonal line across something so round and so oppressed by gravity was such a grand idea???

Tongue out Alas, if only I could move some of that over to the other side and then up....hehehe...

happy wednesday ladies!

Ok, so a miracle must have happened, b/c despite the pint of Ben and Jerry's I ate AND the fact that I havent gone to the gym once this week yet....here are the weekly numbers:

S.W. 133.4

L.W.  128.4

C.W.  127.6

I dont know how it happened, but im glad it did!!!  have a great day girls!

That's great you still managed to lose!  Weight loss is a funny thing...I know sometimes after a semi-pigging out day, I've seen a permanent loss on the scale.  It's the best.

Ok, my weigh-in:
SW: 143
LW: 134
Today: 130 (this is the 3rd day maintaining 130 so I'm super psyched!)

I think my cleaner eating of the last 2-3 weeks (for the most part) has really been helping.  And I feel great too.  Now, if only I could focus on my exams...the first of which I have later this afternoon.  (What am I doing on CC??)

Good job mrseric17 and Leelee!!!! You guys are doing great!

Weigh-in stats:

SW: 134

Today: 131

YAY! I am still a little hesitant to believe it will stay down because my weight flutates so much... I guess I will find out next week if I am actually losing weight or just bouncing back and forth.

Happy Wednesday everyone!
