130/120 Club?
If anyone knows of the proper topic, would you mind letting me know?
Thank you :)
i am glad this group is here i have been between 132-130 for like ever lol, i gained 20 lbs at some point and lost the weight ... and ended up back here at 130 for the last year... currently i'm 132 and i want to be 115. i've never been there and i just wanna see the difference. i'm 5'5 so it's an okay weight for me. tho my scale hasn't really been helpful my clothes fit better than ever even though i gained 2 lbs recently. i am going on a cruise next summer and i wanna for once wear a bikini so that's the goal. i'd love to join in the weekly weighins:)
Welcome to the new members!! That's what we are all here for, losing a little bit of weight and being healthier.
I have to confess you guys we did not do our Body Pump class on Sunday. My husband said that he felt sick so we stayed home :) He treated me a few weeks ago with a sick day from working out so it was only fair. I also am trying to wake up early to go running but so far it hasn't happened. I'm horrible I know. Healthy eating has continued. This week we bought a pineapple and I had some for breakfast.. fresh pineapple tastes soo much better than the canned stuff. Tonight we are treating outselves to a steak dinner. I'm looking forward to it so much. Plus steak (with the fat cut out, well as much as I could cut out with out butchering it.. lol) isn't bad for you, actually has lots of good stuff (I'm a big meat eater!) We're having mashed potatos (those might not be good) and this awesome thing I've learned, sauteed mushrooms with spinach - miniscule amount of butter in the pan. That will go on top of the steak, yummy!! And if we have enough room in our tummies I might grill some veggies or corn. I'm so excited. I haven't had steak in a long time. It's been in the fridge marinating all night long.
I am not noticing my tummy poke so much now which is great. I mean.. it still pokes out above my pants when I sit or bend over but I think that is normal so I'm not disappointed. Do any of you run in the morning? Ingrid??? How do you do it? I wake up and think... oh are serious?!
Simi- You made me laugh.
I do prefer to run in the morning and I think that started years ago when I was scared that if I didn't run or exercise as soon as I woke up it wouldn't happen and I would never exercise again. Yeah, just a little irrational there. I've always been a morning person though, plus running sort of wakes me up before work. Well, that and my coffee. I don't think you're horrible for not getting up in the morning to run, everyone has to find the time and the activity that works for them.
Your steak sounds so good! What do you marinate it in? Yum!
Welcome to all the new people!
Um.. my husband did the marinate.. so I think it's a mixture of some Jack Daniel sauce and a little bit of soy sauce. :)
I am also a morning person. I actually worked the morning shift at Starbucks for over a year and loved it. So I don't have a problem waking up early, I love it, it's the waking up early to go out in the cold and run that I don't like so much. Was it hard to do in the begining? I think I could do it if it were a habit, and honestly it's really the only time in my schedule I could fit in running, which I want to do! :) My sleeping husband and cuddled up puppy make leaving the bed in the bedroom very hard sometimes!!
Well, the fact that you're a morning person helps a lot! Would it help to maybe only have 2 days starting out that require you to get up in the cold and run? That way when you wake up and don't want to get out of bed you can remind yourself that you have 5 other days when you don't have to get out and run. Sometimes I can talk myself into doing something if I know I only have to do it X amount of times. If you're a schedule/list person, maybe making a calendar with rewards if you get a certain number of runs in will help...
Do you have running clothes that are warm enough? I have to admit that here in so cal we don't have much by way of cold temperatures so I don't know what kind of runner I'd be in a colder climate. We don't know what cold is here!
If mornings are just too cold and too hard, do you have the option of a lunch break run or evening run?
Thanks for your insight! I will work on the calendar option, it would work well for me. Also only doing a few mornings a week would be great!
I have clothes for it, it just has started getting into the 50s and 40s in the morning and that's kinda a drag!
I wish that I had lunch break options.. My day job is working at a piano store selling sheet music (very boring) and I eat behind the counter, then go straight to teach piano at 3pm and I don't get finished until 8 or 9pm :) Well, that's only two days a week so I shouldn't complain. I just hate the idea of changing in the afternoon and then running, then getting back and having to shower and do my hair all over again.. morning seems more practical. I'll work on making out the calendar and use it this week and see how things work out. I'll update next week to let you all know.
(also, after Mon and Tues are over I'm spent until like Thursday trying to recoop from working 12 hours two days in a row, and just think, today I tried to bribe myself into teaching MORE so we could pay off debt sooner - which would mean we get to make babies sooner... very tempting but we're still talking three to four years here... :( )
Morning!!
Welcome to the new members! We'd love to have your join us! :D It's a very friendly and supportive group here! :D
Well, to get to it:
My Weigh In this morning....
- CW: 131 lbs.
- LW: 130.2 lbs.
Honestly, I don't see it as a total gain...I'm trying to pay attention to the 'trend' that CC has and it shows that I'm still losing, even with my fluctuations. :D
So, just trying to stay positive! :D Last night's workout went well...I tried to push myself a bit and it was good....though I certainly felt it...ouch! haha. With biking on the recumbant bike and during my circuit training program.
I honestly don't think I'll reach 129.8 lbs. or less by Saturday, my b-day, HOWEVER, if I can lose from 131 or even maintain that by then, I'll be okay. Trying to not be too overzealous in my wishful thinking..
Although, I don't think it's too much to ask, IF I stick with my workout program and work on eating healthier and cutting down on portions and cutting down on my sweets intake, then it's possible to see a few lbs. less by Thanksgiving..which is going to be a day I will need to save some calories for..right? haha. :D
Okay, enough about me...
Simi - Hope you can work on getting some a.m. workouts in (esp. since your schedule seems more busy in the evenings....plus, I'd imagine it'd give you a bit more energy to workout in the a.m. :D
Yeah, I agree with Ingrid maybe just committ to 2 days a week to your outdoor runs in the a.m., so you don't have to run everyday in the cold. Also, then maybe some of the other early a.m.s, instead of running outside, why not just commit to working out indoors? You wouldn't have to be outside in the complete coldness, but you'd get a benefit of the energy an a.m. workout can give. :D Just a suggestion of course! :D
Have a great day!!!!! :D
Good morning, everyone! (including new people!!)
My first weigh-in since I got sick at the beginning of October! I'm back at school and...well, fairly miserable! haha But the "good" news is that right before I got sick I booked plane tickets to go home for Thanksgiving, so I'm only going to be here for a total of two and a half weeks! (I feel kinda silly about that...)
Anyway, on to the numbers... (now that I'm back with my camera I'll try to upload some progress pics later!)
SW: 144
CW: 123.5
This means I have lost TWENTY lbs!
I've gone down about one dress/pant size, but I really don't feel all that different. I think it's because I have no muscle. I felt really great about that dance class I was taking, but I've been told not to do any strenuous exercise for the next couple months, so no more dancing...it's a little depressing, especially now that it's winter. Cabin fever, anyone? ![]()
Happy Wednesday!
Hi ladies! It's so much fun to see more activity here. ![]()
LW:127.8
CW:128.2
Not much change in weight except for the fact that 128 seems to be where my body wants to camp out right now. I've been doing my new weight routine for the past 3 weeks and I have to say, I love it! I've noticed a difference in my arms and so has my husband. Free weights forever!
Question for all of you... I've been hanging out around 128 for a while now. My birthday is in 18 days and I would really really like to see 125 by then. I'm eating around 1600-1800 (sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less) calories a day and don't see any change in weight. I don't want to go too low because I exercise pretty hard most days a week. Does anyone here have any suggestions or short term ideas (jump start your weightloss sorts of things, maybe?)? Anything that works for you guys?
I hope you're all doing well this week!
Hey you guys :)
Thanks for all the input about running. I think I'll start with my workouts in the am at the gym, that way I don't have to be outside. I complain about the cold weather, not the waking up early, so I'll eliminate the cold weather :)
LW: 133
CW: 132 :)
Waist: 26.5" up half inch
Belly: 31" down half inch
Hips: 38.5" down half inch
So I've lost one inch this week (I know it's the trend that matters!) but I'm pretty proud of myself.
Margo don't feel bad about your 'gain' you still weigh less than I do!![]()
Wonders - I hope you can find some sort of exercise that you can do, cabin fever isn't nice at all. O.o I'm working on a crazy quilt this winter to alleviate the cabin fever, even though I can workout.
So last night's dinner was pretty good. Broiling a steak isn't my favorite but it was pretty tasty :) And the mashed potatoes were wonderful! Today for first lunch I had a PB&J sandwich (I eat one everyday, whole wheat bread!) and my later lunch is spaghettios. But grilled veggies tonight? Perhaps!
Guess what!?!?!
I woke up early today and went to the gym and ran :) I'm so proud of myself. I also ran longer than I've ever run before. Five minute warm up, Five minute run, two minute walk, five minute run, three minute walk, and then ten minute run with five minute cool down. That's twenty minutes of running for all you math duds. My goal for next week is to up it by like... five minutes, do a 40 min. cardio instead of 35 (which is up from two weeks ago 30)
So I'm really excited. Really tired right now, but really excited. Our gym has a big room with a huge screen/wall theater basically and I ran on the treadmill watching cheaper by the dozen. It was wonderful. It really does help keep my mind off of running.
My weigh in for the week
SW: 133.5
CW:130
Great job SIMI! I was swimming in the am but I haven't motivated myself to do that in a while, its so cold out here in Maine:( I would have to wake up, defrost the car and try to squeeze it in. I'm not really a morning person. I just feel too tired in the am!
However, i have been working out this week and trying to cut back on my portions and sweets. I feel so stagnant with my weight staying at 130. I know i have a lot more muscle than i ever did and my face looks skinnier, but I still feel so chubby around the tummy!
Well I'm going to keep running and tyring to be good about eating, i eat too many sweets i think![]()
Welcome newcomers! Sorry about the negative post lol
Mornin' ladies!
Great job, Simi!!!! That's awesome! Keep up the fabulous work! :D I am not much of a runner myself...but I can imagine that goal you met is something else....keep it up!!! :D
Danielle - I hear ya about trying to do better with cutting down on portions and sweets...that's SO what I'm trying to focus on too and it's so tough!! Though, little by little..right? One step at a time! :D Example: Last night I went to the grocery store and though it is a little pricey for what you get - it's the convenience and the brand name I'm paying for - but I bought a pkg. of those Perdue perfect portion chicken breasts (5 in a pkg) with the Garlic and White Wine flavor. Now let me tell you - I steamed it in one of those Ziploc Zip'nSteam bags and it came out pretty darn yummy!!! :D I had it with some steamed asparagus spears and a whole wheat pita with some butter spray....not too shabby! :D It was all in good portions...THEN I did have dessert, but I had one of those Jello Devil's Food 100 cal. pudding snacks with a little of the Cool Whip Lite (in the Aerosol can) - WOW! It was SOOO yummy too! This was all after I went to the gym too! :D I did about 8-10 mins. on the recumbant bike, then about 45 mins. (including workout/cooldown,etc.) on the treadmill - though just powerwalked on an incline - while watching the TV that was on it. :D Which I love ~ it helps me in my workout...distracts me, but keeps me focused on exercising at the same time. :D *Sorry to sound like a product placement Ad from above..err..haha!*
Yeah, I've been fluctuating back and forth from 131-130-ish lbs. for a little while and it can get frustrating, but keep up your positive thoughts too, Danielle, with seeing your results in your muscle gain and 'skinnier in the face' aspects..etc. :D It alll adds up to great results!
Yeah, I agree..I'm feelin' a bit stronger too, but not seeing too much in the tummy area...that is really a negative side for me too...
For all you ladies though - We're doing SO well! Yeah, the holidays are around the corner, but you ALL are doing SO well ~ whether that's in particular lbs. lost, or muscle gained, or a new personal record for exercising, like running...;)It's ALLL for the good of your health....you ARE going to make it to your goals!!!!
This Thanksgiving and Christmas time with all their tempting foods, sweets, etc. is NO match for the progress we're continually showing...right? :D We CAN beat the winter blues, that are coming for some of us anyway...and if you live in a warmer climate, use that to your advantage and everyone ~ just keep at it!!!!
Look forward to your Weigh Ins for next week...and the daily posts as well. :D Ok..enough from me...haha! Have a great day!!
-Margo
I hear you guys on the "tummy" problem. Why oh why is it so hard to tighten up that area. I know I've heard "abs are made in the kitchen"...but do you guys do any sort of ab exercises? I do a little (pilates and some crunches), but am not sure it's helping. Although I do feel stronger in my "core."
I am a firm believer in running for tightening up your abs. Actually.. I'm a firm believer in running period. I think it cures just about anything. I guess I do a little bit of ab work in our Body Pump class, but you are right, abs are made in the kitchen. I'm not sure about the abs made in the kitchen though.. I've always heard that but my days after eating mac and cheese out of the box or my spaghettios etc. my tummy looks just fine. Explain that one. :)
GO RUNNING, it's great.
I am also a firm believer in running and weight lifting to see progress. The problem is that running is so hard on your body. My knees and legs hurt after running for a few days. I am going to try to keeo up with it though. When i was running 4-5 days a week wiht my girl friend i saw pretty quicjk results.
It's too cold around here to run outside now so ill have to stick it out at the gym.
Let's all get some good workouts and healthy eating in before wednesday!!!
Mornin' ladies!
Yes, I agree, Danielle, let's all get in some good workouts n' healthy eating before Wed. Weigh In. :D
I have to work off some of the 'birthday' foods n' such that I had this weekend...hehe. Yep, Sat. was my bday....and honestly, I feel like I have to hold on to this year, HAHA, 'cuz it's the last year that I can say I'm in my 20's! AGGGHHH!! haha. Yeah, I think next year will be hard for me to take....but I'm going to concentrate on the present time...and not dwell too much on the future.
Anyway ~ CONGRATS! to all you ladies who do run....cuz I know I'm not very good at it.
I prefer doing power walking on treadmill, with an incline, esp. during the cold months ~ which is often here up in NE! Though, I'm tryin' to keep up with the cardio. and strength training workouts too... Then goin' to work at doin' more biking outdoors in the nicer weather of spring~summer time...
ANYWAY! Hope you all have a great day!
-Margo
Happy belated birthday Margo!!! And try not to worry about the BIG 3-0 next year...I hear the 30s are now the new 20s. 30 really isn't that bad.... 40 on the other hand...(I have 6 more years before that happens, but I'm already cringing just at the thought of it). I try to make myself feel better by teliing myself in 6 years I'll be a totally HOT 40 year old! HAPPY MONDAY everyone!
Thanks, for the b-day wishes and positive comments, Burnyh! :)
Yeah, I hope that you're right ~ 30's being the new 20's and that you can, as you say, 'be totally HOT' at 40. :)
I know at times that age is just a #, but there are a lot of factors for gettin' into the 30's at this point in my life (possibilities of marriage, having a home of my own, kids, etc. ~ since I haven't ever had any of those things...)
Though as far as getting healthy is concerned...yeah, I hope we can all stay positive and be HOT and HEALTHY - hehe - for the rest of '08 and continue into '09 and beyond! :D
(hugs!) *Sorry for my cheesiness...hehe*
So i ran at the gym today...40 minutes on the treadmill (30 running)!! once i reach a point in the running, like after 25 minutes its like i could go and go. It's just getting the motivation to do it!
My goal is to do 4 day sof cardio a week, keeep me honest ladies!
