130/120 Club?
If anyone knows of the proper topic, would you mind letting me know?
Thank you :)
Hey you guys :)
Happy late birthday Margo!!! I agree with Mrs. Hawaii about turning 30. I mean.. I'm only 24 (not that old I know!) BUT. I'm convinced that I will be hot until the day I die. My tummy may not always be so flat, and my thighs and upper arms may jiggle but hey, I'm a fox. And so are you :) I'm looking forward to the face wrinkles of the 40s and 50s.. is that weird? Esp. since we are all being so healthy at a younger age we will turn out even more beautiful. Plus I hear you don't hit your sexual peak until your 30s or 40s and honey.. after the hot sex I had last night (ahem... my husband was out of town for a few days and just got back) I can't wait.
Somehow that all goes under happy birthday...
So I've made the big desicion to teach a few piano students at home on Wednesday afternoons to free up some time on Mon and Tuesday. Late nights are hard!
Yay running :) Hope that I'll be updating there soon!
Hi ladies!
Thanks, Simi! :D That was a great post! :D
Yeah, that's a more than fabulous way to look at aging ~ esp. at 24 y/o!
*Cheers* Here's to bein' foxy all the time! :D
Also, *hehe* yeah, physical activity doesn't have to just come in the form of the gym...*ahem* ;D
Anyway...
:)
Keep up the positive and uplifting spirits ladies! :D It does help!
Danielle - wishin' you the best to keep up with your running routine too. :D
Lookin' forward to seein' you ladies at Weigh In tomorrow!!! ;)
Have a great night ~ Ttyl.
-Margo
My weigh in....
LW: 131 lbs.
CW: 131.8 lbs.
:( Okay, so the past 2 weeks I've been fluctuating between 131 ~ to ALMOST 132, but I'm trying to stay on top of things.
Just 1 day at a time! :D
Last night I got my body composition done to show my results from that circuit training program I have been doing for a month...and overall I lost 6" and ~2 lbs. :D So, that's great! Most of the inches loset were from my hip area and then some from my upper torso.
So, just going to take that knowledge and keep on goin'! I look forward to getting EVEN BETTER results for this Christmas! I have to!! haha.
Well, ladies, have a great day! (huge hugs!!)

Hey you guys :) I'm so excited. This morning I woke up early and went running. This is how I did it.
1. I slept in my work-out clothes so all I had to do was get my shoes on and pull my hair back (and brush my teeth)
2. I made coffee but put it in thermos in my car for when I finished
3. I made cinnamon rolls while I took a shower
And you know what the best part of all of this was? I did my five minute warm up and a five minute cool down at the end but in between I did 30 minutes of running without stopping :) First time ever. I went for over two miles :) I'm in the best mood because of it too. I'm doing it again tomorrow, maybe not two miles, but I'm going to get up early and run.
No weight this morning, I had to have on clothes when I weighed myself so it doesn't count but I did measure myself
Waist 26.5" same
Belly Button 31" same
Hips 38" down from 39" on Oct. 29th
So a friend of mine has told me that she will eat only 400 to 600 calories in the morning/afternoon so that when her husband gets home at night she can eat whatever she wants and cook a great meal for him. Sounds nice but what do you guys think? I'm a pretty big fan of eating generally 1200 to 1500 a day and I don't really count my calories by meals, but I always figured that eating more in the morning is better, gets you started and energized and at night since you are going to bed and not going to be using the food you shouldn't eat a lot. Of course I make my splurges from time to time but as a daily habit, is what she is doing healthy? I mean.. the calories add up to the right amount but the timing... what do you think?
Margo and Simi - awesome results for both of you! Wow! Obviously your hard work is paying off!
Simi- Congrats on your run today. I can't believe how productive you were! What did your husband think of you sleeping in your workout gear?
I'm glad that you're finding something that works for you.
In terms of not eating many calories for most of the day, I find that it ends up setting me up for a binge later on. For a while I would try to be at 600-700 by the end of work so that I could eat more later. Now I usually am just over 1000 by 5:00 and I find that works better for me, especially when I run in the morning!
I didn't weigh in today or measure because I had a rough weekend and needed some time away from the scale. I did have an awesome run this morning though, 6 miles in 46 minutes. It felt great! I'm signed up for a 10K Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving next week, so I guess it was good practice.
Out of curiosity, how many calories do you find you need to eat to lose weight? I still cannot for the life of me figure that out and I'm frustrated and not losing much of anything (except my sanity).
I hope that all of you are have a fantastic Wednesday!
Ingrid! Thanks for your encouragement and hey Margo, I meant to tell you congrats as well, it sounds like you're doing so well!
I don't think my husband noticed, he was pretty sleepy last night
. But it certainly made things easier in the morning. I think tomorrow I'll wake up earlier and use oatmeal as my teaser for running. As long as my body feels alright with it would it be ok for me to keep pushing myself, I really didn't have a hard time at all with today, so tomorrow I would like to try for just as much or a little under. They say to give your body an off day, but with cardio I don't think that really counts, unless it's like.. marathons and stuff. I could be wrong.
As far as your loosing weight issue, one thing I've always though, hence my pushing myself, is that running is the best way to lose weight, and since you are already such a dedicated runner the only thing I could tell you is to eat less than you are eating now, perhaps as natural as you can get, or by removing one or two things from your diet, like milk, sugar, wheat, etc. to see if it makes a difference. Eat smaller portions, by just a little bit to see if that helps as well. And drink LOTS of water.
Mornin' ladies!! :D
Thanks for the positive comments, Ingrid and Simi!
Though I must say you two seem to be doing GREAT with sticking with your routines, esp. with the running! Keep it up!!! :D *hugs!*
My 2 cents...
Simi - I would imagine your friend eating 400-600 calories for breakfast and lunch isn't the best idea just so she can eat whatever she wants later at night, since I'd imagine it'd be best to try to keep up with a balance. It sounds like she's depriving herself during the day, just so she can eat more at night. Though that doesn't sound very healthy to me.....:/ Again, it should be more of a balance. Why not, try portion control, so that she wouldn't be depriving herself of eating the things she likes or missing out on a nice meal time with her husband, but also so she doesn't make things unhealthy for herself.
I agree, breakfast should be the biggest meal of the day, since you would generally be more active during the day then at night. Though I know things don't always turn out that way.
Another suggestion....why not prepare the 'good meals' ahead of time so that they can be eaten for lunch or dinner and if your friend wants to 'splurge' now and again with a certain kind of food, that may be okay, but it's more about porition control.
Anyway...hope that makes sense...
Ingrid - Again, in my humble opinion, how many calories you'd need to lose weight really depends on each individual - since the factors are about your own personal body weight, height and even age. CC does have tools to help you figure out (though yes, it's general, it does take into account the factors I mentioned) how many calories you'd need for you to lose weight, maintain...or whatever your goals are...
From what you're doing with your running and such, it seems like you're already on a great track for exercise. Plus, from the things I've learned, it is just generally more difficult for someone to lose weight that isn't very heavy....in other words, the smaller you are, the harder it is to lose. But, just keep at your routine and work on finding your calorie balance, chica! :D
You too, Simi! :D
I think each person has to find the 'right' exercises that work for them to keep them active. Example: You both are more into running...though that's not 'my thing' and I find that other activities like cardio kickboxing and interval/circuit training keep me going with exercise, etc. and wanting to push myself more and more.
Keep up the great work, ladies!
(hugs!) Have a great day!

Hi
Would like to join this group too! (I'm new btw)
116?(53 kilos) at 5"2, I'm a school tennis player and it's the holidays now so I've been able to exercise quite a bit... tennis 3x a week and gym 3x a week and currently I'm trying to squeeze in cardio 3x a week--> finding this really difficult! This is because I used to be a pretty fast runner and am not used to running without the pressure of timing and mileage so I tend to regard my runs with dread :/
Btw simignonne I am also looking to eat around 1200-1500! But it's been really difficult lately because my mum and sister have been baking almost every day ): and also because I get quite hungry when I come back from afternoon practice.
Tips anyone? (;
Hey slyq! Welcome, although you seem to be under the 120 goal that we are shooting for ;) I can tell by your height that you'd prob. fit right in with us! As far as the eating goes, I just try not to eat so much, and when I'm bored I tend to snack, so lately I've been going for water or tea. I found some decaf green tea by Twinnings and I tried it last night, not too bad. Has anyone else here had green tea? I heard that it's supposed to be really good for you but I don't know how, something about antioxidants or something.
Anyway, skyq, we do weekly weigh in's and measurements. We are also posting progress pics (which ladies, I have taken, and just haven't gotten around to putting them up yet :) That happens every Wednesday. Hope you stick around!
Hi everyone! Happy Friday! Didn't weigh in this week cause well, I forgot...anyhow, looks like everyone is still hangin in there...I have to confess that I'm guilty of "saving my calories" for the evenings. I can relate to your friend, Simi, cause my husband gets home in the evenings and is starving from work all day and looks forward to "heavy" dinners. I have found that when I try to limit my calories to 600-700 all day, I am absolutely ravenous by 4:00PM. Not good since I then reach for almost anything and everything in the fridge. So I've learned to either have light breakfast (cereal+fruit) then a higher protein lunch to hold me off till snack/dinner, or a high protein breakfast (Egg Sandwich) and a lighter, later lunch like a lean cuisine at around 1:00 PM. *sigh....then of course portion control at night. I have to admit that counting calories is mentally draining some days....some days I want to throw it all out the window and just eat what I want to, as much as I want to...then I think of all the hard work that I've put into getting healthy, and I remember how I felt when I was 20 lbs heavier and I then usually make smart choices. Ah the woes of clean eating.....and wanting to fit into them jeans...
Ooohh, burnyh, you mentioned jeans and that reminded me that I've been meaning to ask where you ladies buy your jeans? I haven't bought new jeans since I was 14, I thinking that it's about time to buy something that looks good on me - all of my jeans have come from thrift stores or are hand-me-downs. So where do you ladies shop?
Last time I weighed this week (tues or wed) I was 52 kilos flat or 114.7lbs... looking to get down to 108lbs by January, a 20.0 BMI so I can be quicker when I play tennis and as burnyh mentioned fit into jeans (I've always looked really bulky in them :/)
simignonne: http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=food spice&dbid=146 on Green Tea. Also, http://www.fitcysters.com/forum/topics/study- sipping-green-tea about how it increases fat burning capacity before a workout!!! (though it may just be one of those myths out there -.-) I'm a fan of green tea too just be careful with the sugar content esp of the commercially brewed ones. I live in Singapore so Heaven and Earth brand green tea is a favourite :~)
burnyh: hello there totally agree about calorie counting being mentally draining though the food log on this site helps! keep it up with resisting temptation
irothell: hey there~ are you an avid runner too? 6 miles in 46mins is really great stuff imho that's about the same pace as the cross country runners in my school who won the championship this year (: (though admittedly I live in Singapore land of very few sports people)
Btw I've signed up for the Standard Chartered half-marathon which is in a couple of weeks time too... anw good luck with the Turkey Trot!!!
Ingrid, I shop at American Eagle for my jeans, I either get a 4 or 6. Last time I bought a size six in the boyfriend jean and it's a bit lose on me. I have some lucky brand jeans that are pretty good but they are so old that I'm sure I've stretched them out to fit my body :) I love AE jeans, they have been the best for my body shape for years, so I think I'll stick to them. My sister-in-law is super tall and has very long legs and she get's levi's.
I like Luck brand jeans too. I have a big problem of a next to nothing butt, so lucky's seem to give me the illusion of a nice one. :) Happy Monday ladies...my goal for the next 3 days EAT GOOD to prepare for TURKEY DAY! woo hoo!
First off - Happy Monday ladies! :D
Welcome slyq77!
Also, I did more thinking of the issue (after reading burnyh post) about eating more at night b/c man in your life is into 'heavy dinners', etc. though I Simi mentioned this same thing too and I have to agree actually....
My boyfriend likes heavier meals and such, but it's really tough to figure out how to enjoy the meals he prefers and also keep my calorie intake in check. :(
Again, my weigh ins these past several weeks hasn't given way to much weight loss and it's due to my excessive amounts of 'sweet binges' that I have had and also with the sorts of things we've been eating for dinners (pasta, beans 'n' hot dogs, etc.) Though at the same time, my b/f wants those things for dinner, but he also mentioned to me the other night that if I want progress (other than exercise) I need to eat better. Well, that's REALLY tough to do, if he's off and on with eating salads or lighter meals or the nights he super hungry and just wants something filling like pasta....
What am I to do, realistically? 1 day he's fine with lighter meals, than other times he's not, but at the same time he seems to expect me to always eat better.....How can I do that unless we make seperate meals for dinner!? That idea is just ridiculous to me.
I'm not really asking for answers here I guess...just venting. I know that really no matter what he may want for a meal and/or what we decide to cook...it's really about portion control and about my own choices.
I changed my goal weights a bunch of times over the past weeks..and b/c of my slow progress, I'm thinking that 127 lbs. by my New Years goal is obtainable. It's really just about 4 lbs. from where I am now....but it's easier said than done.
ANYWAY! blah blah blah...haha!
Yeah...the whole jeans talk.....that is a great motivator! I have a bunch of jeans in varying sizes and love jeans! I don't have any high fasion/designer jeans....just classic brands mostly, like Levis. :)
However, Ingrid, I know you mentioned looking for jeans....well, though most of the brands are high end...there is a great website, truejeans.com, that you can put in your measurements and answer their questionaire about your body type and the site recommends (according to the info. you give) what jeans would look best on you. :D Check it out for the fun of it anyway. :D
That is 1 of my wishes...hehe...to be able to fit (and afford) a GREAT pair of designer brand jeans one day..sooner than later from that site! :D One brand that I'd love to try are LITM jeans (Little In The Middle). :D They are jeans designed by a woman in the UK ~ and they have a line coming out in early Dec. made in the U.S.A. ~ that are specificially for women that have smaller waists but bigger in hips/thighs/rear area. :D Yeah, that's me...hahaha!
ANYWAY ~ sorry for my babblin' ladies.
Great goal, burnyh! Hope everyone has a great Turkey Day!
Danielle - How's your running going????
Okay, I'll shut up for now. ;D Thanks for reading my posts as always, all. ;D
Ttyl.

I'm joining...
I joined a weight loss challenge in January at my gym and took off some weight. I love the way I look. I've lost a couple of sizes and I've toned tremendously. BUT...I've become certain I can see a certain number on the scale. I'm eating healthy, with a little indulge over the weekends. I've had to kick up my routine and I'm fine with that. In fact, I like the challenge.
The problem is with other people and their comments. If I mention what I'm trying to do, they freak and say I look fine (or worse).
I can say it here without retribution. I want to get down to 122. That's 4 more pounds to go. There, I said it!
Welcome 3kidsforme!
Wow~ keep it up! You sound like you're doin' great! Btw, we have weigh ins here every Wednesday (usually posting our Starting Weight and our Current Weight each week) then if you'd like we also post measurements on the forum and are all trying to keep up with posting progress pics on our profiles.
IMHO, I say, do your best not to listen to those people that are being negative toward you!
This forum is about positive support ~ so hope you find you're welcome here and again keep up your great work! :D This forum is about getting healthy and doing our best to work our way through that journey ~ helping each other in good and bad times ~ whether our weigh ins are really successful or not each week, whether we slip up or whatever the case may be ~ this forum has soo many positive ladies!! I love being able to brag about these great ladies and this forum.....hehe! :D
Anyway, again....welcome and hope you find the support you're looking for here. :D

Wow i love all the action on here! welcome Slyq and 3kidsforme:-)
On the jeans topic, I hate spending a lot of money on anything BUT jeans are one thing i will spend a few extra on. It is so hard to find jeans that fit well. I personally like american eagle and even abercrombie. I wouldnt spend more that 40 bucks on jeans of course. I have found that cheap jeans just plain old suck. ha!
Margo-my running is going pretty well. I did 4 miles (about 37 minutes) with no break on wednesday! I worked every day last week so i didnt get to the gym saturday or sunday.
anyway, this weeks goal is NOT to overstuff myself at thanksgiving!!
It's so much fun to see new people and lots of new posts here! Thanks for the jean comments, ladies. I might give American Eagle a shot. I have a pair of size six longs that was given to me several years ago that are way too big now (and have always been too long), so maybe I'll be able to find something there. I just have to get over spending $30-$40 on a pair of pants.
Slyq- I love running and just discovered in the past six months (I ran my first three half marathons) that I love that distance! Is this your first or one of many? Let us know how it goes! I'm trying to figure out which one to do next. I'd like to get my time down, so it has to be something nice and flat. ![]()
Hehe thanks everyone for your warm welcomes (~:
and welcome 3kidsforme! I'm new too and I can totally identify with others not accepting your weight loss efforts because the majority of the people I tell aren't supportive of what I'm doing and tell me I look ok too! But this seems like a really great forum I think I'll be sticking around~ Good luck with getting fit and losing those pounds!
irothell- This is my first half-marathon! So far I've only tried that distance twice at training and run 10K races on and off during the tennis off-season. Also looking to get my times down for shorter distances (10K and below) but for starters I'll be glad enough if I don't stop to walk at the upcoming 21K...
Weigh-in tomorrow? (;
