I'm looking for a 130/120 club, but I don't see any topics started.

If anyone knows of the proper topic, would you mind letting me know?

Thank you :)

Happy Wednesday ladies! Great to see all the posts! :D

Thanks for obliging with your name, Carrie. :D Much appreciated. :) I understand your desires to stay a little 'safer' without ppl. knowing your name.....better safe than sorry....:D  Though, yeah, I just figured, we've all been chatting on here a long while...and it was okay to call one another by our 1st name. :D

As for the meeting up someday idea - of course - I think that's fantastic!

I also, have to agree, I'm not a cold weather person either and Cali sounds WONDERFUL! Not only just b/c it sounds nice, but my Dad is in CA *near L.A. area* and I haven't seen him in about a year and am trying to figure out a way to save $ to go see him too. So.....if maybe if we ever did decide to have a '130/120 retreat' in CA, I'd be all for it! :D (Well, anywhere we could plan to meet up would be cool really ~ though warm weather IS a nice thought!)

Anyway, soo happy to hear all is going well with you, Ingrid, as with the rest of you ladies! :D Keep up your great work!

Welcome back too, Danielle!

As for my weigh in today, however....I didn't do it. Yes, I'm bein' a bit selfish I guess today. Sorry....Frown but I will post soon.  Well, I haven't eaten as well this week, and a really silly reason, but valid for me this morning, my apt. has no heat at the moment, so I was not about to get on a scale, sans clothes, to get an accurate measurement, and it's my t.o.t.m). haha.

Anyway, again, Ingrid, I agree, don't even think for a second that we wouldn't want you here while you're pregnant! This forum isn't just about getting below a certain weight...but getting healthy...and right now you're healthy...is making sure you do what you must to deliver a healthy baby in 9 months! So, I for 1, am here to cheer you on! So, keep up with the posts, as much as you can! :D

Okay...well I've blabbered enough already. haha.

Have a fantastic day, ladies! Take care and ttyl.

~Margo

Margo finally I was beginning to wonder.  That's really awful about your apartment.  My husband and I lived downtown last year in an apartment that was built in the 20's so no central heating or air, and we couldn't run the gas heater while we slept so I would wake up to freezing weather sometimes.  I can only imagine it would be much worse up north!  I wouldn't step on that scale either.  And hey, look at my weight, up a pound from last week, I know it was the mashed potatoes and I don't mind.

Dmart!  (and I know we know your name I just think dmart is so neat) Glad to have you back.  It's been a while huh?  I know what you mean about the parties.  We have a dirty santa gift exchange planned at our place and another friend of mine is planning a cookie swap.. It's going to be a great weekend :)  I'm going to make ginger snaps, only the ones made of molasses so they're really chewy.  Don't be anxious about eating right all the time.  Parties are great, and it's great to have some food you wouldn't normally eat.  Plus, if all you ate was healthy stuff you'd be super bored.  Oh and my sister-in-law made a chip dip that was really healthy called Texas Caviar it was pretty spicy though.  I don't know all the ingredients but it had hominy and onion and tomato and parsley.  Very festive and it smelled wonderful.

Ingrid - I'm glad that you're still doing the measurements, it will be fun to watch your tummy grow :) and then quickly shrink back down again ;)  Also bravo on your running, I hope you don't get too sick to the point where you can't, I wouldn't think you would though.  So Bravo to you!  And yes, I did drink my water yesterday, all 64oz of it if not more, and not all at once, throughout the day.  And the dizziness didn't start until 12 hours after my run. Still feeling a little off today though, I'm going to take things slowly at the gym this afternoon.

Carrie - By the way, sorry if I didn't mention so before, sorry to hear about your dizziness. :( Hope you're feelin' better!

Thanks for the understanding..hehe..about not weighin' in today. :D I too am sure my weight will be up this week (not only b/c of freezing apt. right now and t.o.t.m) but b/c I know I've pigged out on pie from Thanksgiving off and on all week!! HAHA! Err....

Glad to know you aren't beating yourself up for enjoying some of the holiday foods. :D

Those 'Dirty Santa' and 'Cookie Swap' ideas for parties sound sooo fun!!! :D Wish I could join you at the parties! haha. There isn't any real parties goin' on that I'll be attending this year like that......(humph! pout!) haha. Yeah, I don't have much of an exciting life these days..

ANYWAY!! haha.

Danielle, or Dmart..hehe... - I hope you find something you'd like to bring to your parties that is a little of both ~ healthy, but something that a lot of ppl. will enjoy. :D The salsa idea sounds good (along w/ the idea Carrie mentioned)....maybe you can bring some 'healthier' chips too....  I don't know about the ppl. that will be attending your party and their tastes...but I personally love 'Blue Corn Chips' by Garden of Eatin'. They are healthier than other chips.....but I guess it all depends...anyway, just my 2 cents..haha!

Oh...I know that you're supposed to be bringin' an appetizer, but I want to remind you of a 'healthy/goodie' dessert recipe anyway! :D I suggest the 'Spice' cake/canned pumpkin recipe from Hungry Girl. :D Probably making a cake would be easier

~ All you'd need is a 'Spice cake mix' (I think I used Duncan Hines brand) and a 1 can of canned pumpkin (like Libby's ~ but NOT the pumpkin pie mix....just pure pumpkin). Then mix those 2 ingredients together (that's it ~ no other ingredients needed) and pour into a cake pan or 13 x 9 pan (whatever you'd like) and depending on the container you're baking in - bake according to the box minus 5 minutes at 350 degrees F.

I enjoy it by itself....but it is pretty tasty with some sort of 'frosting' that makes it sweeter. Perhaps mixing up some confectioner's sugar/water for a frosting/glaze....or melt some white chocolate to put on top. Both I found to be very yummy.

Okay...well again, I know that isn't what you need, but if I can think of another idea for an appetizer....I'll let you know.

Just tryin' to help! :D ERRR...now that I mentioned that recipe I realized it's more 'fall' than 'Christmas'....err..well anyway...Embarassed

Ummm..I'll hush now. Embarassed

Good luck with your workouts tonight, ladies ~ if you've decided to that is. :D

Ttyl.

Well, I did weigh in this morning.....I was a bit surprised ~

  • LW: 131 lbs.
  • CW: 128.8 lbs SurprisedSmile

I can't believe it ~ even w/ my t.o.t.m. and all the pie I ate during the week, I'm still below 130 lbs! Whoohoo!

However, my 'trend' on CC, says that I'm about 130.76 lbs. but anyway, I know that I can't 'let up' now, I HAVE to keep going!

I think my ciricuit training classes 2 x a week and the ~30 mins. I do before the class is really helping! :D (We do both cardio & strength training. :D) Even the 'coach/trainer' for the class I'm taking said he could tell I'm getting stronger & keeps encouraging me to keep it up. :D

Although, I know 1 of the goals I really HAVE to work on is to drink more water ~ actually just to get enough fluids through most of the day in general.

Though I also want to comment ~ and back up a bit ~ last night my boyfriend and I watched the movie 'I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry' .....and it has Jessica Biel in it....WELL!!! If she certainly didn't make me feel so great about myself with her fit self & my boyfriend of course had no objections! haha. However, it got me to stop and evaluate (again) how much I really do have to stop eating so many sweets ~ or at least be able to keep myself in check ~ and just stay on my 'healthy' track as much as I can.  Drink more water, eat more fruits, veggies, whole grains, etc.  because if I don't, I'm going to keep falling back and never ever reach my ultimate goals! So, I know she's more 'atheltic' looking, but I think she's a good 'role model' to at least keep in mind to help remind myself that I NEED this for myself....if I EVER want to feel strong and look sexy ~ I have to keep at my workouts and HAVE to watch what I eat. Otherwise, I'll NEVER get out of my yo-yo cycle for getting healthy.

As for everyday & in person, I think my boyfriend is a good person to keep me motivated and reminding me to stay away from so many sweets, etc., since he's not as much of a sweets person, etc.   Also, again, my circuit training workouts have been going well & something to keep me going. I'd enlist the 'motivation' of my Mom and my boyfriend's Mom, but that's tricky b/c I hate to say it, but they are part of the 'enablers' I have in my life.

However, I also need the online support that you all here give to me ~ so ladies, feel free to ask me how I'm doing with my eating habits or my workouts...as much or as little as you'd like. :D

Okay..enough of my blabber!! ~ Again...Embarassed  Happy Thursday, ladies!

If you ladies want to call me dmart thats coolWink Barely anyone calls me Danielle anyway. My guy friends call me "danboy" cause im one of the guys, my girl friends call me "danni girl" though im not sure why, and everyone else calls me Danni. so, take your pick! lol My dad is pretty much the only person that calls me Danielle anymore and i think that's because he picked the nameLaughing

margo- You are doing so awesome! You definitely helped motivate me today. I keep telling myself that its ok i havent lost pounds cause im working on the shape of my body...well that hasn't exactly changed. I know that i have to eat healthier and i havent been. It is hard when you don't have all kinds of mula to spend on fresh fruits and veggies, but I need to try harder as well.

How was Chuck and Larry? I still haven't seen it yet, but it looks funny! I used to get discouraged by hollywood ladies, but now I also see it as motivation and a reminder that if you work hard you can have what you want.

i'm going to Group power tonight, can't wait!! I moved up from 14.5lbs on the legs to 20 last week and it wasn't that hard. If i do two classes this week (which means ill have to get up for 8am sunday!!) then i will bump up another 5lbs next week:-)

Carrie are you still going to your power class?

Yes I am!  Well, we haven't gone in two weeks, partly because of Thanksgiving and partly because we weren't feeling very well.  But we are starting a-new this week and I will be there.  Sunday afternoon's at 2:30.

dmart - don't feel like you aren't making progress.  You've gone up on the weights you use in your class!  That's huge progress!  You know what you can do to change your body/lose inches or pounds, it's just a matter of you doing it.  Same thing with you Margo, you guys know what you need to be doing, you've just got to push yourself to do it.

You guys are right about the Hollywood people, the more I look at them the more I realize that they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes.  Sure they want to trim down before the red carpet but none of them are perfect, except Jessica Alba, who apparently is litterally almost perfect (I should look up the proof, and yes they did a scientific study on it).

Today I thought about buying more sports bras.  I own four, but I have to wear two at a time because my boobs are all over the place if I don't.  I thought about people who are flat chested and how jealous I am.  I though.. if I had a flat chest I'd go to workout in just a T shirt, no bra at all.  How freeing.  I mean, don't get my wrong, I love my chest, it's just a pain sometimes.  If I don't get too sweaty during the workout I can wear them again just reversed the next day but lately my workouts have been ultra sweaty..

Just made a journal entry about this, but today I found out one of my best friends is pregnant.  And even though I'm really excited about it.. I got in a really sour mood about 15 minutes after she called me.  Sigh.. Ingrid you aren't alone!

Thought you guys might enjoy this :)  It's called the Fibonacci 'theory, or sequence' or something like that. I just know the guy who came up with it was Fibonacci.  They can also do the ratio on your face :) like.. distance from the tip of your nose to your chin etc.  Pretty crazy.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/156130 6/Jessica-Alba-has-the-perfect-wiggle,-study-says.html

Carrie, I totally hear you on the sports bra issue (and I fear it's only going to get worse for me). Yell  I recommend going to Champion's website.  They have some good high intensity bras.  I'm normally a 34C and their power sleek (I think that's what it's called) bra is great.  Sometimes you can catch them doing half off sales and then they're only 19.99.  As you start running longer you my also want to put vaseline along your skin where the base of your bra rests.  Just smear it on!  This definitely helps with chafing which is not fun at all!  I too wish that I could have smaller boobs - so much better for running!

LOL, this conversation could not come at a better time. My roommate (who is nicely endowed) was just teasing me about being flat (if 34B counts as "flat"...maybe not entirely). Tongue out Too bad my body doesn't seem to agree with running...then I'd really be thankful for it.

BTW, I missed weigh-in again this week. My life is kind of a mess right now (as I elaborated in my journal response to Carrie), and next week I'm going to be out of town, so I'll try to get my act together after that.

Eeek, finals stress!

Happy Friday, ladies!

Well, Danni Laughing, guess I'm the only other one (other than your Dad) that calls you Danielle, then..hehe.Embarassed Well, I will make sure to call you Danni, then. ;D

Thanks for the kind words too. :) I hear ya too about it being hard to eat fruits and veggies with them being so expensive! Err....I can't buy tons at once either, but little by little, we can do it. :D

As for the movie, I thought it was funny ~ though such a 'guy' movie a lot of the time, errr...no puns intended. haha. Umm..anyway....

As for Hollywood ladies being used for motivation instead of bittnerness towards our own bodies, etc.  *haha* I am trying to be more positive about using the image of Hollywood women to inspire me to be MY best...and not let it get me down too much, when I catch my boyfriend drooling over a picture of some model, like Alessandra Ambrosio from VS! haha.

Soooo happy to hear that you and Carrie are keeping up with the Power classes, too! :D It is one of the classes I find more invigourating during/after class...I feel strong ~ as it should make me feel, right? hehe. Well, keep it up!

Awesome that you're pushing yourself so much too, Danni, with upping your weights each week. I've used the same level of weights for a long time now, but now and again I do push things and up my weights during some exercises. Though, then again, some exercises I've learned I still have limits for ~ like still using a smaller group of weights when working my shoulders b/c those are done late in the class and my arms are so tired by then, I can't lift too much. Anyway....:D

Carrie - I agree with Ingrid - there are sports bras out there for both high intensity exercises {like running} and for being 'more well endowed' all in one bra. :) Champion brand sports bras are great ~ I'd check it out.  I bought one of their sports bras for high intensity in my size and it really keeps me in, no prob. ~ despite me being smaller ~ I'm more along the same lines as Wonderswhy. EmbarassedLaughing.

Yeah, I checked out that Jessica Alba article...*sigh* Aww-well...we just have to work with what WE have...haha! :D

Wonderswhy - Good luck with your finals and getting back in the swing of things for next week!  May I ask you as well...what is your 1st name?Laughing

Well, ladies, have a fabulous weekend! See you soon! :D

~ Margo

So, after another weekend of bad habits (drinking beer and not working out) I've decided to start logging my calories again. It's a pain in the butt, but it keeps me honest. When I was logging them I really did watch what i ate. I will still have a few drinks on the weekend, but will keep it in check better.

Is everyone else still loggin cals?

Happy Monday, ladies!

Dani - I try to log in my calories on here when I can.  Right now, I'm still doing that circuit training program at my gym and we're supposed to log in our calories, etc. from a preprinted worksheet. However, the trainer said it was good to use CC. So, keep up with loggin' in your calories! :D  Esp. now that the holidays are pretty much here..haha.

Yeah, this weekend I went out to breakfast on Saturday and had a big brunch. Then yesterday had a 'not so healthy' lunch ~ snack strolling through the mall shopping with my b/f.  Yeah, it kinda makes ya feel 'bad' if you 'have' to log in your meals and knowing that you may not have eaten the best. As you said, though, it helps keep you honest.

Well, have a good day everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend!

~Margo

Dani- I log my calories every day, especially now that I'm pregnant.  It helps me figure out what to eat for the rest of the day.  I also think I would undereat a good deal more if I didn't have the numbers laid out for me each day.  When I'm at work I keep CC open and then I log on paper when I go home and update in the evening or the next morning. Smile

Hey ladies! I need to dash to lunch, but I wanted to drop a line and say I have missed you all and am BACK.

Congratulations iroth on your baby!! what a blessing and what a big adjustment in your life. i love that so many of us in this forum are at about the same life stage so we can hear from people what's ahead and give advice to those not there yet. Nick and I have been talking more and more about "when we have a baby." ;)

so basically i have been going nuts with take-out dinners and NOT working out! well today is an official turning point. we just booked a trip to Puerto Vallarta with friends in May 09. So I have 5 months to get back in mexico shape!! (125 lbs and toned!) I've passed 140 I am bummed to say :(

Heather!  Welcome back!  I'm sure you'll get on track in no time.  We'll pass each other somewhere in the middle with you going down in weight and me going up. Smile Your trip sounds like so much fun and 5 months is a great amount of time to get back in shape and meet your goals.  Enjoy 125 for me!

I have the same problem, I was down quite a bit in the summer and working with a personal trainer, but with the economy the way it is I had to let her go.  As a result I gained about 12 lbs and I can't believe that after all that hard work I have gained wieght again!

My friend just found this site, its a free personal trainer with pictures, I have done 2 workouts on it so far, so we'll see if this helps!

The site is www.one80.com

Is that spam mail? I guess we'll find out.

So I've been feeling rather bloated again lately and all of the sudden too. I am trying to figure out what it could be, maybe it's just that my totm is coming on Friday. Though honestly I've never noticed it around my period before, maybe it's a new trend :)

Healthy eating hasn't been happening as much lately, esp. because we have been trying to save some money. We still eat fruits and drink tons of water, and I have two meals out of the week (at least) that are veggie based, last week was a soup/stew, and this week is stir fry and another night will be salmon, yum! So maybe that has to do with it, though honestly it isn't a drastic change.

HEATHER - What the heck lady! I'm so glad you're back though :) I can't wait to hear about your progress, just go run a lot, I hear that burns major calories!

dmart - you and your beer ;) Trust me my husband and I (especially he) can drink. The other night we spent $50 in liquor. And no that's not why I'm skimping on groceries, this came out of the misc. fund because we were out... anyways, point being. Dolce Amaretto calls my name more often than not. Don't feel badly, just count your calories like you said, plus I often cheat over the weekend, so I don't count my calories and like Ingrid said, I come under more than I go over, esp. on the weekends. The weekdays... however.. different story.

This weekend for example is a pig out weekend and ladies, you know me, I'm gonna love every minute of it. I refuse to feel guilty about anything. And in return I'm going to attempt to push my running up from 6 miles to 7. I mean.. I'll say I want to do at least 6 but if I make it to 7.. amen.

Dirty Santa swap at our place on Saturday (so cokes, and chips, and cookies etc.) and then a Cookie Swap on Sunday and pregnant Lindsey's house and you know them pregnant womens can bake ;) Thus! I'm making three batches of cookies this week. I think I'll start today, husband needs some oatmeal raisen love in his life, poor thing hates chocolate chip.

and Hey Margo :) didn't mention you in this thread.

Wonderswhy where the heck are you?

Oh and I just got a account at the one80 thing.  The only thing it offers is a way to track your bmi and body fat percentage that I haven't seen on CC.  Other than that... pretty lame?  pretty much the same thing only smaler.. much much smaller.

hi

No Im not spamming,  I really use the site.  I think that workouts are great, I find that working out helps keeps my eating on track.  I go to the gym every morning (even if its just ofr 20 minutes) then when I consider cheating during the day, I remember the sweat I put in that morning and stop myself.

Has anyone else here tried working with a personal trainer before?  I found that I lost weight twice as fast as I would have with just calorie counting alone.

I think I get all the information I need on this website and esp. from the girls on this forum.  Because of all of that I don't really want a personal trainer, I mean.. what is he going to say.. keep going?  I can tell myself that.  My husband on the other hand says they are prob. pretty good and he would have one if he could afford it :)  Opposites attract!

Hey Ash_walters. Are you joining the forum or have you been here a while? Sorry if i'm a little late on the hello!

About personal trainers, I think they are extremely useful if you need to learn which workouts and exercise routines are best for you, or if you have a hard time motivating yourself to workout. If I could afford it I would hire one for two reasons; to keep me honest, and to push me up to the next level when I don't think I can do it.

I counted my calories yesterday for the first time in a reeaaally long time. Supposedly I only ate about 1,100 cals. I have a hard time believing it, but I did measure almost everything i ate so maybe its true. i guess I need to snack more throughout the day!

Have a gret workout tonight those of you who work out in the evenings, and eat well!! weigh in tomorrow:-)
