130/120 Club?
If anyone knows of the proper topic, would you mind letting me know?
Thank you :)
ok, so I actually stepped on this scale this morning and I'm at 139.0, which is better than I expected!
trainers: I had a trainer before my wedding 2 years ago and trust me, I worked out MUCH harder with her than I ever could have pushed myself. But so hard I would feel sick and wanted to die. Guess who quit her trainer after 2 months? I did get more toned than I ever have been in my life, but because of the muscle gain the slow POUND loss was discouraging (silly, I know, but I was on a time crunch to fit into my dress!) I lost weight twice as slow. But the real goal is the smokin' body, not weight loss, so I know heavy on the resistance is a good way to train. I don't regret the trainer though because now I know what I am capable of, am very comfortable with free weights, and have a folder of workouts.
simignonne: I've never heard of a Dirty Santa Swap! Tell us more. I'm going to a cookie making day at my aunt's this weekend so wish me luck with sticking to my veggie tray, not chips, and only 1 of each cookie!
Happy Tuesday, ladies! ;D
First thing....Welcome back, Heather! :D and welcome Ash_Walters. :D
I checked out the one80 website too and started to sign up, but personally don't think I need it. I have CC and love this forum *agree with Carrie*.
However, as for commenting on a 'real face to face personal trainer' I recommend it for anyone that has a hard time sticking to routines, etc. on their own.
I've did a 1 on 1 personal training for a couple months (and we did a lot of 'circuit training workouts') earlier this year and it was great ~ I stopped after the 2 months, b/c not only was it pretty expensive, the trainer I had was leaving to go to PT school. Though, a couple months ago, I started with the 'circuit training' program that I know I've mentioned and that's very similar to a 1 on 1 personal trainer, except it is just a small group of ppl. and the trainer. I really enjoy it. Actually, my class for that is tonight. :D Whoohoo! I need it for sure today b/c I haven't worked out since my last session, which was Thurs. Err... Though, I can tell that my arms are becoming more toned and it's an awesome feeling to see and also find that my clothes are getting smaller and the scale is going down. :D
ANYWAY..blah blah..haha.
Thanks for the hello though in your thread, Carrie. It's appreciated. :D I love the Dirty Santa idea! I've never been to one of those ~ though not sure what your party entails..... However, when I was in college, I did go to a 'Pretty Panty Party' during the holidays. :D A bunch of us girls got together and we all had to write down our size and our name and then each drew a name and had to buy a pair for whichever girl we chose. It was a lot of fun. :D So...maybe in a way...that is sort of like a 'Dirty Santa' party...
Love the Cookie swap idea too! Fun fun!!! Have a great time! :D
Also, on your 'bloated' feeling....I honestly attribute that sort of gain allll to the t.o.t.m. I've found it to be VERY common. So, don't fret too much over it. Just remind yourself that most of it is likely water and as long as you don't overload on calories/sodium, etc. during this time, it should go way down when your t.o.t.m. is over. :D ;D
As for the rest of you ladies, if I didn't directly say hi..then.......Hi! :D Hope you all have a great day and hope to see you all here tomorrow for the weigh in! :D
Take care and ttyl.
~Margo
Dirty Santa is just a gag gift party but hopefully a little dirty. For instance my husband is bringing a bottle of homemade wine (I refer to it as 'hooch') that my uncle made and left behind at Thanksgiving.. it's pretty rednecky :). It should be lots of fun.
I'm still getting that crazy bloating feeling but Margo, you're prob. right, I bet it will go away after my totm. Frustrating though.
So I'm still a little sore from the body pump class on Sunday but I'm going to go running today anyway. Do you guys ever get that feeling, it's like a refreshing soreness? It feels like after I run tonight it will get all the soreness out of me, if that makes sense. My husband on the other hand says that two days after the workout is the worst for him so he's taking today off (he never stretches).
I made the oatmeal raisen cookies last night and they turned out pretty good. Next are the crazy awesome dark chocolate and peppermint cookies and my great great grandmother's ginger snaps :) I love Christmas time.
For those of you going to parties with sweets, be good, but have a great time, and don't feel guilty. I recently saw a forum post on here that said, why do you run? Some people were like.. I run to fit into my skinny jeans, I run for my heart, I run for my dog, well.. ladies, I run so I can eat!
I'm not having any dirty santa or cookie parties, but every year we do an ugly sweater party. Usually right before christmas or for new years eve we all have to wear those ugly christmasy sweaters or shirts. Like shirts with a huge snowflake in the middle or christmas lights all over. It's pretty funny and makes for some good pictures.
Carrie you just reminded me of something...last week i said i was going up on my weight for my group power classs, a.k.a body pump. Well last night i went up on every area of the body except the shoulders and biceps. It was really hard, i was shaking and almost couldnt finish some of the reps. I was expecting to not be able to walk today...i'm not even sore!!
Wtf is up with that? I mean i guess i'm glad im not in pain, but like Carrie said I want that "Refreshing soreness" I don't know what to do because if i try to go up more i don't think ill be able to finish the workout and might even hurt myself.
Well, I can tell you what I did. I went up on my weight half the time, had to go back down because I seriously couldn't finish the reps :). But what I do is I focus on the muscle groups and really pull or push with everything I have even if the weight isn't that much. I also make my movements fluid, no stopping or starting and that's a lot harder than you'd think. Like when we were doing the arm one while you're laying down (I have no clue what it's called) I think to work out your triceps.. well I kept on squeezing my elbows if that makes sense, it really helped me feel it.
I've seen some girls go to that class and load on the weight and just lift up fast and drop it fast instead of the fluid motion, make sure you work on one steady momentum. Plus if you're stretching really well then that should be a bonus for you! When I get to the end of the class where we do pushups... man. I can only do like one push up before I shake so hard I fall over :) (That's why I am in the back of the room!)
Good luck finding that balance, you'll get there. You may need to just up your endurance before you add more weight to actually make you sore.
Carrie - Thanks for the 'dirty santa' explanation. :D Sounds like fun! Hope you have a good time!
Yes, I hope your 'bloated feeling' goes away too. :D Yeah, I hear ya about it being frustrating. My t.o.t.m/with the bloated feelings I get make me feel really down....and I hate that!
I understand what you mean about the 'refreshing soreness'...it's that 'good sore feeling' you get after a workout...can make you feel good about yourself b/c you know your working those muscle and getting your heart rate up...and knowing that the results WILL show - eventually - if ya keep it up!
So.....keep on workin' those weights, Carrie and Dani! Sounds like you're doin' great!!! :D
haha...good one too Carrie - u run so u can eat. :D Hey...whatever works for you..right? (If I was a runner, I bet that would be one of my #1 reasons too! :D) *sigh* I so love foods and sweets. hehe.
Dani - As for the 'ugly sweater' party....have a great time! Though....*ahem* ![]()
I don't know if you'd call my shirt ugly...hahaha...but I have a cutsie Christmas shirt I'm wearing today that my Mom got me a few years ago. (It has this reindeer on it with ribbon and beads on it - (a few decorated presents around the reindeer as it's sitting down with 'lights' strung through its antlers.) I think it's cute though. HAHA.
ANYWAY...;D As for your not bein' sore after almost upping all of your weights in your Power class.....my 2 cents... I would say you have become stronger than even you realize! :D So, keep up with that! :D
haha...yeah, Carrie, I hear ya about feelin' so exhausted by the end of the class - at least you know that you are pushing yourself and that's a positive thing!
So, cookies or working out to your almost limits....whatever you have goin' on - just keep it up ladies!!!
:D ~ Margo ~ :D
Happy Wednesday ladies!![]()
Weigh in:
- LW: 128.8 lbs
- CW: 129.8 lbs.
Well, apparently I gained since last week....err. Guess I feel a bit disappionted b/c when I weighed myself on Sunday I was 127.6 lbs. Though my CC trend still says I'm losing weight though, so that's good.
Though not too bad still. I'm proud of myself for pushing myself a bit more in my circuit training class yesterday. It certainly was a tough one for me ~ and I could feel that soreness last night...and today.
Well, anyway!!! Hope you all have a great day! Look forward to hearing from you. :D
Ttyl. ~ Margo
Margo I know why you're always first to post, it's because you live in the Eastern time zone! Check out Ingrid in Cali! I'm right behind you in central time.
Ok weigh in. I'll be posting more later but I've got to put these numbers in before I forget them.
LW: 132
CW: 131.5
Waist - 26.5
Belly - 30.5
Hips - 38.5
Thigh - 22 (up half an inch.. progress away from stick legs forever!?!!??)
Knee - 15 (I measure right above the knee cap) and down half an inch from last time. Yay.
Hi ladies! Yep, here's the Pacific Standard Time girl, finally arriving at the forums.
I hope that you're all having a great Wednesday.
LW: 126.6
CW: 128.8 (I was 127.8 yesterday, so I think the gain has to do with stomach and salt issues... trying not to freak out too much)
Chest: 37 (up 1 inch)
Waist: 26.25 (up slightly)
Hips: 35.5 (same)
Thigh: 20.5 (same)
I've put in 20 miles over the last 3 days and I am so ready for a break! I probably shouldn't do that again... I just really want to hit 35 this week.
Hey ladies, Great job with keeping on track!
I couldn't weigh myself today, but yesterday I was 130.5. down .5 from last week.
I am going to try my best to get measurements tonight, but i am having agame night at m,y house and i think some of my boyfriends friends will already be there when i get home.
I will post the measurments by tomorrow night though.
This is completely off topic but i have to say something...
About an hour ago a woman from my work had a heart attack and passed away. She was only 43, she was not over weight.
I wanted to just remind everyone tht even though we are all healthy women in most ways there could be underlying factors (like cholestoral) that are be harmful. Just get your blood tested every now and then and ask your doctor about things they dont tell you since they usually just give you a PAP and send you out the door.
Also, don't forget to make amends with the people you love. The lady that died had a sister that also worked for our company and they haven't been speaking for a few weeks, now it is too late.
Sorry for being so morose, but as we all know there is more to being healthy than working out and eating right.
Good luck!
Dani - I am sooo sorry to hear about your co-worker! That's horrible!
Yes, you are right (and don't be sorry for your post)! This forum isn't just about women trying to lose weight and chit chatting about 'frivalous' stuff. We are here to help motivate ourselves and get support to make ourselves healthy and it's a serious reality check when something like that happens.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Again, so sorry to hear of this sad news and hope that in some way your co-workers sister can find peace in her siutation. :(
Hope that you ladies are all able to have a good day and like Dani said....it's not just about losing weight...it's about our overall health and that is VERY important in keeping us going and alive as human beings.
(hugs!!)
~Margo
I agree dmart, it is very important to be healthy. It is also very important to make amends. I'm so sorry to hear about this. I hope you didn't have to see it happen and I can't imagine what her sister must be going through.
On a happier note, I have a running update. Yesterday I completed my long run of 2.5 miles and I'm on a running high. I can not believe that I did that. Do you guys remember when I was bouncing off the walls for being able to run 1 mile this past summer? Ok so it took me 45 minutes to do 3 miles of cardio, including my warm-up and cool down, but I did it :) Oh, and I 'sprinted' (a slow sprint) the last minute of the run and it felt great.
Bloated again yesterday and a little bit today (which I assume will only get worse as I eat more) I hope it's only because totm is supposed to start Saturday. Oh and here's a funny question. I've been on the pill for almost two years and in the middle of that I changed to a different pill. Well this summer (months after the change) I noticed that my periods are much shorter than normal, infact after taking the 'fake' pill nothing will happen for three to four days. Have you guys noticed anything like that? I remember thinking I was pregnant the first time it happened because my period wouldn't start and I thought.. oh my gosh.. this isn't supposed to happen! Random question I know.
Thanks for the well wishes ladies:) I was lucky not to see it, but this lady was such a wonderful person. She worked with mentally and physically disabled children and adults and gave it her all. Anyways...
Congratulations on your running Carrie!!! I love the running high, doesn't last long for me, but it is something to remember and motivate myself with hehe
I had the same thing happen to me when I switched from ortho-low to trinessa brand. I used to have periods for at leats a week, now i only have them for 4 days max. It's awesome, but i was worried at first. I think the trinessa has a higher dose or something (its the generic brand idk)
I am on the generic of Ortho Cyclin, it's called Sprintec and I love it. I know that this has a different dose of hormones so maybe that's what is causing it. I mean, I'm not complaining. I kinda have a mild case of the baby blues (as in knowing we aren't ready for one, but I still want one) so when my period is late by a few days my emotions SOAR! :) sigh. This is the first month ever I think where I've finally come to terms and decided.. it's nice to be just me alone with my husband. I don't want to give that up.
Hello Ladies!
I don't know if any of you remember me, it has been quite a few months since I logged in here. There aren't many of you still in this group, but I remember simi and smiles for sure.
I don't remember how long it has been, but I felt ashamed to keep logging in because I wasn't exactly the healthiest before. I was struggling with being healthy vs disordered eating and wanted to get better before coming back to offer others my support. I am 100% better now and loving it!
I started by eating like a normal person back in June when I was scheduled to be an egg donor. I needed a healthy body so my recipients could have healthy eggs. They are pregnant with twins, and after my food recovery I got to start exercising in September.
I started lifting 3 days a week and doing light cardio. Most importantly I eat healthy and eat about 1300 calories a day. I can't believe I have been losing pounds, inches, fat and gaining muscle and strength! After 2 months I decided to start training with Kristi Larsen, a fitness genius here in AZ and previous competitor. She's helping me train for a competition in March and helping with my diet. I'm now on a Cyclic Ketogenic diet (this is week 2) and am on my second week of 4 days training. She wants me to avoid cardio for now since I have muscle to gain and not much fat.
Current stats (it's been a few weeks since I took measurements other than weight):
5'9''
137.0 lbs
16% body fat
shoulders 39''
chest 34''
waist 27''
hips 34.5''
That's all I know. I'll have updates in 2 weeks probably. If you want to see my diet, I track it on fitday because that's what my trainer uses to monitor her clients. Here's a link http://fitday.com/fitness/PublicJournals.html ?Owner=Rennai
Thanks for having me back! I'm excited to talk to everyone!
Carrie - Great to hear about your running. :D
As for your bloated feelings, etc., I would imagine it may have something to do with your change in b.c. pill and that your t.o.t.m. is coming up.....don't fret too much, chica! :D
Rennai - Welcome back! Sure, I remember you. :)
Great to hear about your progress and how you've been doing lately. :D
Congrats on being an egg donor and getting into a great workout routine for competing (body building I'm guessing?)
As for weighin in, etc., we've been having a Wednesday Weigh In each week (for a long while it seems now....:D) usually we post what our last week's weight was, our current weight, and if you want to post measurement and/or progress pictures, then that's all great too! :D
Hope you ladies have a great day!
It's been a bit of a stressful one for me & raining alll day here in Massachusetts...err! Anyway, hope that my mood gets better in my circuit training class tonight! :D
ttyl, ladies!

Hi, I've just come accross this thread and thought it would be a good one for me to join (seems like it's been going a long time).
I started on cc in the beginning of November '08. Here are my stats:
SW: 136
CW: 133.4 (as of today, but hit 132.8 two days ago, water and bad eating the past two days)
GW: 126
Height: 5'5"
I'm writing in from Melbourne, so way ahead of everyone. But originally from Boston so nice to see someone from MA on here.
I'm feeling much better for having dropped nearly 3lbs, but definitely would really like to hit something just under 130. The day I get to 129.9 I'll be jumping, but it's so tough for me do get down these next 3lbs, been fighting them for the last couple of years.
So i'm here to be motivated and motivate.
Hey Rennai! It's good to have you back! Fill us all in on what you are working on, weightlifting eh? That's wonderful for you, and egg doner, holy cow! You have been busy. Check out your body fat percentage. Tell me more about your diet, why and how did you get started etc.
Hi cbridge, welcome to the site, weekly weigh in is on Wednesday, I hope you stay plugged in and join us here :) I just reached the 131 mark earlier this week (I have seen 127 before but that was months ago!) so I know what you're going through. When we see the 120's no matter which 120 it is, I'm going to flip out.
:) Great to have you all on here, esp. you Rennai, for returning :) There are a few of us who are still on this thread ;) and a few new ones that are super great.
cbridge16 ~ Glad to see you in this forum. :D Welcome!
Oh...good to see someone from MA too. :D I'm in Leominster. :D
So, when you say Melbourne....are you referring to that lovely country down under? :D Never been there...but I'd love to visit Australia someday!
Anyway.....keep up the great work.....your stats look pretty much like mine. I'm 5'5" too and I've been around 130-ish lbs. for several months. My GW is about 125 too. :D Though I'd LOVE to see if I can ever make it to 120 lbs. ~ though I'm trying to go bit by bit..1 day @ a time! :D
Hope you all are staying nice and warm and really appreciate it too ~ haha! My area got hit by that awful Ice Storm late Thursday and we're all still dealing with the aftermath. It's great that soo many states are here to help too w/ power lines, etc.
I feel like we are experiencing a small amount with what the South dealt w/ in Katrina and CA with all the fires this past year or so!
Yeah, my diet and exercise have pretty much been
this past weekend with all that has been going on! I've just been eating whatever and whenever I can since had to deal with power being out, etc. Well, my b/f and I got power early Saturday a.m., but his parents didn't get it until yesterday evening and my Mom still don't have any. My Aunt and cousins in NH still don't either. It's just crazy!
Anyway, hoping to get things back to normal this week and hope that the rest of my family/friends get power back soon!
Take care all! Hope to see you on Wednesday ~ no matter what the scale says, I'll be there too. haha. :D
~Margo
Welcome Rennai and cbridge! Always good to have more people to be supported and to support everyone else!!
I wish I could be warm! We got hit by the ice here in Maine as well. I think we still have a high percentage of people without power, btu im in an apartment in the "city" so i never lost it luckily. Yesterday was actually warm, it was a record high 56!
I worked out really hard last night because i didn't go saturday or sunday and man was i tired!! Then i spent the rest of the night hanging christmas decorations, yay![]()
My goal for the week is to work out for AT LEAST 5 days. lately ive been lazy only doing 4:(
